"Yes."
Yu Feiyang was thoroughly convinced. It wasn't surprising that such a skilled master could pinpoint A'Zhen's location. If not for the fact that only two people were present during those events, one might have suspected the presence of a third party.
The neighbors resumed their discussion.
"Making ginger soup, bringing you home, and meeting the parents."
"A girl going to such lengths, it's hard to say she's not interested."
Everyone was delighted for Yu Feiyang.
"This time, your confession is a sure bet. You'll definitely be taken off the market."
"Congratulations, brother! After 28 years of being single, your hard times are over, and you can finally settle down."
Yu Feiyang hadn't given much thought to these incidents before, but upon hearing his neighbors' analysis, he realized that the girl also liked him. It wasn't a one-sided affection. His face lit up with an ear-to-ear grin, unable to contain his joy.
After his laughter subsided, Yu Feiyang turned to look at Chu Yuening.
Chu Yuening was pouring tea, holding the lid of the teapot with one hand while pouring water, her expression vastly different from the cheerful neighbors.
She lifted her gaze and asked, "But is there something you didn't mention?"
Yu Feiyang was taken aback. "What thing?"
"Just that, she always wore a veil on your dates. You seemed unsure of what she looked like from the beginning to the end, right?"
Logically, it would be hard to develop feelings for someone who was consistently veiled and unseen.
Yet, not only had Yu Feiyang developed feelings, but they were strong ones.
Yu Feiyang explained, "She did explain this to me. It's simply that she doesn't want a relationship to start based on physical appearance. I can understand such an approach."
Some neighbors grew worried.
"You haven't seen her face? It couldn't be like that Mr. Shan from last time, who turned out to be a man, could it?"
"Yes, Mr. Shan was foolish enough to fall for it and lose money."
"No way," Yu Feiyang replied confidently. With his years of experience as a police officer, he wouldn't mistake someone's gender.
"I support her actions, and I don't judge people by their appearance. I value the resonance of souls more."
Chu Yuening smiled.
She still remembered the last Mr. Shan who claimed not to judge by looks.
With the obstacle cleared, Yu Feiyang clenched his fist, even more excited about the confession. "Since the Master is also a girl, what else should I prepare besides flowers? Could you give me some advice?"
"Advice?" Chu Yuening put down the teapot and smiled gently. "Sure, I have some."
"I advise you to buy a charm with me."
"Otherwise, you'll surely die on the day of your confession."
As the crowd dispersed, Chu Yuening prepared to pack up. Just as she was about to tidy up, Lin Jiahua put down the empty tart dish and rolled up his sleeves to help.
"NieNie," Lin Jiahua wiped the table with a cloth. He still had some doubts about the fortune-telling session they just had.
"Was the danger on Officer Yu's confession day related to that girl?"
Chu Yuening stacked the teacups back onto the small tea set. Not only did Cao Daguang gift her a large tea set, but he also provided a smaller one.
During previous fortune-telling sessions, her throat would become dry, and she could only temporarily quench her thirst with sugared water. With the tea set, apart from anything else, it made drinking water much more convenient.
After arranging the cups, she replied, "Yes."
"Well, if there's something wrong with the girl, why doesn't Officer Yu just cut off contact?" Lin Jiahua was puzzled. "Why does he still want to meet her?"
"Firstly, there are some people in this world who are incredibly persistent. They won't shed tears until they see the Yellow River," Chu Yuening sighed. "Officer Yu happens to be one of them."
"Secondly, Officer Yu is already being targeted. From now on, wherever he goes, it'll be like he has a tracker on him. The other party can find him at any time."
"That's really scary," Lin Jiahua shuddered at the thought of being in the same situation.
"Miss Chu?"
A voice caught Chu Yuening's attention, and she looked up to see Nancy, an employee from Boss Yuan's shop.
Nancy approached and examined the stall. "So you're running a stall here."
Back when Chu Yuening had set up her stall at the grocery store, Nancy had helped fend off some troublemakers.
Feeling grateful, Chu Yuening, who still had some dessert left, opened the ice cream chest and served another bowl.
"Try this, Nancy."
Nancy accepted the dessert with a shy smile. "Miss Chu, you're a master. I can't bear to be called 'sister' by you."
She had tasted Chu Ji's dessert before and found it delicious.
"Why are you here in Temple Street today? Isn't Boss Yuan's shop busy?" Chu Yuening asked in curiosity.
"Nancy took a rare day off, so I thought I'd just stroll around," Nancy said, holding the bowl of dessert. She suddenly sighed. "I don't know what's going on, but lately, I've been feeling suffocated in the building where I live. I can't seem to stay there for long."
Chu Yuening was about to inquire further when she heard voices nearby. A few elders approached, and it turned out they were looking for Nancy.
"Nancy?"
Upon seeing the elders, Nancy greeted each of them warmly. She then noticed an elderly man holding his chest with a pained expression and went to him.
"Uncle Ping, why haven't we seen you lately?"
"Ai," Uncle Ping sighed deeply while clutching his chest. "Who can bear to live in that haunted place? Anyone who stays there must be asking for death."
"Then what about Uncle Cong?" Nancy looked at the other elders, noticing their sighs and silent head shakes. She covered her mouth in surprise.
"Have you all moved out?"
"We have," Uncle Cong sighed. "Half of the building is already empty."
"It's unclear what's happening, but living there has become more uncomfortable, and our health has weakened. At first, we just had trouble sleeping, but now, we're plagued by nightmares every night."
Uncle Ping grumbled, holding his chest even tighter. "Who among you has it worse than me? The pain in my chest is unbearable. My condition only slightly improved after I moved out."
"Nancy, my dear, I advise you to consider moving as well. Since there's a real estate company interested in purchasing our old building, it might be wise for you to sell your old residence and relocate."
