Yang Xiuneng shot up abruptly, his gaze locking onto Chu Yuening behind him. Meeting her clear eyes, he felt a chill run down his spine as he denied fervently, "Impossible, it can't be."
Chu Yuening glanced at him indifferently and pointed at the three mountains with two fingers. "Look closely. Are these three mountains truly aligned?"
Yang Xiuneng rubbed his eyes fiercely, focusing intently on the trio. The more he observed, the clearer it became to him. Gradually, he realized that the middle mountain appeared level with the other two only because the trees atop were taller; in reality, its peak was shorter than the others.
His face paled dramatically.
"How can three unequally sized mountains be called the Three Platforms Formation? Min Liangpeng's feng shui might be good, but it doesn't reach the level of the Three Platforms. At best, it could ensure prosperity and safety for future generations."
Chu Yuening's expression turned cold. "Your miscalculation of the feng shui indirectly helped Gong Jinzhi bring about the death of the four Min family members. You must bear the consequences and karma."
With a gasp, Yang Xiuneng clutched his aching chest and spat out a mouthful of blood.
His face was ashen, yet he stubbornly refused to admit defeat. "No, I couldn't have made a mistake in feng shui reading."
As he spoke,
Yang Xiuneng spat out another mouthful of blood.
Liantian Village Police Station.
With the villagers' assistance, Chu Yuening reexamined the feng shui for Min Liangpeng's coffin and conducted a ritual to ease the passage of the four deceased members of the Min family.
When all was said and done, it was time for them to give their statements at the police station. Min Yan and Gong Jinzhi were both arrested for tomb robbery and desecration of a corpse.
Realizing the gravity of her situation as the handcuffs were placed on her, Gong Jinzhi burst into tears in despair.
Crying bitterly, she pounded on Min Yan. "It's over, everything's over! I just asked the lawyer, and he said the minimum sentence is ten years in prison!"
Both of them were already in their forties. What would be left of their lives after serving a decade behind bars?
"I don't even have any children!" The more Gong Jinzhi thought about it, the more unbearable it became.
Min Yan remained silent, allowing her to hit him without protest.
Chu Yuening followed the policewoman to give her statement. As they passed by, she paused and glanced at them. "Do you know why you don't have children?"
"Why... Why?" Gong Jinzhi was stunned. She knew of Chu Yuening's incredible powers and that she could locate Min Liangpeng's grave with a single move.
For two decades, she had yearned for a child, trying every possible method in vain.
With an intense longing, Gong Jinzhi, wearing handcuffs, stood up and forced a smile. "M-Master, please guide me. Though I'm going to jail, I still have money. I'll pay any amount as long as I can conceive."
Chu Yuening replied, "You were once pregnant."
"Pregnant?" Gong Jinzhi widened her eyes and looked down at her belly, now hidden by layers of fat. "Impossible! If I were pregnant, I would've known."
Unperturbed, Chu Yuening asked, "On the day the Min family's two children jumped to their deaths, did you bleed profusely at home?"
Gong Jinzhi instinctively placed her cuffed hands protectively over her stomach. "How do you know?"
"I naturally know," Chu Yuening smiled gently.
"At that time, the child you carried was traded to save the Min family's children, even twins."
With that, she followed the officer to give her statement, leaving behind Gong Jinzhi's heart-wrenching cries.
Sunlight filtered in, causing her to squint slightly.
Did she think it was just ten years of imprisonment?
Certainly not. Gong Jinzhi and Min Yan would live out the rest of their days under an immense shadow, haunted by the vengeful spirits of the Min family in their dreams night after night. The three decades of life they had left were now halved.
Outside the police station, a police car pulled up.
The person who stepped out was Guo Shaozhan, a detective from the A team of the Kowloon Criminal Investigation Department. In his middle age, he wore a black suit, his hair graying at the temples, and carried a stack of files under his arm. His gait had a slight outward turn.
Upon entering the main hall, Guo Xiao heard a cacophony of wailing and lamenting. He found it peculiar and shook hands with the officer who had come out to meet him. "What happened? Why so many people?"
The officer took the files and replied, "Coffin theft and desecration of a corpse. According to the culprit, it was merely due to the better feng shui of the victim's burial ground."
Guo Xiao shook his head. "It's the 20th century, the age of modernity. We shouldn't cling to superstitions. Well, this jail meal will be a good lesson for them."
"Nah," the waiter gestured towards the window with a nod. "The feng shui master who identified the need for a coffin change is sitting right there."
Guo Xiao followed the direction of the gesture.
The girl had her hair elegantly tied up, radiating a serene aura as she sat against the light. Unfazed by the police officer's inquiries, she laughed and conversed with ease.
"Hmm?"
Guo Xiao furrowed his brow. "She looks somewhat familiar? As if I've seen her somewhere before?"
Normally, people in the Major Case Squad had excellent memory. Yet, no matter how hard Guo Xiao tried to recall, he couldn't place her.
Suffering from a headache from overthinking, Guo Xiao massaged his temple with one hand and ceased dwelling on it. He engaged the waiter in a discussion about the ongoing case in the Kowloon A Team, waited for the reply document to be printed, then left with it.
The police car roared away, its engine echoing in the distance.
Chu Yuening retracted her gaze.
Village Chief Min waited at the entrance with his sister, Min Xiaomin, and brother, Little Hui.
Upon seeing the Master emerge, Village Chief Min handed his cane to Little Hui and presented a prepared envelope with both hands, "Master, this is a little money collected from everyone. I've heard that Xuanxue Masters need money to alleviate karma and misfortune. Twenty yuan from Little Hui won't be enough, right? Please take it."
Chu Yuening smiled, "That applies to others."
The cultivation method she practiced allowed her to offset karma with virtue, leaving no impact on herself.
However, there were very few Xuan Masters who could manipulate karma directly.
They bore the mandate of heaven, thus acting on its behalf.
"Please, Master, don't hesitate," Village Chief Min said, feeling ashamed as he glanced at Little Hui, "I failed in my duty as a village chief. For three years, Liang Peng's grave was tampered with, and I had no idea."
