Unless your boyfriend has three heads and six arms, he simply wouldn't have the time.
"He's got a packed schedule; there's no room for infidelity."
Deng Anqing, uneasy, asked, "Has Master made a mistake?"
Chu Yuening shook her head. "Is your boyfriend at work right now?"
"Yes, he left before me."
"Have you ever visited his workplace?"
Deng Anqing shook her head. "In all this time we've been dating, I've never been to his company."
Upon saying that, Deng Anqing became puzzled. "Could the truth really lie within his company?"
Chu Yuening remained silent.
Deng Anqing rose from his seat, hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided to visit the place where his boyfriend worked. It wasn't too far from the city hall, so he hailed a taxi.
Chu Yuening didn't join him. Instead, she walked over to the food cart and served Ah Fa and Nancy two bowls of sweet syrup from the ice cream chest. "Thank you both for looking out for me."
Ah Fa, taken aback by her gesture, hastily replied, "Oh no, no, no, Master is too kind." He didn't expect the delicate fingers that read fortunes to personally bring them sweet syrup. "Many thanks."
As Nancy sipped the syrup, her eyes sparkled with delight. She praised, "It tastes wonderful. But, Ah Fa."
Ah Fa acknowledged her.
"Nancy, after drinking Master's syrup, do you think we'll have good luck today?"
"Of course, it's sweet syrup made by none other than Master herself."
After their playful banter, Chu Yuening, using her fingers to divine, glanced into the grocery store. The spacious store was filled with mushroom products, and by the wall, near the cash register, there was a landline phone.
She withdrew her gaze and offered a warm smile. "Excuse me, may I borrow your landline phone?"
The girl had fair skin, her slightly curly long hair cascading down, her lustrous eyes curved into a smile, and her delicate fingers formed an "O" shape by her ear, exuding a gentle and tranquil demeanor.
Sister Nancy, who had spent years in the nightlife scene, had seen her share of extraordinary beauties, but she had never come across this particular type. Abandoning her sugary drink, she perked up instantly, her smile blooming as she nudged Ah Fa to make way.
"Sure, sure, take all the time you need."
Chu Yuening had just entered to borrow the landline phone and dialed a number. Only after the police's voice came through did she speak.
"Officer, I need to report a crime."
After a few minutes on the line, she hung up and called Li Huiwen. "I have a big scoop for you. Could you send someone to stake out the place?"
Li Huiwen's thrilled voice echoed beyond the receiver.
Chu Yuening held the phone a little farther away from her ear.
"No problem! If Master Chu is tipping me off, I'll definitely be there!"
Outside the office building, Deng Anqing pondered for a long while before finally approaching the reception desk to inquire.
"Excuse me, is Zhuo Liu upstairs?"
Despite being in a three-year relationship with her boyfriend, Deng Anqing had never visited his workplace.
After asking, she held her breath, her mind racing with countless possibilities. Perhaps her boyfriend didn't actually work there at all; he might have just picked a random location to deceive her.
"He's on the second floor," the receptionist replied.
Deng Anqing secretly exhaled in relief upon hearing this.
However, the receptionist's expression was somewhat peculiar as she sized up Deng Anqing and asked, "May I ask what your relationship is with Zhuo Liu? We don't entertain guests without prior appointments."
"I'm his girlfriend," Deng Anqing responded.
"So you're his girlfriend," the receptionist said.
Deng Anqing couldn't be sure if she was mistaken, but she seemed to detect a hint of sympathy in the receptionist's gaze.
The receptionist stepped out from behind the desk and pressed the elevator button for him. "You can go straight up to find him."
In a private room on the second floor.
The man was entwined with a woman old enough to be his mother, engaged in intimate activities unsuitable for description.
After they were done, the woman kissed Zhuo Liu affectionately and lifted his chin, praising him. "I heard you're planning to marry your girlfriend?"
"It's something for this year," Zhuo Liu turned his face aside, his eyes showing disdain for the woman's aged appearance, but he still managed to cajole her. "My family is pushing me, and I'm at that age. You can't divorce your husband to marry me anyway. Whether or not I get married, you'll always be my favorite."
"You wish," the woman poked Zhuo Liu's chest playfully. "But tell me, do you like me for who I am or for my money?"
"Of course it's for you," Zhuo Liu answered with ample patience, coaxing the wealthy woman. "We've been together for five years, and my feelings for you are more genuine than gold. Don't you know that by now?"
"She has a point, but the thought of another woman becoming your lawful wife doesn't sit well with me," the woman said, suddenly recalling something. "By the way, are you sure she doesn't know about us two?"
"Relax," Zhuo Liu reassured her. "An Qing would never uncover such matters. She's innocent and romantic—she believes whatever I tell her."
As Zhuo Liu mentioned his girlfriend's name, a tinge of guilt stirred within him. After all, they had genuinely cared for each other for three years; he couldn't help but have some feelings for her.
Still, there was no alternative.
He worked in the investment sector, and five years ago, he lost everything. At his wits' end, Sister Shan had pulled him out of the abyss, the price being that he became her lover. Now, many of his investment clients were through Sister Shan's connections with her high-society friends. If he left Sister Shan, he would lose everything.
Sister Shan stroked Zhuo Liu's face. "I don't care about all that. If you do anything to betray me, watch yourself."
"Rest assured, I will never leave you."
No sooner had Zhuo Liu finished speaking than he saw the private room's door swing open, revealing a stunned Deng Anqing standing outside. His expression changed drastically; he immediately let go of Sister Shan and scrambled to retrieve his pants from the floor.
"Anqing, let me explain!"
Deng Anqing first glanced at the woman who had ensnared her boyfriend. The more she looked, the more familiar she found her. Through teary eyes, she managed a smile. "So, the wife of the jeweler is your big client."
