Chapter 4: The Yun Family Explodes

As chaos reigned in the Yun family residence, the Huo family's wedding convoy arrived promptly.

Yun Mu, adorned in an exquisite white bridal gown, descended the stairs gracefully. With an unwavering gaze, she boarded the wedding carriage, displaying no hint of nostalgia for the Yun family.

Even without the groom to personally receive her, she showed no resentment or dissatisfaction.

This earned her extra admiration from the Huo family members.

As she stepped into the carriage, the enigmatic young woman offered a cryptic smile.

In her heart, she began a countdown: "3... 2... 1..."

    Then,

    "Boom!"

The deafening explosion rocked the Yun family mansion behind her.

The annex where Yun Xiaosha once resided was instantly reduced to rubble.

Yun Xiaosha had vanished from the world entirely!

The luxurious wedding convoy sped along before finally entering a secluded and enigmatic private castle ensconced within dense woods.

The castle was surrounded by forests on all sides, exuding an eerie solitude. The walls were covered in roses, their white petals swaying gently in the breeze, releasing a subtle fragrance.

In the courtyard, a fountain was encircled by lush lawns.

As the convoy came to a halt, the servants standing nearby paused and cast curious glances, whispering amongst themselves.

This was the idiotic bride who had been substituted for the marriage!

The butler, dressed in a tuxedo, stepped forward respectfully and opened the car door.

    "Madam, please step out."

The moment the car door opened, all eyes turned to the occupant.

Inside the car, a pair of slender and straight legs emerged, followed by the gentle touch of crystal heels on the ground. The trailing wedding gown swayed in the breeze, creating a captivating curve.

The crowd, who had anticipated an ugly and foolish bride, was instead presented with a graceful and elegant woman descending from the wedding carriage with poise.

In the soft glow, her skin appeared as smooth as porcelain, radiating a gentle luster that shimmered beautifully.

Her flawless face was adorned with meticulous and glamorous makeup. Her unique fox-like eyes exuded allure without vulgarity, mingled with an aloof and arrogant air, embodying an unparalleled demeanor.

Perfection personified, from her impeccable features to her waist-length cascading hair, and her tall, slender figure.

A mere glance was enough to captivate one's soul!

Could this... truly be that notoriously foolish and ill-famed daughter of the Yun Family?

Wasn't she supposed to be both mentally challenged and grotesquely ugly?

Why did she seem like an entirely different person?

Everyone's eyes widened in astonishment. Even the seasoned old butler, who had seen it all, was taken aback. "Young Lady? Is that you?"

Yun Mu cast a glance, raised an eyebrow, her expression indifferent yet her voice as melodious as a skylark, "Of course it's me. Take me to the new room."

After all, it was her first day marrying into the Huo family; naturally, she had to present herself well before leaving.

Seeing everyone's dazed looks, Yun Mu, with her rebellious nature, felt a surge of delight in her heart.

The old butler, however, wore a hesitant expression, "Young Master instructed that we should first take Madam back to her own room."

Yun Mu slightly furrowed her brow, calmly nodding in response, "Then please lead the way!"

    The old butler nodded, "Alright!"

Gazing at such a beautiful bride before him, and considering what she was about to face, the old butler couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy.

Yun Mu held up her skirt, under the watchful eyes of all, as the old butler led her from the grand main entrance straight to the remote backyard. Finally, they stopped in front of a dilapidated, dark, and damp servants' quarters.

A few elderly maids, dressed in worn-out uniforms, looked at Yun Mu approaching with mocking and disdainful gazes.

The old butler spoke, "Madam, this will be your room from now on."

Yun Mu's serene gaze swept across the dimly lit underground storage room, and she let out a soft scoff.

Indeed, the Huo family wasn't a place to be taken lightly!

They had directly assigned her, the new bride, to live in the basement without even allowing her through the main entrance.

Was Huo Tingcheng trying to tell her that he would never acknowledge her as his substitute bride, an imposter?

Yun Mu's dark, profound eyes surveyed the damp and gloomy room, which lacked even a small window - it was like a dungeon devoid of daylight.

    And it reeked of dampness!

Is this even fit for human habitation?

The old butler expected Yun Mu to fly into a rage, but to his surprise, she simply straightened her back and turned around, asking with a melodious voice, "Where is the groom? Is he planning to consummate the marriage with me here?"

"The Young Master is in frail health. The wedding night will be skipped tonight," the butler said respectfully in a low voice. "Madam, please rest assured. If you need anything, feel free to ask me!"

With that, he promptly withdrew from the room.

Well, since I'm here, I might as well make the best of it!

Yun Mu took a deep breath, removed her veil, and was about to step into the room after taking off her high heels when a pile of smelly clothes slammed onto her back.

A plump-faced maid approached, her brows furrowed and voice sharp, "Do you have any manners? Are you planning to wash clothes in your wedding gown?"

Yun Mu turned around, her beautiful eyes narrowing, "I'm Madam Huo. You want me to do laundry?"

The maid instantly sneered, "A fake idiot bride substituting for someone else dreams of being Madam Huo? You must be joking! Young Master instructed that all the castle's laundry must be washed by tonight. No food until it's done!"

"Did Hao Tingcheng tell you to make me do laundry?" Yun Mu picked up on the crucial point.

The maid scoffed, "What else? Do you really think you're the one in charge here? In the Huo family, you'll be nothing but a maid! Quickly change and get to work!"

But Yun Mu chuckled, lifting her dress and casually lounging on the sofa with one leg crossed over the other.

    "I'm afraid I can't comply."

The maid flew into a rage, rushing over to strip Yun Mu of her wedding gown.

How could Yun Mu allow her to succeed? She nimbly dodged, but to her surprise, that fat maid actually raised her hand to slap her!

"You impostor, who do you think you are... Ah!"

With just a gentle trip of Yun Mu's toe, the plump maid tumbled to the ground with a loud "Thud!", landing on her back in an undignified position.

Following that, Yun Mu swiftly delivered a fierce kick, sending her flying!

The maid's head tilted to one side, and she fainted immediately.

"Clamor!" Yun Mu lifted the corners of her lips indifferently.

Did they want Miss Yun to work? They were asking for it!

    Was it Huo Tingcheng?

The unpredictable and feared illegitimate son of the Huo family, a consumptive ghost not expected to live past twenty-six?

He had gone through great lengths to marry her for good luck, yet he didn't consummate the marriage and made her a servant instead!

    What's the deal here?

Man, you've successfully piqued my interest!

But isn't she now the sister-in-law of that scumbag Jinzhou Huo?

Yun Mu found her tubercular groom more and more intriguing.

Too weak to consummate the marriage?

Yun Mu stroked her smooth chin, a mischievous glint suddenly flickering in her beautiful eyes.

Fortunately, despite the spartan conditions of this basement, there were still some basic cosmetics available.

Ten minutes later, Yun Mu looked at herself in the mirror with satisfaction.

Her features were plain, her makeup bold as an oil painting, but most strikingly, two scars crossed her left cheek, grotesque and unsightly.

Anyone who saw her would be utterly disgusted!

She raised the scissors, and with a swift motion, the intricate layers of the wedding gown's skirt fell away, revealing a pair of well-proportioned, fair legs.

Though this body was frail, it was fortunate that it possessed an appealing symmetry, albeit a bit too slender.

    Yun Mu nodded in satisfaction.

Since her consumptive husband refused to see her, she would take the initiative to seek him out!

She curled her lips into a mocking smile, kicking the maid's body aside before vanishing from the basement room.
