    Chapter 107: A Dietary Fix

Fu Nanyu watched her, a storm brewing in his eyes. Finally, he let out a soft sigh, placed her hand on the prayer beads, and gently guided her fingers over them. "No scars," he murmured, "don't be afraid."

It seemed Lu Jingtang wasn't entirely incapable of remembering those dreams; rather, the memories only surfaced when she was away from him.

Lu Jingtang's fingertips trembled as she cautiously asked, "You knew all along that I wasn't her, didn't you?"

Fu Nanyu nodded, gently kissing the crown of her head, his gaze still tender. "I knew. It wasn't hard to guess."

Indeed, her transformation was so profound. How could someone as sharp and vigilant as Fu Nanyu not harbor suspicions?

She lifted her eyelashes, tilting her head to look at him. "Aren't you afraid I might be a ghost?"

Fu Nanyu scoffed, "Afraid of what? That you'll drain my vital essence? We haven't even truly *done* anything yet, but judging by our past intimate moments, it seems you're the one who ends up drained."

    "Cough... cough..."

Lu Jingtang froze, then understood. Her chopsticks clattered to the floor, and her cheeks flushed crimson. "That's not what I meant. Don't you find it unsettling that I'm just occupying someone else's body like this? What if one day I suddenly switch to another body?"

Fu Nanyu asked, "Was it voluntary? Or did you actively seek to inhabit someone else's body?"

Lu Jingtang immediately shook her head. "I just woke up here. It wasn't intentional."

Fu Nanyu tapped her forehead with a bent finger. "I know you wouldn't. No matter what form you take, I'll always recognize you."

These words, almost a confession, made Lu Jingtang's chest swell with a bittersweet mix of emotion and gratitude. Yet, her curiosity got the better of her, and she couldn't resist asking mischievously, "What if I turned into Uncle Liu?"

Uncle Liu was the family driver, in his fifties, with three or four grandchildren already.

The corner of Fu Nanyu's eye twitched. He suspected she might genuinely be immune to romance. He raised a hand to cover his eyes, sighing helplessly. "You... please spare Uncle Liu."

"Alright, alright." Lu Jingtang knew when to stop and didn't press further with any more bizarre questions.

Having reached this point, the two had almost completely opened up to each other. They pieced together their respective dreams and found them to be interconnected, as if they had truly experienced them together in the past.

Fu Nanyu looked at her, his Adam's apple bobbing painfully. Those dreams, coupled with Lu Jingtang's inexplicable disappearance, led him to a vague suspicion: perhaps Lu Jingtang had always belonged here and had simply returned home.

There was another possibility—that Ji Yunyin was the one who didn't belong in this world...

After hearing his speculation, Lu Jingtang rested her forehead against his collarbone, her voice muffled against his skin. "I don't know. I can't remember anything."

Afraid of disappointing Fu Nanyu, she tried hard to recall, but still, nothing came to mind.

Suddenly, an excruciating pain pierced through her head, so intense that her face turned pale and her back was instantly drenched in cold sweat. She felt her memories being erased bit by bit.

Fu Nanyu noticed her trembling, his heart clenching with painful concern. He gently stroked her back and asked, "Where does it hurt?"

Lu Jingtang looked down at him in a daze, confused. "Ge, aren't we going to work today?" It was as if she genuinely had no idea why they were sitting there or what they had been discussing.

Hearing this, a chill ran down Fu Nanyu's spine. Lu Jingtang's memories had been erased—clearly, something was preventing her from remembering and controlling her.

"It's the weekend. No need to go to the office." Fu Nanyu held her tighter, his eyelashes lowered, unable to conceal the chill in his gaze.

"Does it still hurt?" Fu Nanyu asked worriedly.

Lu Jingtang shook her head. "I'm not in pain."

It didn't matter if she couldn't remember—he remembered. He wouldn't let it go. Sooner or later, he would uncover the entity behind this.

Although Lu Jingtang was no longer sweating and her complexion had improved, Fu Nanyu was still uneasy. He called Dr. Lin and asked him to come over to examine her.

Dr. Lin appeared at the Fu family's doorstep carrying his medical kit. He proudly brushed off nonexistent dust from his shoulders—after all, what would a corporate romance novel be without his standard character?

Rushed over in a panic, he had expected to treat either the CEO's precious parts injured by a struggling canary or the CEO's recently afflicted posterior. Instead, he was there to treat the CEO's sister for a headache.

His enthusiasm instantly waned. After examining her, he found nothing wrong. But just prescribing pain medication would make it seem as if his presence was unnecessary. How else could he earn the most money for the least work in the future?

So, feeling somewhat guilty, he conducted a comprehensive examination from head to toe, inside and out—even checking her toenails for fungal infections.

