Chapter 52: Reunion with an Old Acquaintance
byChapter 52: Reunion with an Old Acquaintance
In the midst of this tranquility.
Outside a grand villa in the outskirts of the capital city, at the imposing iron gates.
There were four or five bulletproof Hummers and an extravagantly luxurious Bentley Mulsanne parked in a row.
The villa, surrounded by these high-end vehicles, appeared simple and unpretentious, yet it bore an ancient totem right in the center of its main gate.
The intricate and enigmatic totem symbolized the Ji family.
In the Southern Mystic Continent, the Ji surname had a long and storied lineage, tracing back to the royal family of a thousand years ago.
Every member of the Ji family carried within them the noble blood of royalty, renowned for their striking appearance and immense wealth.
At that very moment, within the villa's garden, a tall, blond-eyed man was leisurely sipping red wine while admiring the snowfall.
"You've got quite the idle life, huh, Ji Ming?"
Suddenly, a cold female voice echoed.
Simultaneously, a chilly dagger was pressed against the man's neck.
However, Ji Ming showed no fear. With a dashing sidestep, he chuckled mischievously, "What are you talking about? I've been so busy looking for you that I've lost weight. Don't believe me? Take a look."
As he spoke, Ji Ming grabbed Yun Mu's hand and guided it to touch his body.
Yun Mu slapped the back of Ji Ming's head, "Act normally, you're being too cheeky every day!"
"Damn it, why am I not normal? Do you know how many places I've searched day and night, how many countries I've been to just to find you? And what have you done? You're alive and well, yet you didn't even bother giving me a damn call! If I hadn't found you today, were you planning on never looking for me?"
"You bloody open your eyes and tell me, am I living well?" Yun Mu's voice was low and grave.
Only then did Ji Ming begin to scrutinize the slender young girl in front of him. She had just escaped from an explosion, appearing disheveled, but her clear eyes shone with an unusual brightness.
His throat twitched slightly as he reached out to lift the veil from the girl's face.
The moment he saw the unfamiliar face of the girl and the hideous scar on her left cheek, his expression froze like ice.
"Who the hell did this? I'll kill him!"
"This isn't my face, not really my body. Ji Ming, I've reincarnated into another form." Despite the eerie and spine-chilling statement, Yun Mu spoke with an uncanny calmness.
In the past, they might have dismissed any talk of ghosts or divine intervention.
But now...
"I don't know what continent this is, nor did I expect the Southern Mystic Continent or you to still exist in this timeline. I thought... I thought I'd never see you again."
Ji Ming opened his arms, pulling the young girl into a tender embrace. His oceanic blue eyes were filled with heartache and affection.
"It's okay now. As long as you're alive, it doesn't matter what form you take. By the way, how did you know I planted the bomb and find your way here?"
"I saw you a few days ago. You were like a rat running from a cat, vanished in an instant! Then, I saw my painting 'Gazing at the Moon' and guessed that you had come."
"So, you intentionally revealed yourself as Cloud Water Scholar and chose your old Capri for today's race?"
Ji Ming chuckled softly. "As expected, you planned every step, foreseeing the consequences a hundred steps ahead."
Yun Mu pushed him away and said solemnly, "By the way, how did you find this place?"
Ji Ming held up a black obsidian pendant. "Because of this pendant. It acts as a bridge between the two continents. You should have had a similar token on you back then. Where is yours?"
Yun Mu frowned. "I might've lost it."
Ji Ming dismissed it with a shrug. "It doesn't matter as long as you're safe and sound." He put away his carefree smile. "Amu, the Southern Abyss Continent hasn't been at peace lately. You should stay here for now. Remember, keep your identity hidden, and be cautious around Huo Tingcheng."
"Huo Tingcheng?" Yun Mu furrowed her brow.
Ji Ming nodded. "He's an enigma. I only met him once, but he seems to be searching for the connection to the Southern Abyss Continent as well. This involves the stability and survival of both continents. Be careful around him."
Yun Mu understood the gravity of the situation. Each world had its own balance, and disrupting it would undoubtedly bring unforeseen disasters.
"I understand. But I trust Huo Tingcheng," she replied.
Ji Ming's long eyelashes fluttered slightly, concealing the depth in his eyes.
"Caution is still key," Ji Ming said. "I can't stay here much longer. When things settle down, I'll come find you again."
Yun Mu nodded. "I know, see you later."
Then, she left without looking back.
Who knew what kind of chaos her outburst had caused over there!
This time, Ji Ming had played quite a risky game.
"At your service... We should be leaving as well," the stoic man at his side reminded him.
Despite inhabiting a new body, her figure remained exquisitely proud. Each departure was as effortless and unattached as the last. Was this her innate aloofness, or did it only apply to him?
...
By the seaside, Cheng Ming was directing his subordinates to search for someone in the water when Huo Tingcheng and a large entourage suddenly charged over.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Cheng Ming hurried to greet them.
"How did you get here, Miss Yun? Is she...?"
Huo Tingcheng interrupted him with a cold tone, "She can't be dead!"
Cheng Ming was speechless. Damn it, who are you to decide that?
How long have they been searching? Not a single trace of her!
Huo Tingcheng's sharp gaze swept across the scene - the exploded vehicle, the cliff, and the mountain - deep in thought.
Suddenly, he narrowed his eyes, glanced at Feng Shuo, and ordered in a low voice, "Block all entrances! Not even a fly is allowed out!"
The Di Jue Corporation dominated the empire with immense power.
As its president, Huo Tingcheng had every resource to do as he pleased, let alone seal off a few highways.
All entrances were sealed shut.
Yun Mu, on her way back, looked at the blocked road and exclaimed, "What's going on? Why block the roads for no reason?"
"Following orders, I'm not aware of the reason either. But there's been an incident ahead. Miss, perhaps you should visit another day."
Yun Mu grew impatient. "Clear the way for me!"
As she spoke, the roar of engines echoed from up front. She turned her gaze to catch sight of a familiar figure dashing out of a car...
Her beautiful eyes narrowed slightly in thought.
Huo Tingcheng—why was he here?
On the road, the biting cold wind lifted the corners of the man's clothing.
He exuded an aura of icy gloom, striding over with determination...
It seemed as if he was on a vengeful mission!
Yun Mu's heart skipped a beat. She quickly pushed open the car door and stepped out.
"Tingcheng, why are you..."
As Yun Mu was about to start her persuasive act, Huo Tingcheng abruptly pulled her close. In the blink of an eye, he seized the back of her head, lowered his face, and fiercely bit into her crimson lips.
His cold kiss carried the air of conquest and punishment, fierce and domineering.
Yun Mu's heart palpitated as she was forced to accept his passionate and assertive kiss. Amidst their entwined lips and teeth, she seemed to sense his subtle tremors of fear.
"Yun Mu, dare you leave?"
