Chapter 8: Returning to the Huo Family Mansion
byChapter 8: Returning to the Huo Family Mansion
Lu Nansen continued with admiration, "But your bride is truly astonishing. To possess such remarkable medical skills – it seems rumors can't always be trusted!"
Huo Tingcheng's gaze darkened. "Remarkable medical skills?"
Lu Nansen's tone was animated. "Not just remarkable – she discovered the poison in your body through acupuncture. She's a genius! This woman is intriguing..."
Indeed, she was intriguing. A rumored fool had somehow managed to kill his Tibetan Mastiff with bare hands and possessed an in-depth knowledge of medicine.
Huo Tingcheng shot a sidelong glance at Lu Nansen, his sword-like eyebrows knitted together tightly, "You may leave now."
Lu Nansen was taken aback, then it dawned on him. "Come on, you're getting jealous just because I complimented your wife?"
"Be gone!"
"Indeed, you're one to discard the bridge after crossing it. Off with you then!"
Lu Nansen makes his exit, packing his belongings!
When Lu Nansen disappeared from the room, a frosty glint flickered at the corner of Hao Tingcheng's eyes.
Lu Nansen's medical skills were already at the pinnacle in Country Hua, an exceptional genius in the field of medicine. Yet, Yun Mu had managed to earn his praise.
Furthermore, she could detect poison within his body just by acupuncture?
How many more secrets was this Yun Mu hiding?
The next morning, Feng Shuo presented the latest investigation report on Yun Mu.
It was confirmed that this woman was indeed the foolish daughter of the Yun family. However, over the past few years, the young fool had not been recuperating in a sanatorium but had instead endured inhumane torture. She had only been rescued and brought back recently.
Everything else about this woman was spotlessly clean, with no abnormalities whatsoever!
But the cleaner it seemed, the more problematic it was.
A fool who had always stayed in a mental hospital suddenly became an extraordinary medical prodigy upon her release?
Who are you trying to fool?
"Where is she?"
Tossing the documents in his hand into the fireplace, Hao Tingcheng abruptly rose from his wheelchair.
In the flickering flames, the elegant and towering figure cast a mysterious veil over the man's chiseled, handsome face. His pupils glinted with a cold sheen, exuding an overwhelming presence.
The elderly butler, standing nearby, stepped forward and said, "Madam should still be resting at the moment."
A pause? 1
Huo Tingcheng's lips curved into a subtle, enigmatic smile. "Wake her up. We're going back to the old residence."
"Understood."
It seemed that even if the young madam wasn't as foolish as rumored, it wouldn't alter the young master's decision to return her to the Yun family.
"Splash—"
Yun Mu, deep in slumber, was abruptly jolted awake by a basin of cold water thrown over her.
Her eyes snapped open, and as her gaze fell upon the smirking maids standing by the door, a chill permeated her gaze.
The lead maid, the plump one whom Yun Mu had knocked out the previous night, stood with her hands on her hips, mocking, "Still sleeping at daybreak? Do you really think you're Madam Hao now?"
Yun Mu sat up, her soaked body still clad in the tattered wedding gown, a picture of distress.
Nonetheless, she composed herself, wiping the water from her face with a calm demeanor. "Was the lesson I gave last night insufficient?"
The plump maid instantly flew into a rage. "You impostor dared to hit me last night! You'd better prepare yourself to be kicked out of the castle by Young Master! But before that, you must finish all these chores!"
With that, the other servants promptly carried in several baskets of laundry.
"When you're done with the washing, that's when you'll get your meal. If you have a problem with that, go complain to Young Master!"
Having not eaten anything since yesterday, Yun Mu was famished. Seeing this scene, she couldn't help but laugh in frustration. "Put the laundry aside for now. Who threw water at me just now?"
The maids froze for a moment. A short-haired maid with a sharp tongue stepped forward, "It was me. What about it?"
A frosty glint flickered in Yun Mu's eyes. "Come here."
The maid harrumphed. "Fine, I'll come. What are you going to do to me?"
Yun Mu raised an eyebrow and suddenly lifted the trash can on the ground, flipping it over to cover the maid's head.
"Clatter!"
The contents of the trash can instantly drenched the maid, leaving her utterly humiliated.
The short-haired maid was stunned, then she shrieked in belated realization, "You impostor! How dare you...!"
Suddenly, her body was lifted off the ground as Yun Mu kicked her, sending her crashing into the wall. She fell to the floor, silent.
Everyone was dumbfounded.
They stared at Yun Mu as if she were a violent maniac.
Yun Mu's smile turned sinister as she surveyed the crowd. She sneered, "You all saw that. I have a tendency towards violence, and the Tibetan Mastiff died by my hand. If anyone dares to make things difficult for me again, the next one lying there will be you!"
All the maids retreated promptly.
Yun Mu stretched lazily and clapped her hands. "I'm hungry. Prepare a full breakfast for me and also, bring me a change of clothes."
Seeing no one moving, Yun Mu continued, "Are you dissatisfied or unwilling to act? Even if I were disfigured and lost the favor of your Young Master, I am still the nominal Young Lady of the Huo Family and the eldest daughter of the Yun Family! Do you really think you'll get away with offending me?"
The maids' expressions changed abruptly.
They had only dared to humiliate Yun Mu because they were following orders. But if the Yun Family were to find out about this...
The maids had different expressions, but none dared to defy Yun Mu's command. They immediately set to work.
Indeed, it was a world where the strong preyed on the weak, wherever you went. Rather than being bullied by servants, it was better to make an example out of them and put an end to such behavior once and for all!
After changing into clean clothes, Yun Mu strolled around the castle before returning to the dining room to enjoy her breakfast at a leisurely pace.
The old butler already held a newfound respect for the young lady due to her remarkable medical skills displayed the previous night.
However, when he couldn't find Yun Mu anywhere and eventually spotted her sitting at the dining table, dressed in a crisp white shirt and black pants, with her legs crossed in a casual manner while enjoying her breakfast with a mischievous air, he was slightly taken aback.
And the servants nearby, some attended to her with fruits in hand, while others served milk; all of them were utterly obedient to her commands...
What's going on here?
The butler, though inwardly skeptical, kept his expression unchanged. "Since Madam has already risen, please follow me to dress. Young Master has instructed that I escort you back to the family's ancestral home for a short visit."
The Huo family's ancestral home?
Huo Tingcheng hadn't taken up the olive branch she had offered last night. Now he was taking her to the old family residence early in the morning. Surely, he didn't have any good intentions, did he?
Yun Mu tossed a grape into the air and skillfully caught it in her mouth, her voice cold as she declared, "I'm not going!"
The old butler was taken aback. "No one dares to defy Young Master's orders. Madam, perhaps you should…"
"Is that so?" Yun Mu curved her lips into an enigmatic smile, leaning forward with narrowed eyes. "Then you can tell Hao Tingcheng that if he doesn't agree to my cooperation, I won't comply with any of his arrangements. Including visiting the Hao family's ancestral home!"
beads of sweat formed on the old butler's forehead.
He was unsure where this young lady drew her courage from, daring to threaten the Young Master.
Yet, seeing Yun Mu's resolute expression, he could only report truthfully to Hao Tingcheng.
Hao Tingcheng's thin lips curled into a mocking smile. "Dare to threaten me? How intriguing!"
With those words, he kicked open the door and strode downstairs.
