Chapter 267: The Huo Family Is in Your Hands

In recent days, several members of the Huo family had come to Huo Tingying, asking him to return and uphold justice.

The second and third uncles of the Huo family were no match for Huo Jinzhou combined, and they could see their power within the Huo Group being gradually eroded by him. They could no longer sit idly by.

Since the fat meat wouldn't fall into their mouths anyway, it didn't matter whether Huo Tingying or Huo Jinzhou took control of the Huo Group.

Moreover, although Huo Tingying was cold and ruthless, he at least followed the rules. As long as you didn't provoke him, he wouldn't touch you.

That kid Huo Jinzhou, on the other hand, had no sense of propriety and showed no mercy when dealing with his two uncles!

Seeing that the time was ripe, Huo Tingying promised them he would give them an answer next Monday.

This weekend happened to be Qixi Festival. Originally, Huo Tingying had planned to spend some quality time with Yun Mu, but unexpectedly, Ji Ming insisted on tagging along, clinging to Yun Mu like glue.

Seeing Huo Tingying about to lose his temper, Yun Mu came up with a compromise.

She invited Huo Chun and Wen Qingqing to join them for a beach holiday and barbecue.

Ji Ming was happy as long as Yun Mu was around, following her around like a puppy.

Wen Qingqing, a hopeless romantic, couldn't take her eyes off Ji Ming's handsome face and kept fawning over him wherever he went.

The three of them chattered away, playing and grilling food together.

Only Huo Chun, perhaps due to her different upbringing, seemed to like Yun Mu but couldn't quite fit in with the trio. She sat alone on a stone bench, drinking beer.

After finishing a call, Huo Tingying returned and sat down beside Huo Chun, opening a can of beer for himself. "Why not go over?"

Huo Chun glanced at Huo Tingying but didn't tell the truth. "It's too noisy. I prefer to be alone."

Huo Tingying smiled. "Girls your age don't mind a bit of noise."

"But didn't you say I should appear more mature and composed so I can intimidate those old guys in the company?"

Huo Tingying, "Did I say that?"

    Huo Chun nodded. "You did."

"Then I must have." Huo Tingying took a sip of his beer.

Accustomed to fine wines, he frowned slightly at the taste of this cheap beer.

Huo Chun glanced at him and asked, "Let me ask you again, why choose me? You're clearly the best person to manage the Huo Group."

"Because I might not live much longer."

Huo Chun was stunned, looking at Huo Tingying in shock.

Huo Tingying continued, "A few days ago, the doctor told me that my blood has undergone a mutation... In simpler terms, I won't live much longer."

Huo Chun's grip on her beer bottle tightened. She suspected she had misheard and couldn't speak for a while.

"I'm still waiting for the doctors to research a treatment plan, but there's not enough time. If things continue like this, I might not last more than three months..."

Looking at Huo Tingying's calm face, Huo Chun's voice trembled. "Huo Tingying, are you joking with me?"

Huo Tingying finished the rest of his beer and stared into Huo Chun's eyes. "Next Monday, I'll bring you to the high-level meeting of the Huo Group and publicly announce your identity. After you officially join the Huo Group, I'll transfer all my shares to you."

"I don't want your shares!" Huo Chun's breathing quickened as she grabbed Huo Tingying's sleeve. "When you first brought me here, you said you'd always help me and protect me from those old men!"

"Don't worry. Even if I die, the people under me won't abandon you. I'll place trustworthy people around you, and with your abilities, you can support the Huo Group."

Huo Chun sneered. "How thoughtful of you! If you're so meticulous, how could someone get the better of you and leave you half-dead?"

Huo Tingying shook his head and laughed bitterly. "Some things are unavoidable."

"Aren't you rich? Can't you find more doctors? What if it's a misdiagnosis? You should consult more doctors..."

Though Huo Chun's tone was harsh, her eyes were red.

Huo Tingying felt touched. "Looks like I haven't been wasting my time caring for you. You do know how to care, after all."

"I'm not concerned about you; I'm concerned about my own future! After all, you're the one I'm relying on!" Huo Chun said awkwardly.

"Huo Chun, the medical team I have is top-notch; there's no chance of a misdiagnosis." Huo Tingying patted her shoulder. "I'm telling you this now so you can prepare yourself mentally and stop acting like a child. If I survive, I'll keep helping you. But if I really do pass away, you'll have to carry the Huo Group on your own."

Huo Chun suddenly felt her eyes burning. She had finally found an older brother, even if they weren't related by blood, at least she had found some family.

But now, this older brother was going to be gone...

Huo Chun couldn't accept this outcome. "Can you stop talking like you're making your last will? Aren't you supposed to be powerful? Are you just giving up like this?"

Huo Tingying smiled. "What do you know, kid?"

He stood up, and just then, Yun Mu waved at them to come eat the grilled food.

Huo Chun asked, "What about your wife? So many people are after her! Don't you worry that she'll remarry with your fortune?"

Isn't there one right in front of you?

    Huo Tingying's face darkened.

"After I die, my people will protect her. She's independent and can protect herself. Of course, if she finds someone who can make her happy, I'll bless her."

"Bless her my foot! When you're dead, you won't even know if grass grows on your grave! Once you're gone, everything—your money and your wife—will belong to another man, and they'll have children and live happily ever after!"

Huo Tingying gritted his teeth. "Are you trying to drive me crazy?"

Huo Chun innocently said, "I'm just speaking the truth."

Huo Tingying did not continue the previous topic but instead said seriously, "Huo Chun, what I told you tonight, only you should know. Don't tell her."

With that, he stepped forward and walked ahead.

Huo Chun watched Huo Tingying's back, realizing that over the past few months, she had subconsciously begun to rely on him, truly seeing him as her brother.

Even though he told her about the demons within the Huo Group, she wasn't really afraid because she believed Huo Tingying would be there, and he merely wanted her to be a puppet CEO.

Now, he suddenly said he was going to die.

All the pressure and fear came crashing down on her, making her feel scared once again.

She didn't want to become that lonely and helpless Tu Chun, bearing everything alone.
