### Chapter 180 Public Opinion and the Truth

### Chapter 180 Public Opinion and the Truth

At this moment, news of the accident at the engagement banquet of the Huo and Yun families had spread across the internet.

All media outlets and marketing accounts were reporting that Yun Shuiyao, Huo Jinzhou's fiancée, was injured while saving Old Master Huo, resulting in a miscarriage and her life hanging by a thread, causing much sorrow.

Some marketing accounts even speculated whether Yun Mu had orchestrated the accident, given their well-known rivalry.

Outside the hospital, reporters of all sizes gathered, waiting for the latest scoop.

The stock market barely reacted to this incident for the Huo Group, but public opinion was putting significant pressure on them.

Yun Shuiyao was injured while saving Old Master Huo. If Huo Jinzhou did not marry her now, the Huo family would be labeled as ungrateful.

Back at the Huo residence, Old Master Huo found Huo Tingying leisurely lying in a rocking chair in the courtyard, sipping wine and playing with Yuangungun.

"Come to my study," Old Master Huo glanced at him and headed upstairs first.

Huo Tingying slowly got up and entered the study. "What is it?"

Huo Tingying looked at him. "Sit."

Huo Tingying sat down opposite Old Master Huo, holding his wine glass.

"What do you think about today's incident?"

Huo Tingying slightly raised his eyelids and looked at Old Master Huo.

Old Master Huo sighed softly. "Because of today's accident, public opinion is unfavorable towards our family. I want to hear your thoughts."

"Do you really believe today's incident was an accident?"

Old Master Huo was slightly surprised. "Do you think someone planned it?"

"The incident happened suddenly, and there were no obvious traces left at the scene. But Feng Shuo examined it and found that the chandelier had been tampered with. However, we have no other evidence yet, indicating that the perpetrator had planned it meticulously."

Old Master Huo's expression turned serious. "What is their goal? To assassinate me, an old man?"

Huo Tingying slightly lifted his gaze and shared his thoughts.

"You've retired long ago; what good would killing you do? But what if their target was Yun Shuiyao from the start?"

Old Master Huo nodded. "That makes sense. Yun Shuiyao was carrying the Huo family's eldest grandson and is also a Yun family lady... But who would target a pregnant woman? Could it be..."

Suddenly, Old Master Huo thought of something.

But he immediately dismissed it. It couldn't be Yun Mu!

Huo Tingying saw through Old Master Huo's thoughts and changed the subject. "How is Yun Shuiyao?"

Old Master Huo replied, "She lost the baby but is out of immediate danger. Regardless, this accident can only be remedied with a wedding."

Huo Tingying took a sip of wine calmly. "Grandfather, have you considered who stands to benefit most from this accident?"

Old Master Huo's eyes narrowed. "Are you suggesting that Yun Shuiyao orchestrated the accident herself?"

The biggest victim of this accident was undoubtedly Yun Shuiyao.

But the biggest beneficiary could also be Yun Shuiyao. As Old Master Huo's savior, her status within the Huo family would not be lower than Yun Mu's.

Old Master Huo, a seasoned businessman, quickly picked up on this subtle point.

Huo Tingying said, "Under public pressure, even without the child, Huo Jinzhou has no choice but to marry her. This way, even if the Yun family abandons her, she can secure her place in the Huo family. A clever plan!"

Old Master Huo frowned. "But why would she need to do this? Wouldn't her position be more stable if she gave birth safely?"

"You ask a good question. I also wonder why she chose to do this?" Huo Tingying squinted his eyes. "Perhaps there was something wrong with the child?"

Initially, he thought Yun Shuiyao was faking her pregnancy, but he didn't expect her to actually be pregnant.

Old Master Huo was shocked. "Could the child not be Jinzhou's?!"

"You'd have to ask Huo Jinzhou about that, see if his head is green."

Huo Tingying had reviewed the surveillance footage from the banquet hall. After Old Master Huo finished greeting people and was heading to the sofa, Yun Shuiyao suddenly approached him, keeping him under the chandelier.

And just then, the chandelier fell.

An accident?

Impossible.

But Yun Shuiyao had no reason to risk her own life and the child's to save Old Master Huo, as everyone fears death.

After pondering for a moment, Old Master Huo said, "Let's keep this quiet for now. Investigate the truth of tonight's incident secretly. Also, I'll talk to Jinzhou. If he has no objections, we'll hold the wedding once Yun Shuiyao recovers."

Huo Tingying nodded, showing no objection.

Old Master Huo added, "What about Yun Mu? I've seen some negative comments about her online. Comfort her a bit."

"She's reading medical books in her room. Don't worry, those rumors won't affect her."

Huo Tingying left the study and found Yuangungun scratching a ball of yarn in the hallway.

He opened the door to her room and found the light on and the book on the table, but Yun Mu was nowhere to be seen.

Huo Tingying searched around but found no one. He called her phone, but there was no answer.

Where did this woman go?

Imperial Capital's Rende Private Hospital.

The hospital ward corridor was quiet and eerie, with dim lighting.

Bathed in the moonlight seeping through the corridor window, Yun Mu found Yun Shuiyao’s ward.

A dark shadow flashed past Yun Mu.

In an instant, that figure lunged forward, suddenly wrapping its arms tightly around Yun Mu from behind, pressing a dagger against her neck.

The force was so strong that it seemed as if any slight movement by Yun Mu would cost her her life.

Yun Mu held her breath, a flash of mockery crossing her eyes, showing no panic.

In the next moment, she knelt down and thrust her arm backward!

The movement was swift as lightning.

Accompanied by the man’s cry of pain, the dagger clattered to the ground.

Yun Mu leaped up, seizing the opportunity to snatch the dagger and press it against the man’s waist.

"You’re the man who has been hiding behind Yun Shuiyao. Who are you to her?"

The man seemed to sneer but did not answer.

Yun Mu landed a right hook to the man’s abdomen.

"Speak!"

The man grunted, still gritting his teeth in silence.

Yun Mu had a keen eye for people; this man had ordinary skills but was definitely tight-lipped.

"Do you think I can’t find out if you don’t speak? The fire at the Yun family five years ago—was that also your doing?"

Finally, the man’s expression changed abruptly.

Yun Mu’s beautiful eyes narrowed slightly. "You’re helping Yun Shuiyao so much; you must be very close to her. Let me guess, you are..."

Before Yun Mu could finish, the man suddenly lunged forward.

"Pfft—"

The dagger was forced into the man’s body.

Trying to kill yourself?!

Yun Mu was shocked and quickly withdrew the dagger, stepping back.

Taking advantage of this moment, the man pushed Yun Mu aside and fled swiftly.

Yun Mu hurriedly chased after him, but the commotion had already alerted the nurses. To avoid making a scene, Yun Mu had to hide temporarily.
