Yun Mu rolled her eyes at the approaching Lin Wanqing with utter disdain.

"I'm not hungry anymore. Let's go," Yun Mu tugged at Hao Tingcheng's sleeve, preparing to leave.

After just a few steps, her sleeve was pulled back.

"Mumu!" Lin Wanqing cried out softly, her eyes reddening slightly, a mix of anger and grievance. "You're actually messing around with this pretty boy? How could you be so irresponsible? If your father finds out about this, he'll definitely beat you to death."

Pretty boy, Hao Tingcheng?

Hao Tingcheng's face turned ashen.

"Beat me to death?" Yun Mu turned around, looking at Lin Wanqing with an indifferent yet mocking smile. "Your daughter was already tortured to death by you two. The Yun Mu now has nothing to do with your Yun family."

Lin Wanqing looked at Yun Mu with heartbreak. "Mumu... Are you saying all this because you hate that Mommy sent you away back then?"

"Hate? You deserve it?" Coldness seeped from the corners of Yun Mu's eyes as she pretended to sigh. "The Yun Mu from before was tortured to death when you sent her to that biological research facility years ago. Didn't you know that?"

Her words froze the atmosphere in the dessert shop.

Lin Wanqing looked at her daughter, a mix of disbelief and unfamiliarity in her eyes. "Mumu, what are you talking about...?"

What biological research base? What experimental operating table?

What exactly was Mumu saying?

Mumu was her daughter. No matter how ashamed she had once felt of her, she could never have sent her to be experimented on until death.

Huo Tingcheng gazed at the girl before him. Her demeanor seemed calm and composed, but her eyes were dark and bottomless, like a ghost returned from hell.

She denied it in a whisper, but every word Yun Mu spoke seemed so genuine.

She looked at Yun Mu pleadingly, hoping for a denial.

Yet, in Yun Mu's exquisite eyes was a detachment tinged with cold malice and desolation.

"You want to pretend ignorance with just a simple 'I didn't know'? Did you learn that from Yun Shuiyao's manipulative ways? Don't act innocent!"

Yun Mu scoffed and, without turning back, hailed a taxi.

Lin Wanqing instinctively tried to follow but was stopped by Hao Tingcheng.

With a darkened expression, Lin Wanqing snapped, "Get out of my way!"

Seeing Hao Tingcheng's unwavering stern face, Lin Wanqing warned, "Do you know who Mumu is? A stray kid like you with unclear origins has no right to be by her side! What can you possibly give her?"

Hao Tingcheng's cold, unfeeling features were gradually enveloped in an icy chill as he said in a frigid tone, "The one who doesn't deserve it is you! From today onwards, I'll be looking out for Yun Mu. It's best for your Yun family to keep their distance from her!"

They are unworthy to be the parents of that woman!

After delivering his harsh words, Hao Tingcheng returned to his car and drove away.

On Lin Wanqing's exquisite face, all color had drained, leaving only two trails of tears.

How did it come to this?

She needed to uncover the truth about what had happened back then.

With her tears wiped away, Lin Wanqing rushed into her car and accelerated wildly, chasing after the taxi where Yun Mu was.

Disregarding traffic lights and other vehicles, she seemed to have put her life and death aside.

In her mind, there was only one thought: if she didn't catch up, she might truly lose her daughter forever.

The blaring horns outside the window caught Yun Mu's attention. She turned back to see Lin Wanqing's car closing in, repeatedly calling her name.

Yun Mu couldn't help but feel irritated.

"Miss, that woman seems to be calling you. Should we stop?" the driver asked.

"Stop? No way, speed up!" Yun Mu glanced out the window and grabbed the driver's collar. "Move aside, I'll drive!"

Yun Mu switched places with the driver, stepped on the gas, and began to race.

Within minutes, she left Lin Wanqing's car far behind.

When it came to racing, Yun Mu had never lost!

Just as Yun Mu was about to flash a triumphant smile, a deafening crash echoed from outside the car window.

"Bang!"

This was followed by the screeching of tires abruptly locking against the pavement.

The driver, peering out, exclaimed in horror, "There's been an accident! The woman who was chasing you just crashed into a guardrail!"

Yun Mu froze for a moment before slamming on the brakes.

She glanced into the rearview mirror...

In the next instant, her expression turned grim as she flung open the car door and dashed towards Lin Wanqing's vehicle. She pulled the unconscious Lin Wanqing out of the car and checked her pulse, assessing the injuries.

Fortunately, they were only minor wounds.

Yun Mu quickly stemmed the bleeding from Lin Wanqing's injured arm, dialed for an ambulance, and prepared to leave.

As she was about to leave, she turned back for a fleeting glance at Lin Wanqing's ashen face. Eventually, she steeled herself and turned away.

At that moment, a cacophony of police sirens echoed around them...

Several police cars rushed over, surrounding Yun Mu in a tight circle. It was an imposing sight.

The lead officers stepped out of their vehicles, displayed their badges to Yun Mu, and then stated in a detached tone, "Miss Yun Mu, we've received a report that you were driving under the influence of drugs and intentionally caused harm to another person."

Yun Mu's eyes were cold and aloof; her voice sharp and firm. "She crashed into me on her own. It has nothing to do with me! Besides, I wasn't driving under the influence of any drugs!"

A police officer stepped in Yun Mu's path, "You were just drag racing, and the wreckage is evidence enough. Are you attempting to flee the scene of the accident?"

Yun Mu's footsteps paused.

Unbeknownst to Yun Mu, numerous journalists had already surrounded her, feverishly snapping photographs. Clearly, this was a premeditated scenario.

It seemed that he couldn't leave easily today!

The ambulance had already taken Lin Wanqing away.

"Miss Yun is an insightful one, shall we take this journey together?"

Yun Mu was cuffed, yet she remained composed and graceful, offering no resistance.
