News of Xuanyuan Ming’s sudden collapse and hospitalization spread rapidly, attracting a swarm of media reporters armed with cameras. Li Moran handled the interviews gracefully, striking a balance between poise and genuine sadness without breaking down in front of the reporters.
When reporters asked why Xuanyuan Ming had suddenly fainted and been hospitalized, Li Moran vaguely mentioned that the family had argued because of Yi Jue and Yun Mu.
Within hours, social media exploded with headlines blaming Yun Mu and Yi Jue for Xuanyuan Ming’s condition. Xuanyuan Ming’s collapse was blamed on Yi Jue and Yun Mu, while Liu Ling garnered widespread sympathy.
Once the reporters dispersed, Li Moran wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and turned around to see Xuanyuan Xue standing behind her.
"Mom, why did you say that? It wasn’t my brother who argued with Dad—it was you."
"Are you yelling so loud because you want the reporters to hear?" Li Moran, feeling a headache coming on, rubbed her temples. "You’re not in good health, go back and rest."
Xuanyuan Xue clenched her fist. "If you care so much about my health, why did you leave me alone at ten and go back to the Li family? If you left, why come back at such a critical moment? Mom, did you make Dad faint?"
Li Moran was immediately enraged. "Do you know what you’re saying?"
Xuanyuan Xue’s face turned pale. "I don’t want to suspect you, but I heard that last night Dad said he wanted to divorce you, and then…"
"There’s no such thing!" Li Moran cut her off. "Your father and I just had a normal argument; we’re not getting a divorce!"
At that moment, Xuanyuan Xun quickly walked up and grabbed Xuanyuan Xue’s arm. "What are you stirring up for? That’s our father. Do you really think Mom would do something to him?"
But Xuanyuan Xue stared at Li Moran intensely, clearly not believing her.
Xuanyuan Xun pulled her toward the elevator. "Go back now. Yi Jue might cause more trouble later. Don’t be in the way here!"
He then forcefully ordered the bodyguards to take Xuanyuan Xue back to the car.
…
Meanwhile, Yun Mu and Yi Jue had no idea what was unfolding outside. Since leaving the restaurant yesterday, Yi Jue had sent Yun Mu back to the lab.
The development of the antidote for the Yi family’s blood disorder had reached a crucial stage. Yun Mu didn’t trust the other Yun family researchers to handle it properly, so she had to return and oversee it herself. Yun Mu had a habit of turning off her phone once she entered the lab.
As for Yi Jue, he had scheduled an early morning meeting with Dr. Feng.
At Ruoshui Garden’s study, Yi Jue had been dealing with some backlogged files early in the morning when Cheng Li came forward to report, "Yi Zong, Dr. Feng is here."
Yi Jue closed the files. "Please bring him in."
In the study, Yi Jue reclined on the plush sofa.
After making all the necessary preparations, Dr. Feng asked, facing him, "Yi Zong, I’ve only studied the method of using drugs to forcibly hypnotize and access your lost memories through academic research. I’ve never tried it personally, so I can’t guarantee success, and there may be some aftereffects. Are you sure you want to proceed?"
Yi Jue didn’t hesitate. "I’m sure."
Images of Yun Mu’s clear, transparent eyes floated in his mind. He had to remember who she was.
What kind of past did they share?
Yi Jue slightly parted his lips and firmly said, "I must retrieve my lost memories."
Dr. Feng pressed his lips together and solemnly said, "If you really lost your memory, retrieving this part may not be all sweet. When those memories come flooding back, you might be overwhelmed by intense sadness, anger, or pain—possibly even to the point of madness. Even so, are you sure you want to recover them?"
A small smile played on Yi Jue’s lips. "I’m sure. I know the memories with her will be sweet."
"Alright." Dr. Feng began the preparations, "We'll start immediately. The entire process might take 2 to 3 hours of your time, Total."
Total nodded, and in the next moment, he was unknowingly forced into hypnosis by the drug and closed his eyes.
……
In a daze, he seemed to return to a place that was both familiar and strange. He actually found himself back at the old Huo Family mansion.
He clearly remembered that he hadn’t returned to live there since he moved out in his teens, but in this chaotic dream, he was back in that familiar room.
A wave of irritation surged in his heart, and he wanted to turn and leave this detestable place, but as he reached the staircase, he heard a delicate voice from downstairs.
"Grandpa, stop feeding it! Look how round Roundie has become? I never should have given it that name; it's getting rounder and rounder."
Yun Mu?
His heart leaped with joy, and he hurried downstairs, only to see the back of a young girl. The girl carried the adorable Roundie to the lawn to sunbathe. The servants passing by greeted her, "Lady of the Huo Family."
Lady of the Hoo Family?
There was only one Lady of the Huo Family, the Yun family's foolish daughter-in-law from the capital city.
Impossible.
She was Yun Mu!
Panic surged in Total's heart. He rushed forward, intending to pull the girl closer to see who she really was.
But when she turned around, an incredibly delicate and beautiful face, yet completely unfamiliar, met his eyes.
"You are... Yun Mu?"
Her eyes were exactly the same as Yun Mu's.
But the girl pushed him away, and the scene shifted. He saw himself on a snowy train, a bedraggled girl clutching his pants leg, begging, "Save me..."
He saw the girl, flushed with fever, struggling to endure the effects of a drug in a hotel, finally blooming beautifully under him...
But then the scene changed again, and he saw himself running carefree with the girl in a small fishing village by the sea, only for her to leave him behind...
She had left him behind, no longer wanting him!
Total's eyes snapped open, forcibly waking from the hypnosis. His head was buzzing, and a sudden rush of nosebleed flowed out.
Dr. Feng hadn't expected him to wake up midway and hurriedly handed him some tissues, "Total, how are you feeling?"
Total couldn't hear anything from the outside world at that moment. Cold sweat soaked through his clothes, his handsome face was deathly pale, and his lips had lost all color.
Even his breathing felt painful, with only his muscular chest rising and falling as he gasped for air.
Dr. Feng was alarmed, "Total, have you remembered the lost part of your memory?"
It took a long while before Total regained some clarity from the chaos. He clutched Dr. Feng’s arm tightly, "I still haven’t fully remembered yet, Dr. Feng, continue the hypnosis, I need to remember it all!"
Dr. Feng immediately refused, "No! This drug was bought from the black market for experimental purposes. Now that you've woken up mid-hypnosis, if we continue forcefully again, it could be fatal!"
