by 陈年奶泡He had done his research before arriving.
The reason Chen Siyu reported the poisoning in the dormitory was all because of this fortune-teller standing before him.
The more he thought about it, the more disdainful his gaze became.
"You mean to tell me that a police station would dare to accuse someone based on the mere words of a street-side fortune-teller? Isn't that laughable?"
The lawyers exchanged glances with one another.
Wang Xin straightened his suit and spoke, "A fortune-teller, Officer Zhou? Surely your esteemed police department wouldn't base a conviction on the word of a mere fraud, would they?"
The other lawyers chimed in.
"Fortune-telling? Something devoid of scientific basis, yet it can supposedly assist in determining guilt? Mr. Luo is right, it's truly ridiculous."
"Fortune-telling has always been a deceitful practice, I never imagined seeing it being taken seriously in the most credible Kowloon Police Station."
"Ridiculous, truly ridiculous."
Unable to contain herself, Chen Siyu rushed out and said, "None of you are allowed to mock the Master! Her predictions are truly accurate!"
"Accurate?" Luo Tong unbuttoned his suit jacket, pulled out a checkbook from his pocket, scribbled a series of numbers, tore it off, and placed it on the table. "A thousand dollars per reading, right?"
He then turned to Zhou Fengxu with a mocking tone. "Officer Zhou, if it turns out that this woman is full of lies, your police station will have to let Yuening go immediately."
Zhou Fengxu ignored him and instead looked worriedly at the side. "Ning Ning?"
"Relax," Chu Yuening stood up, calmly pulling her chair closer.
From the moment Luo Tong entered and saw her face, he was destined not to leave the Kowloon Bay Police Station.
Chu Yuening sat down and said, "Mr. Luo, some debts need to be collected slowly, don't you think?"
Luo Tong sneered.
He believed that fortune-tellers were skilled in reading people's expressions. The reason he could tell that Chen Siyu was poisoned was likely because Chen Siyu had shown signs of being poisoned, which Chu Yuening had conveniently guessed.
It was like one of those exposé shows he had seen before.
A fortune-teller predicted the rain outside while inside a room, leaving everyone amazed. The truth was merely that many who entered the room from outside had wet shoes.
"Mumbo-jumbo, let's see what trick you have up your sleeve. Trying to convince me with fortune-telling and even blaming Yuanyuan? You're truly daydreaming!"
The next sentence made his expression shift abruptly.
"Mr. Luo made his fortune in watches, wasn't it? When you were 16."
After a moment of silence,
Luo Tong looked at Zhou Fengxu meaningfully, "Officer Zhou, I didn't expect that you've been investigating me for quite some time."
Indeed, he was involved in the watch business, a fact well-known to many in Hong Kong. What wasn't known was at what age he started dealing in watches.
Unless someone had combed through records that detailed his history.
He openly acknowledged this fact with outstretched hands.
"Indeed, my first fortune, Luo Tong, was made from selling watches. Is there something wrong with that? Is it illegal? Forbidden?"
Chu Yuening remained unperturbed, continuing her analysis. "Your family circumstances weren't exactly ideal. Your father had two wives, and you're the eldest among them. You also have a younger half-brother from your stepmother."
"Despite being the elder son, your father didn't favor you at all. He criticized your character, saying you lacked potential. Moreover, your mother was too submissive to stand up for you, allowing the second wife to dominate you."
Luo Tong mocked her further. "What great master are you? Full of pretense. You've had people investigate me from the start. Not only do you know about my siblings and their mothers, but even the number of my mistresses."
He extended his hand, and a bodyguard approached, retrieving a cigar case from his suit pocket. He extracted one, placed it between Luo Tong's fingers, lit it, and then retreated.
Luo Tong took a puff of smoke.
His eyes held disdain. "Let's see what tricks you have up your sleeve!"
Chu Yuening continued her calculations. "Dissatisfied with your father's favoritism, you decided to make your own way in society. Instead of taking the honest path, you followed others into less reputable means. You started stealing wallets and were almost beaten to death at the pier after being caught once."
Luo Tong's eyes narrowed, and he clenched his jaw as he held the cigar tightly. This time, he refrained from further sarcastic remarks.
Only Chu Yuening's calm voice echoed in the office.
"You quickly accumulated your first fortune by stealing wallets. You were sharp-witted and noticed that people liked to wear watches, so you imported counterfeit timepieces from abroad to sell in Hong Kong."
"After making money, your father began to regard you with newfound respect and asked you to bring your brother along on the path to wealth."
"At first, you refused, but then changed your mind after two days. Nobody knew what was going through your head, not even your father, who believed that you valued your sibling's bond."
"With your brother's involvement, you had more room to maneuver. Since you dealt with branded watches, the profit from selling counterfeits was small. So, you decided to take a risky step and produce fake watches."
At this point, Chu Yuening paused for a moment.
"For any high-profile activities, you made your brother take the lead. Eventually, one day, the counterfeit business was exposed, and your half-brother was caught. You adamantly denied any knowledge of the truth, claiming ignorance about selling fake watches. The police, after investigating the leads, found that your brother was indeed the one dealing with the transactions. Due to the inadequacies of the law at that time, they had no choice but to release you without charge."
Upon hearing this, Luo Tong's hand holding the cigar trembled involuntarily. He retorted, "This never happened! Don't slander me!"
Agitated, he signaled his bodyguards with a glance, hoping they would intervene.
Zhou Fengxu, standing behind, casually rolled up his sleeve to reveal a handgun from his waist, pointing it at the head of the bodyguard while giving Mr. Luo a fleeting, indifferent glance.
"I advise you to be wise. This is a police station."
The moment a gunshot rings out, backup from the station will arrive promptly.
By then, Luo Tong would find it harder than ascending to heaven to leave this place.
Shi Boren closely followed behind, shielding Chu Yuening on her left side with both hands holding his gun steady.
Luo Tong was already breaking into a cold sweat, unfastening all the buttons of his coat as he gazed with a grim expression.
