by 陈年奶泡The joy of retrieval made Xu Dan treasure her watch as she smiled and said, "Thanks to you, it wasn't lost. Do you have anything you want? Anything at all, I'll give it to you as a token of appreciation."
"No need," Chu Yuening declined. "It was just a small favor, and besides, you've already given me theater tickets before."
"You watched it!" Xu Dan was delighted. "Not many young people enjoy watching plays nowadays."
She was an avid theater enthusiast, but unfortunately, she had never found a like-minded friend to share the experience with.
"Next time I have tickets, would you like to join me?"
As Xu Dan finished speaking, she noticed the small brick-like mobile phone in Chu Yuening's hand. Swiftly, she rummaged through her bag to retrieve her own mobile phone, eager to exchange numbers.
Suddenly, the café door swung open.
A group of people entered, behaving nonchalantly while scanning the room as if searching for someone.
Spotting one of them, Xu Dan hastily stood up and sat next to Chu Yuening, attempting to shield her from view.
"It seems like those gangsters from earlier are seeking revenge. Young miss, you should leave first and report to the police."
"What about you?" Chu Yuening asked.
"I... I'll be fine. My son is a police officer, they won't dare touch me," Xu Dan realized the perks of having a son in law enforcement amidst her panic.
A large group had just entered the café.
The blond, blue-eyed owner emerged and, after assessing their attire, proceeded to repeatedly shoo them away in English, using derogatory terms.
One of the gangsters growled, "Foreigner, we don't understand your language."
The owner turned to head behind the counter to call the police station.
Feiyu hung up the phone that the foreign owner had picked up. Scanning the café, he reassured, "Don't worry, we're not here to cause trouble."
As he spoke, he directed his gaze back at the foreign owner.
With a hint of mockery.
"And, don't be too polite. You've borrowed quite a sum from us. Don't think you can avoid repayment just because we haven't been hounding you!"
"Huh? The Fourteenth Gang?" The foreign boss's expression changed drastically upon hearing about the debt. He promptly took Feiyu's hand and smiled apologetically.
"Third Master, I didn't recognize you just now. Chinese people all look so alike, and it's difficult for me to distinguish, being new here."
"That's alright. As long as you recognize the debt." Feiyu snorted coldly.
Debt, debt, debt.
The foreign boss felt extremely awkward. "Third Master, since we're in the business of serving customers, could you please lower your voice? It wouldn't give off a good impression if others overheard."
"A bad impression?" Feiyu sneered.
What nonsense.
He was just about to kick them out without considering any consequences.
"Well, if you're open for business, then every customer is welcome. What kind of attitude did you have earlier? Besides, you didn't seem to care about a bad impression when borrowing money. What impact could my rightful demand for repayment possibly have? Start by paying back some first."
With one hand on his hip supporting his leather jacket, Flyfish reached out playfully.
The foreign boss was perplexed. "But it's not yet time to repay."
"Why can't I do it today when I'm in a good mood?" Flyfish urged impatiently. "Hurry up."
Reluctantly, the foreign boss had to take out part of the day's earnings from the counter to make an early repayment, no longer displaying his initial arrogance.
"I want to find someone, can't I?" Flyfish slapped the money into the palm of his hand and slipped it into his back pocket, his tongue teasing his cheek.
"No problem. Go ahead and find whoever you like." The foreign boss tried to pat Flyfish on the shoulder to establish rapport.
"Stay away from me. Your bad luck might transfer over," Flyfish frowned, shrugging off the touch. Ever since the previous incident, he had become extremely superstitious.
For instance, before playing mahjong, he would ask a lucky person for money, believing that his luck would also improve, enabling him to win.
And he believed that one should never let an unlucky person touch them, lest they be implicated by their misfortune.
The foreign boss had borrowed substantial sums from loan sharks for gambling, and Flying Fish was the last to want to be entangled with such a curse.
Scanning the scene, his eyes landed on a radiant woman by the window.
A smile finally lit up Flying Fish's gloomy face as he called out, "Master Chu!"
Chu Yuening lifted her head and immediately spotted Flying Fish briskly making his way over with his group.
She blinked. "Brother Fish?"
Flying Fish hurriedly waved his hands, embarrassed. "Master Chu, just call me Fish. How could I be worthy of you addressing me as 'brother'?"
The gangsters behind him all bowed in unison and chorused.
"Sis Ning!"
In an instant, many patrons in the cafe turned their attention towards them.
"Yuening Elder Sister?" Flying Fish spun around, giving each of them a hard knock on the head. His enraged voice echoed loudly in the quiet café.
"One by one, you're disgracing me. Does Master Chu have such disgraceful younger brothers? Change your tune!"
The subordinates promptly corrected themselves and bowed again.
"Master Chu!"
Not only were the café patrons watching, but now people on the street had also started to take notice.
Chu Yuening couldn't help but smile through her frustration. "What are you doing here at the café?"
Flying Fish's expression turned furious. He spun around and, from the crowd, found the person he was looking for, kicking them to the ground in a kneeling position.
"It's all because of this damn thief!"
Chu Yuening recognized the culprit and exchanged a glance with Madam Zhou.
It was the same person who had snatched the purse earlier.
The younger brother knelt on the ground, fearfully pleading for mercy, "Master Chu, I didn't know it was you! If I had known the bag belonged to you, I definitely wouldn't have dared to snatch it!"
"Pathetic!" With a flick of his wrist, Feiyu lit his cigarette while blocking the air conditioner's breeze. "Not only did he fail to snatch the bag, but he still has the nerve to complain and gather minions for revenge. One of them came to report, describing someone who looked very similar to Master Chu. When I asked him, he said she was young and beautiful with a small mole on the side of her nose."
"Of course! As soon as I heard that, I knew it had to be Master Chu! So I brought my men here to confess our wrongdoing!"
Feiyu grew increasingly dissatisfied as he spoke, "What a useless bunch! Even in the Fourteenth Gang, they engage in such despicable acts, bringing shame to my name, Feiyu."
The younger brother, trembling in fear, clung to Feiyu's trouser leg again, "Boss, I won't do it anymore, I promise I won't!"
Feiyu kicked the younger brother towards Chu Yuening, "You offended Master Chu, so apologize directly to her!"
