Chapter 6: Even If You Ask, She Won't Marry

Seeing her granddaughter enter without her usual fits of temper and instead comforting her father first, Lady Su couldn't help but feel a subtle sense of satisfaction welling up in her eyes. She then chose her words carefully before speaking.

"An An, you've heard what the Lu family said just now. Since that's the case, Grandmother will take it upon herself to annul this marriage on your behalf. Do you have any objections?"

Su Youyue had shed tears earlier for her grandmother and father, who, despite being humiliated, still cared deeply for her. They were not tears shed for the Lu family's heartless and ungrateful actions. She nodded without hesitation, "Grandmother, your granddaughter will abide by your decision without any objections! The Lu family broke the engagement, which is unjust. Their intention to exchange the marriage for dowry wealth is immoral. How could I, Su Youyue, ever marry into such an unjust and immoral household?"

As her words faded, everyone was dumbfounded. Nobody had anticipated that Su Youyue, who had been deeply devoted to Lu Song, would agree to the annulment of their engagement, let alone lash out at the Lu family.

"Foolish girl, what nonsense are you spouting!" Mrs. Kang shrieked and lunged forward, intent on slapping Su Youyue across the face.

But the red-clad maiden in the wheelchair swiftly drew a crimson whip from her side and lashed it fiercely towards Mrs. Kang's face.

Su Youyue had been trained in martial arts since childhood, mastering the use of a long whip. After her legs were incapacitated, the whip proved to be a more suitable weapon than swords or sabers, deterring ordinary people from humiliating her at will.

In the past, she had always treated Mrs. Kang with respect as her future mother-in-law and would never have whipped in front of her. Consequently, Mrs. Kang was caught off guard.

If not for the distance between them and the quick reflexes of Lu Song, a skilled martial artist who pulled her away just in time, Mrs. Kang might have left the Su residence disfigured!

"Su Youyue! How could you be so wicked?!" Lu Song couldn't believe she would attack his mother, and he angrily questioned her.

Su Youyue looked at the man and wondered if he knew what true wickedness was. If her actions were considered evil, then what about his family's collective effort to drown her in her previous life? What about his deception in making her raise his illegitimate son, only for that son to treat her as an enemy?

In this life, she wished to kill every member of this inhumane family. Why would she ever remarry and step foot into that den of wolves again?

Perhaps Su Youyue's glare was too filled with hatred, wishing to tear the mother and son apart alive. Lu Song, who had been standing firm, involuntarily took a step back.

Madam Kang also felt a sense of fear. She had heard rumors of this young woman's ruthlessness, but never expected it to be true. It was fortunate they came to cancel the marriage today; otherwise, allowing her into their family would have spelled disaster!

"Fine, fine, fine! I thought of your past obedience and intended to give you some face, but it seems it was all pretense. A wicked woman like you is not welcome in our Lu family! I doubt any household in Yanjing would dare to marry you after this!"

"Scram!" Su Youyue loathed them to the core, spitting out the word with disdain.

"Right! Scram quickly! Our Su family doesn't welcome you here!" Su Zhenyun had long been furious with this mother-son duo but held back due to concern for his daughter. Seeing that she now despised them too, he couldn't tolerate their presence any longer!

With Su Zhenyun's command, the Su family servants, who had endured these two for far too long, finally lost their patience. They grabbed sticks and chased the pair out.

As Madam Kang was being pushed all the way to the door while still shouting curses, the elderly Lady Su couldn't help but frown.

Beside her, the nanny seemed to have perceived her worries. "I never expected that Lady Lu would be so stubborn, behaving like a street ruffian. It's likely that even after this marriage is called off, she won't let it go and continue to hound us, sullying Elder Miss Su's reputation and affecting her future matches."

Su Youyue's prospects for marriage were already difficult to begin with.

Aside from the rumors about her ill fate, her inability to walk alone was enough to seal her fate in the marriage market. Even with previous betrothals, now she had become the one whose engagement was canceled.

The Su family, though large and prosperous, had a small family line. Su Zhenyun had no sons yet, only two daughters, one legitimate and two concubine-born. He doted almost exclusively on his eldest legitimate daughter, Su Youyue. It was clear to all that her dowry would be substantial, which made some wealth-seeking families overlook her shortcomings. But how many of those families could truly be considered decent?

If Madam Kang were to cause a scene, it would only worsen the situation.

Lady Su was deeply troubled by this matter.

Su Youyue wheeled herself over to her grandmother's side and reached out to hold her grandmother's hand, gently caressing the wrinkles on her skin. "Grandmother, don't worry. Ningning will stay with you and Father forever, not marrying anyone."
