by 陈年奶泡Wei Zhenjing's fate had unexpectedly gained a new lease on life.
She smiled and put down her divination tools. "Miss Wei has made a new choice, and her destiny has shifted. Everyone can rest assured now."
Only then did everyone truly relax.
Chu Yuening called out again, "Wei Yanlin."
In no time,
Wei Yanlin emerged from the partition with a red plastic bag on his head, holding a large soup spoon in one hand. He adjusted the sliding plastic bag with the other. "What's up?"
"I need to go to Qi Tianrui's place," Chu Yuening said, standing up with her peachwood sword in hand. Her fair face was serious. "I'm leaving the shop in your care."
Upon hearing the name of the young superstar, Wei Yanlin jumped in surprise. "His father is a murderer. Are you sure it's okay for you to go alone? Should I accompany you?"
Chu Yuening shook her head.
"Alright then." Wei Yanlin hesitated for a moment before pounding his chest. "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on the shop for you."
"Thank you." Chu Yuening expressed her gratitude and, taking two servings of sweet soup, exited the feng shui shop. She flagged down a taxi and gave the address of a location in Repulse Bay.
A few minutes later, the feng shui shop was visited by a police car.
Several officers emerged from the vehicle, along with Superintendent Leung, who had come to apologize but found no one there.
Repulse Bay, located on the southern slope of Victoria Peak in Hong Kong, was a scenic spot by the water's edge. The Qi family's mansion resided there, an elegant English-style residence with three villas enclosed within an iron gate, covering over a thousand square meters.
Upon alighting, Chu Yuening located the Qi family's mansion and directed her gaze at a villa situated beside the entrance.
A towering column of black aura rose from the villa, transforming into a golden-hued fortune that continuously flowed towards the central villa.
She frowned, finally comprehending the source of Qi Tianrui's immense fortune.
Two bodyguards stood guard at the entrance, and upon seeing Chu Yuening's peach wood sword, they intercepted her with stern expressions.
"I'm sorry, feng shui masters aren't welcome here."
Not welcome feng shui masters, huh?
A gentle mountain breeze swept through, playfully lifting a few strands of hair from the girl's forehead.
She flipped the peach wood sword over, revealing the words "Chu Ji's Desserts" in bold letters. Then, she opened the bag to expose the dessert bowls inside.
A faint smile graced her fair face.
"Your family's little king ordered two servings of desserts. What feng shui master? I have no idea what you're talking about."
She was clearly a dessert maker.
Chapter 138
In the villa.
The basement was dimly lit, filled with small jars of wine stacked everywhere.
In the southwestern corner, there was a large pit where clumps of soil were periodically thrown up.
"Master, please stop for now. Father will be home soon," the butler said, squatting anxiously beside him, flashlight in hand. "How could Madam's body possibly be in the cellar? Which murderer would dare to do such a thing in the Qi family's residence? In my opinion, Madam must have gone abroad for a vacation; she might return any day."
"No way," Qi Tianrui replied, changing into a gray hoodie before resuming his excavation with a shovel. Beads of sweat rolled down his face, which he wiped off casually. His gaze was unwavering as he said, "The master specified the southwest corner, so it has to be there. I must bring Mom and Sister out."
"Aiyo." The butler slapped his thigh in distress. He had taken care of Master since he was a baby, besides the time he spent breastfeeding. Of course, he understood the young master's anxiety over the disappearance of the lady and the missy a year ago.
Heaven only knew how anxious he was when the young master had claimed that the matriarch's disappearance was somehow connected to Father. Now, someone from outside had apparently taken advantage of the situation.
"Master, which fraudster did you fall for? Tomorrow, I'll get people to dismantle their stall! This is utterly outrageous!"
"Obey promptly, cease your efforts. The wines in the cellar are all cherished possessions of Master. If he were to witness this commotion later, his anger would be uncontrollable."
With a clank, Qi Tianrui tossed the spade upwards. The butler hastily set down the flashlight and assisted.
Upon Qi Tianrui's emergence, there was no trace of the charming and dashing young superstar depicted in the newspapers. Mud clung to his hair, while smudges of dirt adorned his face in irregular patches.
The butler's eyes brimmed with concern. He quickly picked up the flashlight, saying, "Young Master, please rest first. I'll call for help to refill the hole. When Master returns and sees the state of the wine cellar, he will undoubtedly be furious."
Qi Tianrui sat down heavily on the ground.
Upon returning from Temple Street, he promptly summoned the steward and set about digging with fervor. This time, upon seeing the steward's intent to call for assistance, he waved him off, gasping for breath, "No need to call for more hands; too many people lead to too many tongues wagging. Mother and sister haven't been found yet. If Father hears about this prematurely, it might weigh heavily on his mind."
Master Chu had identified the perpetrator as none other than Father.
Until he finds his mother, Qi Tianrui doesn't wish for any unnecessary complications.
With this in mind, he turned his attention to the southwestern corner. The wine jars that had once been stacked there were now removed, revealing a large pit in the ground. After all that digging, however, he found nothing.
Even Qi Tianrui couldn't help but sigh. "Where is it, then?"
Just at that moment, a slightly perplexed voice echoed from behind them.
"When did I say the corpse was buried in the ground?"
Surprised, Qi Tianrui turned around to see a figure descending the basement stairs against the light. He quickly stood up. "M-Master Chu?"
"Uh-huh," Chu Yuening acknowledged.
"I'll treat you to some sugar water."
As she spoke, she pointed her peach wood sword horizontally downward, causing the plastic bag hanging on her wrist to slide off and land in Qi Tianrui's arms.
Chu Yuening glanced around and noticed numerous wine jars piled up on both sides of the basement. A wine rack on the wall was filled with imported spirits.
However, in the southwestern corner, the wine jars had been moved aside, leaving a large hole behind.
She didn't proceed further. Counting on her fingers, her gaze gradually shifted away from the southwest, casting aside to the side.
