Chapter 139 Two Pearls (Baby Extra)

On the beach, a group of toddlers, no taller than a broomstick, were gleefully collecting seashells with their tiny buckets. Their innocent laughter made everyone around feel a few years younger.

Lu Jingtang, nestled among the little ones, held a small pink plastic shovel, intently digging for shells. Her bun bobbed adorably with her movements, and the sunlight, falling perfectly on her face, made her appear utterly soft and cuddly.

This season was ideal for gathering clams—whether marinated raw in soy sauce or steamed, they were exquisitely fresh and flavorful, requiring no additional water. One could simply collect plenty right on the beach.

"Time to go home. I bought cake, strawberry flavor."

Her phone, tucked into the front pocket of her overalls, chimed. She wanted to check it, but both her hands were covered in sand.

So, she set down her shovel, walked a few steps toward the water, and bent down to wash her hands. Just as she leaned over, four-year-old Fatty Hu from next door, a veritable cannonball of a child, dashed past her, nearly knocking her into the water. Fortunately, a large hand suddenly appeared and caught her.

"Are you okay...?" Xie Qinghe was about to ask if she was alright, but when she turned around and he recognized Lu Jingtang, his expression shifted to surprise. "Lu Jingtang, what are you doing here? I thought you went abroad?"

Two years ago, Fu Nanyu had vanished without a trace, and Lu Jingtang had also dropped off the radar. The Fu family claimed he had gone abroad for further studies. Xie Qinghe had privately scoffed at Fu Nanyu's audacity—thirty years old, practically fifty if you rounded up, an old fossil with one foot in the grave, still pretending to be a student. He suspected Fu Nanyu just didn't want to work.

The Xie family had a tourism development project here, and he never expected to run into Lu Jingtang.

Lu Jingtang was equally surprised to see him. She nodded, offering a sincere "Thank you."

Xie Qinghe tentatively asked, "Why are you here alone? Where’s Fu Nanyu?"

The mention of Fu Nanyu instantly brought back what had happened an hour earlier. Ever since they became legally bound, Fu Nanyu had been relentless, almost daily—if not daily, then every other day. Fed up, Lu Jingtang had secretly returned the "tools of his mischief" he'd bought online.

Fu Nanyu had only discovered it today. As if finding her actions childish, he had mocked her for a while, then grabbed his wallet and drove to the town supermarket to buy more.

Dreading the coming night, Lu Jingtang pouted, her eyelids feeling warm.

Her eyes were red, giving her a somewhat wronged look. To Xie Qinghe, her expression seemed a mix of disappointment and sadness. Unconsciously raising his voice, he asked with obvious surprise, "Did you two break up?"

    Lu Jingtang: "Huh?"

"What, are you planning to mediate for us?"

Fu Nanyu had appeared out of nowhere. He cast an indifferent glance at Xie Qinghe, then stepped past him and pulled Lu Jingtang closer.

"Why didn't you reply to my message?"

"My hands were dirty. I hadn’t had a chance to reply yet." Lu Jingtang looked up at him with wide, innocent eyes, showing him her sand-covered palms. Her pants were also covered in sand, making her blend in perfectly with the group of little kids.

"You're the kindergarten class monitor," Fu Nanyu said with a hint of disdain, but in the next second, he rolled up his sleeves, bent down, and washed her hands with seawater. He casually brushed the sand off her pants. "We'll clean you up properly when we get home."

Her hand held firmly in his, Lu Jingtang uttered an "oh" and allowed herself to be led away.

As they passed Xie Qinghe, Fu Nanyu offered a terrifyingly polite remark. "What a rare encounter. Would you like to stay for a meal, Mr. Xie? Just asking casually, not sincerely."

Xie Qinghe knew he couldn’t possibly be that nice. Hearing the last part, he smirked sarcastically and retorted, "No need. You make me lose my appetite."

Fu Nanyu smiled faintly. "I never actually planned on letting you eat anyway. Smart of you to know better."

Lu Jingtang waved goodbye to Xie Qinghe. With one hand holding hers and the other carrying her small bucket, now filled with quite a few clams, she murmured to Fu Nanyu about how they should cook them. Fu Nanyu watched her face, his eyes sparkling. Though it was too far to see clearly, there was an unmistakable tenderness in his gaze.

Xie Qinghe stared at their retreating figures for a moment, his eyes filled with regret but also a sense of acceptance.

Once home, Lu Jingtang didn't even get a chance to sit down before being whisked straight into the bathroom for a shower.

After her shower, she was so hungry she could eat a horse. She emerged with damp hair, wearing only one of Fu Nanyu’s T-shirts, which barely covered her bottom. Her legs were fair and soft.

Fu Nanyu was frying fish. Hearing her come out, he turned around, his Adam’s apple bobbing noticeably. The veins on his hands bulged briefly before he turned his attention back to the fish. Right, dinner first.

Lu Jingtang opened the fridge. "Fu Nanyu, didn't you say you bought strawberry cake? Why is it mango?" Though she liked both flavors, she knew Fu Nanyu wouldn't let her have cake before dinner, so she just looked but didn't take it out.

Fu Nanyu replied calmly, "I never said the strawberry flavor was cake."

Lu Jingtang's mind raced for a moment to realize what he meant. Her cheeks instantly flushed hot, and she quietly slipped away.

Late at night, Lu Jingtang was tossed onto the bed, her wrists bound with a burgundy tie. The red contrasted sharply with her fair, delicate skin. Fu Nanyu leaned down, soothing her with kisses to her eyes and the tip of her nose before finally claiming her lips.

………………………… (Not allowed to write, bye.)

The sounds of panting and sticky, wet noises made her ears burn. Lu Jingtang trembled slightly and let out a soft hum. Fu Nanyu heard it and chuckled softly by her ear, "Be patient."

He took out what he'd bought earlier and opened it. Frowning, he clicked his tongue. "Tsk, the quality's crap."

    Baby's coming.
