by 陈年奶泡"Yes," Li Huiwen replied softly. "She was helping Chen Su with something. She went back to Shenzhen for a while due to some matters, but she flew to Hong Kong as soon as she had the chance."
"Sure. Take a seat first."
After Li Huiwen helped everyone settle down, Chu Yuening remembered something from a couple of days ago and asked, "A few days ago, there was a reporter staking out at Temple Street. Do you know who it was?"
"A reporter?" Li Huiwen found it odd. "From Daxi Magazine?"
"It should be. They seemed to have some connection with you."
Li Huiwen pondered over it, and the image of Zeng Fangxin eventually flashed across her mind. It dawned on her. "It must be her. No wonder she's been so malicious lately, always picking fights over everything. She must've failed in her attempts to sabotage."
Ever since Li Huiwen was promoted to associate editor, Zeng Fangxin hadn't stopped causing trouble for her.
Fortunately, Li Huiwen had endured it all.
Zeng Fangxin probably resented Li Huiwen for getting the position of associate editor.
"Fortunately, the editor-in-chief saw through Zeng Fangxin's true nature and fired her. Otherwise, I don't know how much longer we would've had to endure it."
"Right," Li Huiwen recalled her other reason for visiting and eagerly approached. "Master Chu, are you interested in the entertainment industry?"
"The entertainment industry?" Chu Yuening was puzzled. "Why do you ask?"
"Well, the television station is planning to launch a feng shui program and wants to invite some renowned feng shui masters to participate," Li Huiwen said with enthusiasm. "Would you consider it? TV has a wider reach than newspapers and can greatly enhance your reputation."
Li Huiwen could already envision the sensation Master Chu would create once she appeared on the show.
With her remarkable skills and stunning appearance, surpassing even Hong Kong's leading actresses, it would be a waste not to showcase her talents.
The more Li Huiwen thought about it, the more excited she became.
"Go for it! As soon as Master gives the green light, I can arrange everything immediately."
Chu Yuening wasn't particularly eager for fame, but she was certainly interested in money.
Moreover, she planned to sell more amulets for warding off evil spirits and attracting wealth in the future. The small stall was simply too cramped. Her next goal was to open a larger feng shui shop.
The establishment, decoration, and inventory acquisition all require funds.
"Sure, you can contact me later for the details on how to participate."
Upon hearing that Chu Yuening was willing to join, Li Huiwen was even more excited than she herself, "I'll arrange it as soon as I get back."
"Alright, thank you for your trouble." Chu Yuening smiled, then turned her gaze towards the silent woman who had yet to speak.
Chen Ruyun carried herself with great poise. The crease between her brows hinted at long-standing concerns, yet she waited patiently without agitation for the two to finish their conversation.
"Please provide your birth date and time."
Chen Ruyun nodded repeatedly and softly recited her birth information.
Being from the mainland, Chen Ruyun naturally spoke Mandarin. After finishing, she looked at Li Huiwen, worried that Chu Yuening might not understand, "Miss Li, would you mind helping with translation?"
Before Li Huiwen could respond,
Chu Yuening chuckled, "I'm from Hunan Province, and Mandarin is the national language. I can understand, no need for translation."
"Turns out we're both from the same hometown," Chen Ruyun smiled.
"Well, then I'll proceed with your reading," Chu Yuening said, before closely examining Chen Ruyun's face and gently tapping her fingers on the bridge of Chen Ruyun's nose.
"You have a horizontal line at the root of your mountain, and your eyebrows scatter at the ends. This indicates an unhappy love life. I suppose you've already divorced."
"Yes," Chen Ruyun replied with a bitter smile as the topic turned to marriage. "It's been over twenty years since my divorce."
Chu Yuening continued, "After the divorce, you dedicated yourself to your career and never had another boyfriend. You did encounter potential matches during that time, but you chose not to pursue any further relationships."
"Indeed, I've already experienced one marriage, and I truly lack the confidence to enter another. Besides, love holds no significance for me now," Chen Ruyun admitted.
Over the past two decades, Chen Ruyun had encountered numerous suitors, but after that incident, she had lost all hope in love.
Chu Yuening remarked, "Your business has flourished, yet your facial features suggest that you remain trapped by lingering attachments."
"Master, your insights are truly remarkable," Chen Ruyun nodded in admiration.
"A matter has indeed been weighing on my heart for over two decades."
At the egg tart stall, Lin Jiahua had just finished his work. Seeing that Chu Yuening still had customers, he promptly opened the thermos and poured two cups of water into porcelain cups.
He brought them over, placing one in front of Chen Ruyun.
Chen Ruyun picked up her cup and smiled gently at Lin Jiahua. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Lin Jiahua replied, feeling a strange mixture of emotions as he gazed at the gentle Chen Ruyun, as if she were someone he knew intimately, calming his restless heart.
After finishing her tea, Chen Ruyun continued, "Twenty years ago, I gave birth to a boy. Unknowingly, I slept too soundly, and the blanket covered his face without my realization."
"And just like that, he was gone."
"That incident was the catalyst for my divorce from my ex-husband, and it remains a lifelong burden on my conscience."
"I can never forgive myself." Even now, Chen Ruyun still bitterly reproached herself. In the stillness of midnight, it seemed as if she could hear her child's cries.
"Why did I, as a mother, allow myself to sleep so deeply? If only I had woken up in time, my precious child would have been safe."
Chen Ruyun had been tormented by this guilt for two long decades.
She had shouldered all the blame upon herself.
Li Huiwen was surprised. "You must have been exhausted after giving birth. Weren't there any nurses on duty? And what about your ex-husband and his parents?"
"It was late at night; the nurses had already made their rounds. I don't blame her." Chen Ruyun smiled bitterly when she mentioned her ex-husband. "My ex was sleeping on the bedside couch, and his parents had already gone home."
"The child wasn't yours alone," Li Huiwen sighed. "The responsibility for what happened doesn't rest solely on you. Why carry such a heavy burden?"
