Chapter 58 The Complete Opposite of Fu Nanyu
byChapter 58: The Complete Opposite of Fu Nanyu
Seeing her attitude was fairly proper, Fu Nanyu didn’t press the issue. He simply gestured towards the bathroom. "Go wash your face."
Lu Jingtang obediently went, turned on the faucet, and scrubbed her face vigorously, like a squirrel.
After washing her face, she pulled a tissue to dry her hands. Before she could even step out, she heard several voices from outside—both male and female—that sounded somewhat familiar.
She shuffled out in her slippers and saw Li Chen, Qi Heng, and Qi Yao in a tense standoff with Fu Nanyu. Li Chen was holding the door open, preventing him from closing it. "We’re here to see Little Deer, not you. Why won’t you let us in!?"
Fu Nanyu glanced at the bottle of red wine in the assistant’s hand behind Li Chen. Wine, huh? "Bringing alcohol to visit a sick person?"
"Who said it’s just wine? There’s also this." Qi Yao peeked out and shook the milk tea in her hand. "Lu Jingtang, hurry up and tell Fu Nanyu to move aside."
When Lu Jingtang saw the milk tea, her eyes instantly lit up. Not daring to speak directly, she could only lower her gaze and look pitifully at Fu Nanyu.
In the end, Fu Nanyu had no choice but to let them in. Food and drinks soon covered the entire table, and Lu Jingtang was practically drooling.
Fu Nanyu watched, feeling utterly helpless. Most people lose their appetite when sick, but she, even when ill, still ate like a bottomless pit.
Only after Fu Nanyu confirmed the milk tea was hot was she allowed to touch it. She took a sip, and the sweet flavor spread in her mouth. Just as her eyes narrowed in blissful happiness, she heard the person next to her say coldly, "One more sip and you stop."
Lu Jingtang jolted, turning to look at him in disbelief. She tightened her grip on the milk tea, attempting to negotiate. "There’s still so much left. It’d be such a waste to throw it away. How about half a cup?"
Fu Nanyu gave her a deep, unyielding look, showing no intention of compromise.
Lu Jingtang immediately lowered her head, mumbling timidly, "Okay, okay."
That last sip felt like a loss—she should have taken a bigger gulp. For the final sip, she savored it, bracing herself, and took a huge, satisfying slurp, puffing out her cheeks before reluctantly setting the milk tea down.
Fu Nanyu looked at the milk tea, now one-third gone, and fell into a thoughtful silence. "..."
Li Chen’s eyes, with a knowing smile, darted between the two. Someone was in for it.
The group ate and chatted. Fu Nanyu and the other two occasionally discussed work matters, which Lu Jingtang didn’t understand. So, she ate while admiring Qi Yao’s newly bought bags and bracelets.
She was very supportive throughout, chiming in with "Mhm, mhm," "So pretty," and "This really suits your fair skin," making Qi Yao feel thoroughly pleased. What girl doesn’t love being praised?
In her excitement, Qi Yao couldn’t resist cupping Lu Jingtang’s face and giving her a quick peck on the cheek. "You’re so cute right now."
Fu Nanyu’s face instantly darkened, his mood clearly sour as he glared at the two.
Lu Jingtang was startled, her hand accidentally brushing against Qi Yao’s chest. So soft… she shyly scratched her cheek.
Li Chen glanced at Fu Nanyu and deliberately said, "Little Deer, this must be your first time being kissed, right?"
Lu Jingtang’s face turned even redder.
Fu Nanyu’s eyes were shadowed with displeasure, looking like a male lion whose territory had been invaded, exuding an intimidating aura.
Bringing this up, Qi Heng remembered something. "Hey, Little Deer, what’s your type? Lately, quite a few people have been asking your Brother Qi about you. Tell me, and I’ll help you give you some advice."
Before Lu Jingtang could speak, Fu Nanyu sneered, "What kind of brother are you supposed to be?"
Qi Heng retorted, "What’s wrong with asking? Little Deer, ignore your brother, this grumpy face. You tell me."
Lu Jingtang glanced at Fu Nanyu. Seeing he didn’t say anything more, she dared to answer Qi Heng’s question. Since it was well-known that the original host liked Fu Nanyu, she subconsciously described her ideal type as the opposite of him.
"Um… I don’t have any particular type. Someone sunny, a bit gentle, with similar tastes—who likes the same foods as me and can play with me. That’s enough."
Fu Nanyu’s hand, holding the food, paused. He masked the emotion in his eyes and said with a faint smile, "Are you looking for a playmate or a partner?"
Lu Jingtang smiled timidly. Why did it feel like Fu Nanyu was very unhappy?
Qi Heng, still clueless, said, "That type’s great. Don’t worry, Brother Qi will keep an eye out for you."
As soon as he finished, he received a sharp, cold look from Fu Nanyu, startling him.
"What’s wrong?" He looked puzzled at Li Chen, who just smiled and gave him a thumbs-up.
Then, Qi Yao, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke up. "Do you like that Lu Xiao?"
Fu Nanyu instantly sat up straight. Li Chen clapped his hands, laughing so hard he leaned backward.
