Chapter 405: Impossible Divorce
by 叶微摇Chapter 405: Impossible Divorce
Yi Jue’s cold, ice-like gaze swept over Li Moran. But Xuanyuan Ming told him, "Go after Yun Mu. Don’t let her harbor any grudges. Don’t worry, I’ll handle this situation here."
Yi Jue instantly understood Xuanyuan Ming’s intention. It seemed this old man had reached his limit of tolerance.
Yet Li Moran was completely oblivious to her situation, still sitting there with a smug smile, drinking away.
Yi Jue mockingly curled his lips and stepped forward to chase after Yun Mu.
Just as he was about to leave the hall, Liu Ling, having finished her performance, was also heading in his direction.
She didn’t expect Yi Jue to suddenly stand up. Caught off guard by his cold, piercing gaze, her heart pounded violently. She mustered her courage and looked up at Yi Jue’s sharp features. "A Jue, what a surprise."
Yi Jue’s cold and indifferent eyes swept over her, as still and lifeless as dead water.
He gave her a brief, cold stare before brushing past her without a word, chasing after Yun Mu.
Liu Ling clenched her hand, glancing in the direction of Li Moran, her heart filled with unease.
She wasn’t sure if today’s act of playing the victim would succeed, but the only person she could rely on was Li Moran. Even if Yi Jue despised her, she had to fight for her place.
Yun Mu didn’t look back, but she knew Yi Jue was following her. She stopped in front of the black Rolls-Royce Phantom.
Yi Jue walked over, one hand in his pocket, pressed the car key, and just as Yun Mu was about to pull the door open, he reached out to block it, trapping her in his embrace.
"Not mad?"
The tall and handsome figure of the man cast a shadow over her, his hot and crisp breath drawing near. Yun Mu didn’t back down, lifting her gaze to meet his. "Why would I be mad? Li Moran’s cheap tactics aren’t enough to manipulate me. Today, she clearly conspired with Liu Ling in advance, deliberately bringing me here to stir up trouble and make us argue, trying to ruin our relationship."
After all, if Yi Jue really ended up with her, the head of the Yun family, Li Moran and Xuanyuan Xun would be left with no chance.
Hearing that she wasn’t mad, the tension in Yi Jue’s mind relaxed.
He slowly curled his lips into an arc, his low voice carrying a hint of roguish charm. "Then tell me, what kind of relationship do we have?"
Yun Mu’s long lashes fluttered as she stretched out a slender finger to forcibly create distance between them. "A simple contractual relationship. I’m a doctor, and you’re a patient I’ve treated."
Yi Jue’s eyes lingered on hers, his expression malicious and mischievous. "Treated? Have you checked if it’s cured? Have you inspected it?"
"Are you asking me? This morning you were all over me, and now you’re pretending you can’t perform?" Yun Mu pushed him away forcefully. "Can you stop being such a shameless jerk, no matter the time or place?"
This time, Yi Jue let go voluntarily and opened the car door for her. "I was just teasing you, afraid that you’d be affected by irrelevant people."
"I don’t know who was really affected by Li Moran before, even threatening suicide!"
Yun Mu muttered, getting into the passenger seat.
Yi Jue glanced at her, closed the door for her, and then got into the car to leave.
……
Xuanyuan Family.
After returning to the Xuanyuan family, Xuanyuan Ming waved his hand. The butler immediately dismissed all the servants and also sent Xuanyuan Xue back to her room.
The large living room was left with only Xuanyuan Ming in his wheelchair and Li Moran.
Li Moran knew that Xuanyuan Ming would settle accounts with her after returning home and had long been prepared for it. She put down her bag, leisurely poured herself a glass of red wine, swaying her graceful and seductive figure as she sat on the sofa opposite Xuanyuan Ming, sipping the wine.
"Do you want me to pour you a glass of your favorite red wine?"
Xuanyuan Ming glanced at her without showing any emotion before throwing a file on the coffee table. "Take a look and sign it if there's no problem."
Li Moran had only given the file a brief look, but when the words "divorce agreement" entered her sight, she was deeply shaken.
Is Xuanyuan Ming really going to divorce her?
Why? Could it be because of what she said about Yun Mu today, embarrassing his beloved son?
Li Moran felt a chill all over her body. She had assumed Xuanyuan Ming had long accepted her dominance and impulsiveness, and at worst, he would scold her and tell her to tone it down, or at most, get angry and send her back to the Li family.
After all these years, even though there was no love between them, they still had three children they had raised together. And although Xuanyuan Ming didn't love her, he only loved that dead woman, and had no interest in other women. So she had never imagined that one day, Xuanyuan Ming would ask her for a divorce.
"Xuanyuan Ming, I won't sign this document. I won't divorce you," Li Moran said, struggling to maintain her composure, but the slightly trembling wine glass in her hand betrayed her emotions.
Xuanyuan Ming's gaze fell on Li Moran's face. "I believe our marriage has long been nominal, and there's no need for further discussion. You should be clear that I'm not asking for your opinion."
He was merely informing her.
The moment she returned to the Xuanyuan family and started suppressing Yi Jue, Xuanyuan Ming had decided he could no longer keep her around.
Yi Jue was the son he had the highest hopes for, the son of the woman he loved the most. The Xuanyuan family could only be handed over to him.
Li Moran glared at him fiercely, too angry to say a word.
Xuanyuan Ming tapped his fingers on the wheelchair twice. "Sign it. Both you and the Li family will be pleased with the terms."
"What do you mean? Are you saying that I, and the Li family, are after the Xuanyuan family's wealth?"
Xuanyuan Ming's thin lips pressed into a straight line as he coldly said, "None of that matters now. Just sign it, or I can't guarantee the conditions will hold."
It doesn't matter anymore?
As she looked into Xuanyuan Ming's cold, dark eyes, Li Moran realized that his gaze had always been the same—void of warmth or affection.
He was an iceberg that no amount of effort could warm, a man she could never get close to in this lifetime.
Yet he could always see through all her thoughts, which made Li Moran feel completely exposed, despised, and humiliated.
She clenched her fists, and years of pent-up emotions burst forth.
"Xuanyuan Ming, what gives you the right to treat me like this? I can endure you not loving me, endure your years of emotional neglect, and I've chosen to tolerate it as much as possible. But what gives you the right to humiliate me with a divorce when you're on your deathbed?" Li Moran slammed the wine glass on the coffee table and demanded angrily.
Xuanyuan Ming paused for a moment, then looked up and coldly stared at her. "Do you really not know why I'm bringing up divorce now?"
