Lin Gu nodded repeatedly with a smile. "Master Chu, you're incredibly accurate. My parents often say I had a fortunate childhood too."
Someone from the neighborhood grew curious.
"Ning Ning, what does it mean to have good fortune in childhood?"
"Right, does it mean she had a knack for business even back then?"
Chu Yuening smiled and shook her head. "Having wealth in childhood means being very close to it. But having wealth alone isn't enough; it's about whether one can seize the opportunity. For example, Miss Lin, when she was eight, she still lived in the countryside and once brought a stone home from the river. Ordinarily, when someone brings a stone home, their family would scold them for bringing trash back, right?"
"But Miss Lin's parents didn't react that way. Her mother believed that anything her daughter picked up must be something she liked, so she helped her keep it safely. One day, her father discovered that the stone wasn't ordinary but a high-quality jadeite."
"In the end, her father raised money to buy that river, and later they started a jewelry company. Their family seized the opportunity, and naturally, they've accumulated considerable wealth since then."
Lin Gu was dumbfounded, deeply impressed by Chu Yuening.
Only her, her parents, and three people knew this story of their family's prosperity. Yet, Master Chu could still divine such intricate details.
"Not surprising for a master. You can even calculate such minute details. I've had great luck with finances since I was young. Whenever I participate in lucky draws, I always win something valuable."
"Later on, my parents started investing in ventures under my guidance. Whatever I picked turned profitable, and our family business flourished."
"Luckily, your parents remained level-headed." Chu Yuening chuckled. "There's only one of you."
"How so?" Lin Gu blinked, intrigued.
"As the only daughter in the family, your destiny complements your birth chart perfectly. If there were a second child, regardless of gender, one of them wouldn't survive," Chu Yuening explained before resuming her calculations. "Your career prospects are quite favorable."
"What about your love life?" Chu Yuening shook her head and smiled as she read on. "It seems you don't have much luck in long-term relationships."
The neighbors, curious at this point, chimed in.
"Master, if Miss Lin doesn't have a lasting love life, then who is the father of the baby she's carrying?"
"Yes, poor Miss Lin, married without love."
"Oh wow, what are you talking about? Many people get married without love too."
"You speak rather abruptly. Apologize to Miss Lin."
Lin Gu, however, was not bothered. She gently stroked her belly and said, "The master was right. My baby doesn't have a father."
If this situation were to happen to someone else, an unplanned pregnancy before marriage would be shameful. But Lin Gu didn't see it that way; instead, she shared her happiness with the neighbors.
"I'm 28 years old this year. Since I was young, I've never been overly persistent in relationships. If there's freshness, we date; if not, we part ways. Many of my friends, after just two months of dating, go from their honeymoon phase straight into constant arguments."
"After seeing so much, I really don't understand why people continue a relationship when it's already at the point of constant fighting and damaged harmony?"
"When you witness it often, when it's your turn to constantly argue and receive mistreatment, you choose to part ways amicably." Lin Gu smiled as she continued caressing her belly. "Then, you move on to the next relationship, gaining new emotional support, maximizing emotional satisfaction. Why not?"
"After all, I'm not married yet."
Her words served as a wake-up call for many.
Among the neighbors, quite a few young girls exclaimed in agreement. "Sister, you're so sensible! Yes, if a relationship isn't bringing joy, it's best to split up. There will always be someone even more handsome and obedient next time."
"I'm somewhat tempted, I really want to give it a try."
"I can't do that. Even if my boyfriend makes me angry and we argue often, the thought of breaking up makes me reluctant."
"Reluctance is just a result of you being used to the situation. If you were like Miss Lin and split when you're unhappy, then reunite with someone you truly like, you wouldn't feel this way."
"Miss Lin, then whose child is the one in your belly?"
"Oh right, could it be from your ex-boyfriend?"
Lin Gu took a moment to compose herself, shaking her head. "No, the baby is from a very handsome guy I met at a company party. My family is pressuring me to get married urgently, but my ex had a bad temper. If I were carrying his child, I'd feel uncomfortable even if I chose to keep the baby without him."
"After the breakup, I took some time to heal. Then, after meeting this guy, I became pregnant after one night. He has good genes, and I don't wish to get married either. My parents are eagerly waiting for a grandchild, so I decided to go ahead with the pregnancy."
Speaking thus, Lin Gu seemed to have let go of her worries. "I still don't insist on having deep feelings. Marriage is something that either happens or doesn't. Anyway, I have my parents as a safety net, along with wealth and a career. Unless it's a truly great match, I really don't need another person to affect my emotions."
Many girls in the audience nodded in agreement with Lin Gu's reasoning.
Chu Yuening, however, said, "Your relationship may not have lasted long, but it doesn't mean you can't get married."
Upon hearing this, Lin Gu's face expressed sheer astonishment, her mouth slightly agape. "I can actually get married?"
Really?
She had thought she would never step into the grave of marriage in her lifetime.
"Master, what kind of man would I marry?" Although Lin Gu didn't yearn for it, curiosity still stirred within her.
Chu Yuening didn't rush to answer but instead countered with a question of her own. "Are you still in touch with the man you had a one-night stand with?"
Recalling that night's encounter, Lin Gu's cheeks flushed, and she shook her head. "I left the hotel early the next morning and haven't seen him since."
"Although the guy gave me an incredibly unique and wonderful feeling, I don't hold too much hope for a fleeting romance like that."
