    Chapter 426: Yi Hou's Scheme

The Yi family's underground scientific laboratory.

The dim, cold light filled the air with an atmosphere of terror.

Clad in a finely tailored handmade suit and metal-framed glasses, Yi Hou, surrounded by bodyguards, slowly entered the laboratory and looked at Dr. Karen, who was wearing disinfection gear.

    "Success?"

"Perfect! I'll show you the experiment right away, just wait a minute."

Dr. Karen said excitedly to Yi Hou, then took a drop of bright red potion from a nearby silver safe and applied it to a vibrant red rose in a petri dish.

In just one second, upon contact with the potion, the once bright and lively rose instantly withered and died, becoming a dried flower.

Dr. Karen said joyfully, "This is the most successful experiment yet, with a concentration of 99.99%. Just this one drop causes a rose to wither in one second, and for a human body, it would take only three months. This is a new type of poison, the closest to the withering grass—no, it shouldn't be called poison—it's destruction."

"Anyone who comes into contact with it will rapidly age within three months, with symptoms similar to those caused by the withering grass's blood disease, yet entirely different. Within three months, their appearance will wither, their hair will turn white, and they will eventually become as thin as a branch—dead!"

A cold, eerie light flickered in Yi Hou's eyes, "Excellent! After all these years, we've finally succeeded! How much of the drug have we extracted so far?"

"Only 2 milliliters—just enough to destroy one person."

"Too little! I want the entire Yun family to suffer like our Yi family—no, worse than our Yi family—utterly destroyed!" Yi Hou stared obsessively at the withered rose.

Though the withering grass has no cure, it has an extremely long incubation period in the body, so every Yi family member, despite being poisoned, can live for several decades. The shorter-lived ones make it into their twenties, while the longer-lived, like him, sustained by medication, can live up to about fifty years.

But this drug is different—it only takes three months to kill a person unknowingly.

"Put it into production quickly; I need a large quantity of this potion!" Yi Hou's eyes showed undisguised killing intent.

However, Dr. Karen said, "Mass production in a short time is unrealistic, as the raw materials are too precious and scarce. The fastest we can start production is within a year, extracting only 10 milliliters."

Yi Hou was dissatisfied, "So slow?"

"No other way," Dr. Karen shook his head, "but this potion still doesn't have a name, perhaps the Yi family head can think of one."

    A name?

Yi Hou coldly curled his lips, "Let's call it 'Cloud Destroyer'!"

    Dr. Karen, "!!!"

"Alright, as the Yi family head wishes."

Yi Hou contentedly took the remaining Cloud Destroyer, feeling that the humiliation he had suffered a few days ago was nothing. Even if the blood disease in his body worsened and no antidote was found, it didn't matter much anymore.

Because he had also found the drug to destroy the Yun family!

Over the years, everyone thought that sending Yi Yanran to study medicine and investing in Florenburg, making it a massive biomedical organization capable of rivaling the Yun family, was to develop an antidote for the blood disease.

But that was only one of his goals.

His ultimate goal was to develop a poison more toxic than the withering grass, to let the Yun family taste the bitterness of a generational curse!

Now, his goal is almost achieved.

As soon as Yi Hou stepped out of the underground experimental base, he ran into Yi Yanran.

"Dad, didn't the butler say you went out? Why are you coming out of the study?" Yi Yanran glanced into the study, unsure if she was seeing things, but it seemed like the bookshelf filled with books had suddenly closed.

She never expected that her father had secretly built a private laboratory behind the study to develop the "Cloud-Destroying Water" without her knowledge.

Yi Hou frowned in displeasure, "Why aren't you in class right now, just wandering around the house?"

Yi Yanran's eyes clouded over, "There's so much gossip about me out there, mocking me for marrying a murderer's son. How can I still go to school? Dad, why don't you support me in breaking off the engagement with Xuanyuan Xun?"

"You're the one who slept with Xuanyuan Xun, and now you're coming at me?"

Yi Yanran had indeed come to confront Yi Hou today. She had been going over the events of that day and felt she had figured out who had framed her.

"Dad, I was set up that night, why don't you believe me? Why did I just happen to run into Li Moran there and get photographed? And at the engagement banquet, Yun Mu and Yi Jue just happened to find evidence of Li Moran and you? This was all a setup by Yun Mu!" Yi Yanran was indignant.

Yi Hou narrowed his eyes, "Why would Yun Mu frame you? Her and Yi Jue's enemy is Li Moran; you're the one who stuck your nose in where it didn't belong!"

Yi Yanran's anger flared up even more, "Why do you always defend Yun Mu?"

"Because she doesn't screw up, but you do?" Yi Hou's dissatisfaction with his daughter grew, and he waved his hand impatiently, "Go, either get to class or get to the lab and work on the antidote!"

Yi Yanran's fists clenched tightly, "Dad, one day you'll see that I'm not inferior to Yun Mu!"

With that, she turned on her heel and left.

After leaving the Yi family, she got into her car and floored it, as if speed could somehow vent her frustration.

But at an intersection, a figure dashed out—it was Liu Yan.

"Are you trying to get killed?" Yi Yanran hit the brakes hard and got out of the car, yelling at Liu Yan.

Liu Yan, however, ignored everything else and kept asking Yi Yanran, "Miss, have you seen A'Ling? It's been almost two weeks, and I can't find her anywhere."

Only then did Yi Yanran remember that she hadn't seen that timid girl for a while.

"If you can't find her, go to the Liu family. Why are you asking me?" Yi Yanran snapped.

"She's not at the Liu family either, that little brat! She left, and before she did, she cleaned out the house. How are we supposed to live now?" Liu Yan clutched Yi Yanran's arm, pleading, "Miss, please help me. You have to find that little brat! Where did she go?"

Yi Yanran, however, was deep in thought.

Liu Ling was gone, and she had taken all the money from the house?

She knew Liu Ling's timid nature all too well. Unless something big had happened, why would she just vanish?

And taking the money with her—she must have skipped town!

Her eyes narrowed as she looked at Liu Yan. "Tell me everything. When did Liu Ling disappear? What did she do before she vanished, and who did she see?"

Liu Yan nodded eagerly. "Alright, alright! Miss, it's so good of you to help. I'll tell you everything right now!"
