    Chapter 59: Rescuing Aunt Zhang

The car sped along and came to a halt near an old warehouse after an hour.

They didn't dare drive too close, for fear of alerting the enemy.

Feng Shuo led a team to circle around the back of the warehouse while Yun Mu and Hao Tingcheng approached head-on.

Yun Mu held a dagger, crouching low against the wall to listen for any sounds from inside.

Hao Tingcheng stayed by her side throughout, and Yun Mu enjoyed this sense of security, having someone watching her back.

This feeling was peculiar to the Female War Goddess.

Suddenly, a heart-wrenching cry of pain came from the second floor of the old warehouse.

    It was Aunt Zhang!

Yun Mu's expression changed. With a graceful leap, she reached the window on the second floor. There, she saw several tall men surrounding Aunt Zhang. One of them held a gleaming dagger, which he had just plunged into the old woman's palm. He sneered, "Will you talk or not? If you don't, I'll slit your throat next!"

    A pack of beasts!

Yun Mu suppressed her fury, scanning the number of individuals hiding in the warehouse, approximately sixteen in total.

With a stern expression and a sinister tone, she commanded, "Charge in!"

Huo Tingcheng abruptly grabbed her wrist. His deep eyes fixated on her as he said, "I'll go first. I've told you, leave the fighting to me!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than Huo Tingcheng leaped forward, using the windowsill to propel himself up to the second floor.

    This man was quite skilled!

Yun Mu raised an eyebrow, her speed equally swift as she followed closely behind.

Unaware of the intrusion, several kidnappers were swiftly taken down by Huo Tingcheng's lightning-fast moves.

    Screams echoed throughout the area.

The outsiders, hearing the commotion, prepared to enter for support. However, they were caught off guard when Feng Shuo led his team in, overpowering the kidnappers in just a few moves.

All the kidnappers were subdued – this was the first time the Female War Goddess had triumphed without lifting a finger.

Yun Mu rushed to Aunt Zhang's side, untied her, and helped her sit down.

"Miss... Miss... You're here, you saved me again..."

    "Rest for now, don't talk!"

Aunt Zhang was covered in blood. Yun Mu tore off a piece of her clothing and swiftly bandaged her wounds to stop the bleeding.

Fortunately, they were only superficial injuries, and they arrived in time before the kidnappers could inflict more harm on Aunt Zhang.

But Aunt Zhang was already frail, and this ordeal would likely exhaust her even further...

Yun Mu's face paled as she abruptly stood up. "Ting Cheng, can you keep an eye on Aunt Zhang for me?"

Huo Ting Cheng nodded, passing her the dagger in his hand with unspoken understanding.

The kidnappers, severely injured and groaning on the ground, watched in fear as Yun Mu approached them with two daggers in hand. "Boss, please spare us!" they pleaded.

Yun Mu raised her hands, and two daggers pierced into the man's thighs!

"Aaaah!" The man's agonizing cry echoed through the heavens.

    Blood splattered everywhere!

With a cold glint in her eyes, Yun Mu twirled the daggers within the flesh, creating a bloody, mangled hole.

The man was in such excruciating pain that he almost lost consciousness.

    "Who sent you?"

Sweating profusely from the pain, the man wailed, "I... I don't know!"

Yun Mu withdrew the daggers and placed them between the man's neck arteries, saying icy coldly, "Think carefully before you answer. Otherwise, my dagger might just carve a hole in your neck. At that time, you won't be dead yet. You'll feel your blood draining from your body, and your life slipping away bit by bit..."

Terrified, the man soiled himself and cried, "I really don't know... Boss, please don't kill me! I'm just a hired hand. I only know that a man gave me money... a lot of money... to abduct this old lady and ask for a camera from her!"

Yun Mu narrowed her gaze and turned to look at Hao Tingcheng.

Huo Tingcheng's face was icy-cold as he struggled to maintain a calm tone. "He doesn't seem to be lying."

Indeed, it didn't appear to be a lie – the man had even wet himself in fear.

There was no point in asking any further!

Yun Mu stood up and tossed the dagger to Feng Shuo, her voice cold. "I'll leave these kidnappers to you. I'm going to find someone!"

Huo Tingcheng, with great effort, supported himself and said, "I'll go with you."

    Yun Mu smiled and nodded.

Aunt Zhang had lost too much blood and had fainted.

Yun Mu didn't have time to question her about the camera, so she instructed others to send her to the hospital first.

This time, she handed Aunt Zhang directly to Lu Nansen. Huo Tingcheng issued a stern order – if anyone else went missing, their head must be brought to him!

Yun Mu got into the car and took the driver's seat, flooring the accelerator and speeding away.

She was going to find Huo Jinzhou - someone who was aware of Aunt Zhang's existence and likely knew the secrets she kept hidden.

Perhaps he even knew who had abducted her!

In the car, only Yun Mu and Ho Tingcheng were present, and the silence within was deafening.

Consequently, the heavy breathing of one person was acutely audible to the other.

Yun Mu abruptly slammed on the brakes and turned to look at the man beside her.

Reaching out, she turned Ho Tingcheng's face towards her.

    Her breath caught!

The man's eyes were shut tight, his thin lips clenched, beads of sweat trickling down his chiseled features. His forehead was drenched, and his ashen complexion was almost translucent, a terrifying sight!

The painkillers were no longer effective.

The agony from the venom's effects was an excruciating torment that Ho Tingcheng could barely endure, let alone fight off the kidnappers.

In her effort to endure the pain, her lips were almost bleeding!

Accompanied by a unique fragrance, a warm little hand covered his forehead and held his pulse.

    Then, she embraced him tightly.

"Why didn't you say anything when your poison was acting up?"

"No wonder you weren't talking much on the way here!"

Did he persist in accompanying her to save Aunt Zhang from the moment they left?

A twinge of bitterness washed over Yun Mu as she gritted her teeth and cursed, "Fool!"

Feeling a warm embrace wrap around him, Huo Tingcheng managed a small smile, his voice hoarse, "It's okay, I can handle it!"

"But I can't! I can't just watch you suffer!" With one arm around Huo Tingcheng, Yun Mu steered the car to the side of the road with the other.

Huo Tingcheng was in so much pain that he was barely conscious. He muttered in a low, raspy voice, "I'm fine... We need to find Jinzhou first..."

As for him, Huo Tingcheng, he would never allow himself to become a burden to his woman!

    How humiliating!

"Shut up!" Yun Mu gritted her teeth. "Huo Jinzhou isn't going anywhere, but you'll lose your life if you keep this up!"

Though her words were harsh, Yun Mu held Huo Tingcheng with an uncommon gentleness.

Huo Tingcheng, what did I owe you in my past life?

You had to come back from the dead just to make me pay it off this time!

Yun Mu let out a soft sigh and pulled out her golden needles, beginning to treat the unconscious man in her arms who was writhing in pain.

Huo Tingcheng, you can't die. You have to hold on until I find a way to save you.

Suddenly, a spark of inspiration flashed through Yun Mu's mind.

Perhaps, if she could return to the Southern Mystic Continent and obtain the medicine, Huo Tingcheng would surely be saved...

But, can she ever return to the Southern Mystic Continent?
