The dorm mates soon found out that Tang Xiuxiu wasn’t just a Beijing local—she had family connections too.

She got her brother to check out that little workshop, and it turned out they were cutting corners big time.

If the Commerce Bureau were to investigate, this small workshop with only seven or eight people would definitely be shut down.

With the workshop shut down, the contract Li Meiru had signed earlier was null and void.

Tang Xiuxiu was the brains behind the plan, but she left the decision up to Li Meiru. She asked in the dormitory, "Do you want to take down that workshop? I can help you gather the evidence."

If it was a case of live and let live, there’d be no reason to ruin someone’s business.

But since Li Meiru had been threatened, she decided to fight back.

After two days of thinking it over, Li Meiru decided she wasn’t going to let anyone mess up her life.

"Thank you, Xiuxiu. Please give me the reporting materials. I want to fight for myself."

Tang Xiuxiu was relieved; Li Meiru wasn’t a lost cause.

If Li Meiru couldn’t stand her ground, no amount of help from Tang Xiuxiu would’ve made a difference.

"Next time, pick a legit place for part-time work," Wang Jiao chimed in.

But you can’t always avoid trouble just by being careful. Li Meiru already knew who had plotted against her.

Li Meiru didn’t waste any time. Armed with Tang Xiuxiu’s evidence, she went straight to the Commerce Bureau.

The shady little workshop was shut down in no time.

That was the end of it. Even though most of the roommates hadn’t done much, the tension in the dorm eased, and Li Meiru started opening up more.

One day, as Ye Xiaoxiao was walking into the dorm, she saw chaos at the door.

Someone was literally throwing their stuff out of the dorm.

"What are you doing?"

Ye Xiaoxiao marched over and grabbed Jia Shengnan, the guy causing the trouble.

There were people in the dorm, but Li Meiru had them pinned down.

Jia Shengnan shook off Ye Xiaoxiao’s hand and said rudely, "You’re all terrible people in this dorm. You’re the ones who helped Li Meiru report my mom’s factory."

Ye Xiaoxiao knew why he was so angry.

She smirked, "A factory with just seven or eight women and no license?"

Jia Shengnan, red with anger, swung at Ye Xiaoxiao, but before he could land a hit, the rest of Room 206 showed up.

"Ah! My dress!"

Wang Jiao spotted her clothes tossed in the hallway, including her brand-new dress, getting trampled.

"Who did this? They’re paying for this!"

Wang Jiao, overwhelmed with anger, immediately started a physical altercation with Jia Shengnan, "Jia Shengnan, I think you're looking for trouble. You're not leaving until you clean up our dorm today."

The girl who came with Jia Shengnan, seeing the rest of the 206 dorm members returning, immediately let go of Li Meiru and tried to leave.

Ye Xiaoxiao stopped her, "What you did is pretty much breaking and entering. You're not leaving that easily."

The girl retorted, "We don't care about the stuff in your dorm."

Ye Xiaoxiao: "Regardless of whether you care, you've damaged our personal belongings, and who can guarantee that nothing is missing from our dorm?"

Ye Xiaoxiao walked to her messy desk and picked up a watch, "This watch costs about 150 yuan at the mall, and now it's broken."

Ye Xiaoxiao deliberately dropped the watch, and it fell to the ground.

"You... you did that on purpose!" the girl paled and argued, looking at Jia Shengnan, "Shengnan, this was your idea, think of something."

Tang Xiuxiu blocked the door, "Enough talking, get ready to pay."

He Jing called the counselor.

The counselor, seeing the 206 dorm and the people blocked inside, immediately knew what had happened.

"All of you come here. Your families sent you here to get an education. This is Jinghua University, a top-tier institution in the country. If you don't appreciate it, that's bad enough, but causing trouble all day? You might as well just drop out."

The counselor spoke sternly, calling everyone into his office.

After understanding the situation, the counselor had the neighboring 208 dorm compensate the 206 dorm for economic losses, and all members were given serious disciplinary marks, with a public criticism across the school.

The counselor's decision was meant to set an example. If they don't enforce strict rules now, who will take the school regulations seriously later?

Jia Shengnan looked at the counselor defiantly, "Counselor, doesn't our school have any standards for student behavior? Shouldn't people like them, who scheme behind the scenes, be expelled?"

The counselor frowned, "If your family's factory was really compliant, I believe the government wouldn't have shut it down. Instead, resorting to violence when faced with problems is completely unacceptable."

Jia Shengnan: "..."

The girls from Jia Shengnan's dorm were really out of luck, as no amount of apologizing could make the counselor retract the punishment.

On top of that, they faced significant financial losses.

"Shengnan, you were the one who called us to cause trouble in the 206 dorm. Shouldn't you be the one to cover the costs?"

One of the girls looked at Jia Shengnan resentfully, "Do you know what it means to receive a serious disciplinary mark from the school? We won't be eligible for any awards or honors going forward."

Jia Shengnan didn't notice his roommate's gaze, just saying, "It was never your concern to begin with, and when I suggested going to the 206 dorm to settle the score, you were all quite enthusiastic. Now you're putting all the blame on me."

Jia Shengnan's indifferent attitude only made his roommates more upset, and it seemed like internal strife was about to break out.

Ye Xiaoxiao and her group passed by from behind.

Tang Xiuxiu: "Once we tally up the damages, we'll send you the bill. Remember to prepare the compensation. If you don't pay within a week, we'll have to call the police. You know the consequences if it goes on your record."

Jia Shengnan: "..."

Ye Xiaoxiao and her group then ignored them and went back to the dorm to clean up.

It was clear how deep Jia Shengnan's resentment was at the time. Except for the locked cabinets, everything left out in the dorm was turned upside down.

Wang Jiao's bed and desk by the door were particularly hard hit. While cleaning up, she muttered curses at Jia Shengnan.

Though Ye Xiaoxiao's desk was a mess, the stuff on it was fine, just a few books fell and got dirty.

As for the watch she had thrown on the ground, it wasn’t damaged; she had only done it to scare them.

Li Meiru said guiltily, "I'm sorry, it's all because of me that you got dragged into this."

Everyone stopped for a second while cleaning up.

Wang Jiao said, "Forget it, it's not entirely your fault. They’re the ones with issues."
