    Chapter 62 Too Naive

Lu Jingtang was a good swimmer, having grown up in a small coastal city in the south. She spent every summer at the beach and eventually learned to swim from her friends.

She raced against Qi Yao and Jian Wenzhu, winning first place. Just as she was about to turn and boast to her Big Brother, she noticed Fu Nanyu was no longer in the men's pool next door.

Seeing her standing there, looking around as if searching for something, Qi Heng swam to the edge of the pool near Lu Jingtang. "Little Deer, what are you looking for?" he asked.

Lu Jingtang replied, "Brother Qi, where's my Big Brother?"

Hearing her ask about Fu Nanyu, Qi Heng's lips curled into a mischievous grin. "No idea. I just saw him looking unwell and rushing off. Probably constipated."

Lu Jingtang was taken aback. So even someone as aloof and untouchable as Fu Nanyu could suffer from such embarrassing human problems.

No wonder he had rushed off in such a hurry earlier.

She innocently went back to playing, but after another half hour, Fu Nanyu still hadn't returned. This was far too long.

She thought about asking Fu Shengzhou to check if Fu Nanyu needed any medicine, but Fu Shengzhou and Qi Heng were having too much fun and ignored her.

Left with no other choice, she climbed out of the pool, dripping wet, wrapped a clean towel around herself, and headed toward the building next to the pool.

Just after passing through two doors, she ran into Fu Nanyu coming out. When he saw Lu Jingtang looking for him, he looked momentarily uneasy and paused mid-step. "What are you doing here?"

He had slicked back his wet bangs, revealing a full, smooth forehead that made his sharp, well-defined features stand out even more.

Lu Jingtang didn't overthink it. As she approached, she caught a faint scent of body wash on Fu Nanyu. Her Big Brother was so fastidious—he’d even taken a shower after using the restroom.

"Big Brother, do you need me to buy you some medicine?"

Fu Nanyu looked puzzled. "Medicine for what?"

Lu Jingtang answered honestly, "Brother Qi said you were... blocked."

    Qi Heng!

Fu Nanyu understood immediately. His expression darkened, and he gritted his teeth. "He's dead." Then he explained to Lu Jingtang, "I'm not. He was lying."

Lu Jingtang let out an "oh" and stared at him curiously. "Then what were you doing, Big Brother? What was so important that you had to leave in the middle of swimming to take a shower?"

"I..." Fu Nanyu's lips moved slightly. He met Lu Jingtang's gaze for a few seconds but couldn't come up with an explanation.

Lu Jingtang was stubborn when it came to her curiosity. Seeing him silent, she poked his arm with her finger. "Brother?"

    His breathing hitched.

Fu Nanyu looked at her again and again, as if exasperated by her innocence and naiveté. He clicked his tongue and said, "You'll understand when you're older," before walking away.

Why did she have to find out later? She wanted to know now—later, she’d probably forget.

Lu Jingtang looked confused, scratched her cheek, and followed him.

When Fu Nanyu returned to the poolside, Li Chen swam over with agile, graceful strokes. As soon as he got close, he flashed a knowing smile. "Who would have thought? Our noble, untouchable Young Master Fu would have a day like this. So, want to share your thoughts?"

"Not bad. Just a bit too naive." Fu Nanyu’s eyes held a faint glimmer, his tone casual but pleased, as he subtly hinted at someone in the distance.

Li Chen chuckled. "Well, take it easy. Don’t scare her off."

Fu Nanyu replied, "It’s fine. I don't mind teaching."

Li Chen was amazed, clapping his hands and shaking his head. "Young Master Fu, silent until now, but once he speaks, he astonishes everyone."

The others didn’t understand what the two were laughing and clapping about.

After exercising, the group played cards in a private room. Lu Jingtang didn’t know how to play well, so she just watched from the side, crunching on fruit.

Surprisingly, Fu Nanyu, the male lead, had terrible luck. By the end, he had not only lost all the cash he had on him but also borrowed several thousand yuan from Lu Jingtang.

After losing another round, he reached into his pocket and found it empty. He turned to Lu Jingtang for help. Stunned, she numbly handed over the money.

As she passed him the last ten hundred-yuan bills, she frowned and said earnestly, "Big Brother, you should never go to Macau in the future."

What was going on? Where was the protagonist’s halo (main character aura) he was supposed to have?

Weren’t male leads supposed to be good at everything?

Fu Nanyu propped his chin on his hand, looked at her, and smiled. "Are you going to keep me in line?"

Lu Jingtang’s heart skipped a beat. She glanced at him once, then again. Oh no, did Fu Nanyu think she had a crush on him? Was he testing her?

She quickly waved her hands. "No, no, I wouldn’t dare."

Fu Nanyu glanced at her, feeling like her naiveté would eventually drive him crazy—but she was just too adorable.
