    Chapter 66: Nowhere to Run

Su Youyue gazed at the scene outside the courtyard, feeling as if she had fallen into an icy abyss. She had assumed that the thirty-odd men were their entire force, and even if reinforcements came, they wouldn't arrive so swiftly. Little did she expect that there was another courtyard beyond this one, and that their help would come so promptly.

The silver needles she had left were far from enough to fend off such a multitude!

No wonder, in her previous life, the skilled martial artist Xiao Feiyan had been powerless against these villains. With so many of them, anyone would find it impossible to escape!

The men, upon seeing the situation in the inner courtyard, became enraged. One of the leaders bellowed, "Damn women! Just you wait, I'll make sure you pay! Brothers, we won't sell them today. We'll avenge our comrades by killing them, and before that, do whatever you want with them!"

Despair filled Jin'er's eyes as she looked at the men. "Miss, what should we do?"

A steely determination appeared on Su Youyue's face. " Retreat towards the door!"

Even if death was inevitable, she would take as many of these heinous men with her as possible!

As her words echoed, just as Jin'er prepared to step back, the charging men suddenly stumbled and turned around in unison.

    "Who's there?!"

The last syllable of the man's exclamation was still hanging in the air when his head suddenly flew off. As consciousness fled, his eyes remained wide open, staring at the intruder who had abruptly burst in.

In no time, his head landed on the snowy ground, rolling several times before coming to a stop. The crimson blood spurted onto the pristine snow, creating a stark contrast and an unbearable sight.

Most of these people hadn't even gotten a clear glimpse of the attacker; they merely sensed a flash of white light before their unblinking corpses hit the ground. Their original formation dissolved into chaos in an instant, leaving no one to bother with capturing Su Youyue and her companions.

"Miss, could it be that Lord has sent someone to rescue us?!" Jin'er cried tears of joy.

Su Youyue also breathed a sudden sigh of relief. It seemed Chunya had indeed hurried back to inform her father, who had then dispatched someone to save her...

    But her gaze froze momentarily.

    It wasn't her father...

    It was Xie Yuan!

The man who had burst in like a demon in the darkness moved with deadly precision, slicing through life with each stroke amidst the panicked crowd. Wherever he passed, there were only screams of agony and spurts of blood reaching three feet high.

Blood sprayed from the crowd, forming threads that were subsequently severed by the man's gleaming white blade. In a blink, the droplets were severed, swirling chaotically in the air, intertwined with the twisted cries of pain – it was a veritable hell on earth!

At first, Jin'er was thrilled, but then she froze in fear, rooted to the spot.

Watching someone kill firsthand and witnessing such a gruesome act were two different things. Even knowing that these deceased were villains, she was still deeply shaken.

In contrast, Su Youyue fixated on the man's fluid movements, her eyes unwavering. A fire seemed to be raging within her, preventing her from finding any calm or tearing her gaze away from him.

In her previous life, she had seen him kill without hesitation, seen him torture people until they were bloodied with no emotion. Yet, she never realized that Xie Yuan's killing demeanor wasn't terrifying; rather, it captivated her so much that she couldn't look away.

Eventually, most of the initially menacing group had become victims of his blade. The survivors, now cowering in fear, scrambled to escape.

Their earlier anger appeared laughable under his overwhelming power. One by one, they retreated, attempting to flee. But how could they escape the clutches of the Grim Reaper if he willed them to die at midnight?

Despite their dispersal, the man's ghostly presence followed them relentlessly. Soon, only one person remained, climbing the wall in a desperate attempt to flee.

As Xie Yuan prepared to throw his long blade, Su Youyue hastily intervened, "Xie Yuan, wait! Leave one alive..."

Her words were barely out when the blade left the man's hand.

Su Youyue was momentarily stunned, unable to react as the long knife pierced through the fleeing man's hand, pinning it to the wall.

The man let out a shrill scream, unable to forcefully pull away. He had no choice but to lift himself on his toes to avoid the blade splitting his entire palm in two.

Jin'er was too terrified to look anymore. Even the bolder boys, after catching a whiff of the overpowering, suffocating scent of blood, paled with horror.

Is this man... a living Executioner?

As they watched the man advance steadily towards them, both girls felt a chill run down their spines and instinctively took a step back.

Xie Yuan's footsteps came to a halt, his eyes colder and darker than the night itself.

But Su Youyue was ecstatic. "Xie Yuan, hurry up! What are you waiting for?"

They were finally saved, and she hadn't expected Xie Yuan to actually locate her here.

If Su Youyue had any doubts before about whether her attempts to win him over were ineffective, or if he still harbored thoughts of killing her, those doubts were now completely gone.

The man must have been softened by her recent actions, no longer holding a grudge against her. Otherwise, how could he protect her in front of the Third Prince and Princess, and even rush to her rescue in the dead of night?

She had finally managed to appease this future corrupt official.

Upon hearing her animated voice, a glimmer of light flickered in the man's eyes, as if a extinguished lampwick had been reignited by someone.

The man approached and scanned Su Youyue from head to toe, ensuring that she bore no signs of injury before meeting her gaze again. "Miss, Xie Yuan is late."

His complexion was coldly fair, now speckled with the blood of others, making him resemble an otherworldly Asura who had mistakenly stepped into the mortal realm. Crimson droplets trickled down his sharp, pale jawline.

Su Youyue also assessed him. "You're not late. Are you hurt?"

Though the man's strength was terrifying, it couldn't have been safe for him to face so many opponents.

Xie Yuan gently shook his head and raised his hand. Only then did Su Youyue notice that he held a short dagger in his other hand, its blade now dyed a deep red with blood.

"Good to know you're unharmed. Quickly capture that survivor, don't let him escape. He..." Su Youyue's heart was still pounding with excitement. She took a breath before continuing, "He must know a lot of information!"

She had seen clearly that this man was the one who had threatened to throw them to those men for humiliation. He was at least a minor leader and would undoubtedly possess valuable knowledge!

She had risked everything, putting herself in danger, almost sacrificing herself, all for the purpose of capturing these traffickers!

She had nearly failed to react in time to prevent Xie Yuan from killing him.

Though there were still some survivors in the previous courtyard, unconscious from having their acupuncture points sealed, it seemed that the leaders had met their true fate at her hands. The information that the remaining few knew was uncertain.

Just as Xie Yuan was about to approach the man, Jin'er, who was supporting Su Youyue, suddenly lost her strength and collapsed to the ground, pulling Su Youyue down with her.

"Miss!" Jin'er was genuinely exhausted, and her fear had compounded her weakness, causing her legs to give way.

Seeing the situation, Xie Yuan changed course and swiftly headed towards Su Youyue.
