Chapter 1: A Supporting Character More Bitter Than a Bitter Melon

    "Why isn't she awake yet?"

"Madam, please rest assured, Miss Lu's examinations are all normal. She's probably just a bit tired."

Lu Jingtang was roused by the voices. Opening her eyes, she saw a man and a woman by her bedside. The man, in a white coat, was clearly a doctor, while the woman was elegantly dressed and exuded an air of sophistication.

Her forehead throbbed, and her cheeks stung with a burning pain. With great effort, Lu Jingtang tried to focus on the faces before her.

    "Who are you?"

The people in the room exchanged bewildered glances. The man in the white coat looked at the woman, equally perplexed. "The tests showed no issues..."

Lu Jingtang surveyed her surroundings. This was clearly not her less-than-thirty-square-meter rented apartment. Sunlight streamed through the glass door of the balcony, illuminating the luxurious and exquisite furnishings within.

A sharp pain shot through her head, and a torrent of memories, not her own, flooded her mind, leaving her face pale with agony.

After absorbing most of these memories, Lu Jingtang finally understood—

She had transmigrated into a book!

Specifically, into the body of a supporting character with the same name in a rebirth novel.

The original supporting character's biological father had been comrades with the male lead's father. After her father tragically died during a mission and her mother was killed in retaliation, she was adopted into the Fu family. She secretly harbored feelings for the male lead, but upon learning of his engagement to the female lead, she grew resentful and repeatedly framed the female lead out of jealousy.

When the female lead was reborn, armed with memories of her past life, she systematically exposed the supporting character's schemes, causing her to lose all standing in the elite circles of the capital.

Even after all that, Lu Jingtang remained unrepentant, fiercely declaring, "No, I will never admit defeat."

Driven to extreme malice, the supporting character hired assassins to rape and murder the female lead. However, the male lead saw through her plot, and she ultimately reaped what she sowed, ending her life by jumping off a cliff.

This time, she had fallen into the water because the original supporting character had tried to frame the female lead for pushing her in, only to be kicked in the face by the female lead, who had also fallen into the pool.

    Damn!

Lu Jingtang felt utterly wretched. Her face turned even paler as she collapsed limply back onto the soft bed.

Her life was more bitter than a bitter melon!

Madam Fu was startled and quickly grabbed the doctor, asking, "What's wrong with her? Why is she so pale?"

Although Madam Fu didn't particularly care for Lu Jingtang's personality, she had raised her since childhood and couldn't help but worry.

The doctor was also breaking out in a cold sweat. The test results showed no issues! She only had minor superficial injuries and had swallowed a few mouthfuls of water.

Just as everyone was in a panic, preparing to send Lu Jingtang to the hospital, she suddenly sat up abruptly. Before anyone could react, she dashed toward the balcony with the speed of a 50-meter sprint.

She had thought it through—whether she died sooner or later, death was inevitable. It was better to die now, cleanly and decisively.

With a loud thud, Lu Jingtang crashed headfirst into the balcony's glass door, leaving everyone stunned.

Dazed and disoriented, she muttered hatefully before losing consciousness completely.

"Who... who the hell cleaned this door so well?!"

At the same moment, the glass door of the balcony shattered into pieces with a crack.

The maid who had cleaned the glass that morning shivered.

When she woke up again, Lu Jingtang wasn't just suffering from a headache and facial pain—her stomach ached even more.

Having been unconscious all day, her body hadn't consumed even a drop of water, and her throat felt parched.

Weakly, she got up from bed and stood in front of the bathroom mirror. She saw a face identical to the one she had in her previous life, save for the absence of a tear mole at the corner of her right eye.

With round phoenix eyes, rosy lips and pearly white teeth, and fair, rosy skin still carrying a hint of baby fat, her appearance was completely mismatched for a villainess.

Lu Jingtang's mouth twitched. Shouldn't supporting characters be alluring and enchanting? Her looks were completely at odds with her role! If she did bad things with this face, people would think she was just trying to be cute!

A maid gently pushed the door open and, seeing no one in bed, noticed the bathroom door was closed. She asked, "Miss Lu, are you alright? Do you need any help?"

"I'm fine... Um, I'm a bit hungry. Could you bring some food up for me?"

A soft, delicate voice came from the bathroom. The maid replied, "Of course," closing the door as she left.