Finally, with a deliberately thoughtful frown, he declared, "Hmm... qi and blood deficiency, insufficient kidney energy."

Putting on a show, he looked up to see Fu Nanyu staring at him intently and laughed it off. "It's nothing serious, just a slight kidney deficiency. Nutritional supplements will do."

Being forced to see a doctor for no reason and diagnosed with kidney deficiency made Lu Jingtang's cheeks burn. She buried her face, desperately wishing she could disappear into the floor.

"How could..." Fu Nanyu, overwhelmed with concern, began to ask before realizing the obvious cause—it was because of him.

Chen Ma was still asking what could cause kidney deficiency, urging Dr. Lin to take her pulse again so she could plan a suitable diet.

As the saying goes, in traditional Chinese medicine, no illness can hide from a skilled practitioner.

Dr. Lin had studied under a renowned TCM doctor for several years and was something of a multi-talented practitioner when it came to tonics. Otherwise, the Fu family wouldn't have hired him at such a high cost.

Lu Jingtang wished she could faint on the spot, shrinking into the sofa and shooting desperate looks at Fu Nanyu with her eyes, like a rabbit about to bolt, baring its teeth in warning.

Fu Nanyu pressed his lips together, struggling to suppress a smile. Seeing her anger, he coughed lightly and said calmly to Dr. Lin, "Please discuss dietary restrictions with Chen Ma."

Chen Ma was puzzled. Why had the young master interrupted her?

Dr. Lin had already picked up on the little secret between the two but kept quiet. The one paying the bills was the boss—he'd do whatever he was told. Just like imperial physicians in ancient times, discretion was the key to making a fortune.

After Dr. Lin's visit, Lu Jingtang consumed medicinal tonics every day, with an extra bowl of tonic soup at each meal. It made her feel so flushed with heat that she thought she might breathe fire, but her complexion noticeably improved.

Because of her kidney deficiency, Fu Nanyu had been hesitant to initiate intimacy with her much these past few days. Several times, as she watched his firm, well-defined waist, she felt a warmth in her nose, a dryness in her throat, and a restless warmth throughout her body.

After dinner, Fu Nanyu went upstairs. Without him saying a word, Lu Jingtang attached herself to him like a shadow.

Fu Nanyu leaned against the headboard reading a book while she lay on top of him, burying her face in the crook of his neck and sniffing him intently like a puppy.

Fu Nanyu pushed her forehead away with a finger, eyeing her suspiciously. "What's gotten into you lately? Show some restraint."

In the past, their physical contact was mostly initiated by Fu Nanyu. Lu Jingtang would sometimes be overwhelmed, and even when they didn't go all the way, she never acted like this.

    She seemed... needy.

Could it really be because it had been too long?

Lu Jingtang hugged him, her gaze dazed. "I don't know. I just feel like I've been really craving you lately."

Fu Nanyu thought it might be due to the tonics and the fact that they hadn't been intimate for a while. Without further ado, he pressed her down and thoroughly had his way with her.

By the end, Lu Jingtang lay on the bed with a vacant stare, her chest and waist dotted with pink marks resembling butterfly kisses.

Fu Nanyu, bare-chested with his pants slung low on his hips, had several red scratch trails across his back. After filling the bathtub, Fu Nanyu walked out, leaned down to kiss her cheek, and said, "Let's get you bathed." As he picked her up, he casually tossed the clothes from under her onto the floor.

Lu Jingtang sat in the bathtub, and as she soaked in the hot water, her mind cleared a bit. She recalled the scene at the most critical moment when she had clung to him and refused to let go, and a blush spread across her cheeks.

Fu Nanyu sat behind her, scrubbing her like she was a radish, looking so righteous that there was no trace of embarrassment from having taken advantage.

Lu Jingtang felt that washing with water alone wasn't enough. She guiltily thought that without shower gel to mask it, if she ran into others afterward, they might still catch the scent of Fu Nanyu on her and guess that they had slept together.

So she turned and nudged Fu Nanyu, patting his arm, and said, "Shower gel."

Fu Nanyu reached out to hand it to her. As he passed it over, his gaze inadvertently swept across the back of the bottle. He paused, and when Lu Jingtang reached out to squeeze the shower gel, he stopped her hand.

Lu Jingtang asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"

Fu Nanyu had no intention of letting her know that the foreign shower gel she was using had aphrodisiac effects. Otherwise, she would surely feel embarrassed and want to dig a hole to hide in. However, it could be used after they were married, so he silently made a mental note of the shower gel's name.

He took the shower gel away and made up an excuse, whispering convincingly in her ear, "Taking a bath in broad daylight, if people smell the scent of shower gel on you, it'll make them even more suspicious."

Lu Jingtang thought it made sense and decided to follow his advice, forgoing the shower gel.
