Chapter 344: Han Xing’s Girlfriend

Qu Miao's expression didn't change, and if anything, she seemed puzzled.
"Medicine could cure her. It was just that you hadn’t found the right doctor before."
Hu Yaowen: "Yes, yes, my mistake."
Qu Miao revised the prescription and handed it back to Hu Yaowen. "Take this medicine for a month, then come back for a follow-up. By then, your mother should be well enough to visit Rende Pharmacy on her own."
Hu Yaowen: "That would be wonderful. I’ll definitely send you a commemorative plaque then."
Qu Miao: "...No need."
He preferred to keep a low profile.
Hu Yaowen: "Nonsense! I’ll make sure to arrange it. Also, regarding the investment I made in Wang Lei earlier—I’ve already pulled out. I won’t give him another penny."
Hu Yaowen now clearly saw who was really skilled. Even Song Guangjing’s apprentice was so capable—this young doctor from Rende Pharmacy had cured his mother.
This meant Wang Lei and Zhang Wanqiu were probably frauds.
And precisely because Rende Pharmacy had superior medical skills, he had to firmly stand by them. That way, seeking treatment next time would be easier.
Ye Xiaoxiao said with a faint smile, "Mr. Hu is a wise man."
...
Without funding or other connections in the capital, Wang Lei had no choice but to slink back to Shanghai with Zhang Wanqiu with their tails between their legs. Who knew when they’d show their faces in the capital again?
This time around, aside from getting his hand broken, Wang Lei walked away with nothing.
As for Ye Xiaoxiao, besides her daily work and occasionally returning to the family compound to spend time with her grandparents, she continued studying and researching new products.
While Lu Hanchuan was stationed in the military nearby, he wasn’t far from home. Excluding duty shifts and missions, he got to come home weekly.
Ye Xiaoxiao also tried to sync her days off with his.
Between work and research projects, Ye Xiaoxiao was always busy.
When Lu Hanchuan came home this week, he said he’d take Ye Xiaoxiao out for dinner the next day.
"With Han Xing. He might bring his girlfriend."
Her curiosity piqued, Ye Xiaoxiao blinked. "Is it the girl he mentioned last time? The one he’s been chasing?"
"He mentioned her to you? Probably, yeah."
Lu Hanchuan didn’t know for sure.
"You’re pretty indifferent about your friend’s dating life."
"Why would I care about my friend’s dating life?"
Silence.
Ye Xiaoxiao thought for a moment—it did seem a bit odd to ask about others’ love lives.
“But if it were my close friends, I’d definitely care about their relationships. Like… Little Bai is getting married.”
She held up the red wedding invitation in her hand.
Lu Hanchuan took it—the date was October 3rd. October was shaping up to be busy, so he definitely couldn’t attend.
“Can’t take time off in October,” he said apologetically.
Ye Xiaoxiao didn’t mind. “I’ll be fine going alone. Maybe I’ll even help Xiao Bai with preparations and stay at her place the night before.”
Lu Hanchuan nodded. “Since it’s all in the same neighborhood, you could just stay at home.”
“I’m afraid we might stay out late and disturb Grandpa and Grandma’s rest.”
Besides, every time she went back, her grandparents would prepare delicious meals for her. Even if they didn’t cook themselves, it still meant effort for them.
He pulled Ye Xiaoxiao closer. “They love having you home. They wouldn’t feel disturbed.”
“Then if possible, I’ll stay at home.”
Lu Hanchuan kissed her forehead. “Good girl.”
---
Han Xing had reserved a table at an upscale courtyard restaurant.
The setting featured decorative rock gardens, and the private room had a folding screen inside.
He said it was a newly opened spot and that this was his first time here too.
It was late September, and Ye Xiaoxiao wore a black long-sleeved shirt with jeans.
She brought a jacket—she didn’t need it during the day, but it got chilly after sunset.
Her outfit was simple but showed off her figure nicely.
Lu Hanchuan went for a casual, comfy look that day, though his good looks still shone through.
When the two entered the private room, Han Xing and his mystery girlfriend were already seated inside.
She was stunning—polished and poised.
That made sense. If she weren’t beautiful, she wouldn’t have been able to snag Han Xing.
Han Xing waved them over and introduced, “This is my girlfriend—Fang Mei.”
“And this is Bro Lu, and sis-in-law.”
Ye Xiaoxiao smiled. “Hello, just call me Xiaoxiao.”
Fang Mei stood up and shook Xiaoxiao’s hand. “Nice to meet you.”
She couldn’t help staring at Ye Xiaoxiao—admiringly.
Even as a woman, she found the other girl gorgeous—the kind you couldn’t ignore.
Only when ordering did Ye Xiaoxiao realize—this place served hotpot.
Hot pot works for this weather, and Ye Xiaoxiao was game.
They could pick different broths, and Ye Xiaoxiao pointed at the menu.
"I'll go with the mushroom broth."
Lu Hanchuan nodded. "Sure. Anything else?"
They had ordered a divided pot, which allowed four flavors. Lu Hanchuan was hinting for her to choose another.
"Then let's also get a spicy one."
Lu Hanchuan said, "Sounds good."
While the two were talking, the other pair was also discussing.
"Mei Mei, what flavor do you like?"
Fang Mei replied gently, "I'm easy."
Han Xing was new here too. They had tons of broths—aside from clear and spicy, there were sauerkraut, seafood, tomato...
Half of which Han Xing had never even heard of.
Hearing that Ye Xiaoxiao had already ordered the spicy one, Han Xing picked sauerkraut and tomato.
Ye Xiaoxiao hadn’t tried sauerkraut broth, but she’d had tomato before.
Back in her day, if you could imagine a broth, it existed.
Fang Mei asked, "You sure these won’t be weird? Maybe we should get a clear one."
Han Xing wavered—he’d just settled on these.
Ye Xiaoxiao looked up. "Actually, mushroom and clear are pretty much the same. Both are foolproof."
Fang Mei: "That’s fine. I was worried someone might not like those unusual ones."
Ye Xiaoxiao: "If it’s gross, we’ll just swap it out."
Han Xing relaxed. "Alright then. Let’s get the rest."
Ye Xiaoxiao continued ordering. It wasn’t hard—she’d basically checked off the whole menu, not that she’d finish it all.
Lu Hanchuan didn’t object—between the four of them, they’d manage.
As they waited, the conversation flowed.
Ye Xiaoxiao learned that Fang Mei taught at a university.
She’d joined the faculty right after school, so she was only a few years older—but definitely three or four years her senior.
She taught history.
No wonder she speaks so gently. Students must love having such a teacher—they’re probably very happy.
Fang Mei was also quite curious about Ye Xiaoxiao’s profession.
“I’m a doctor, fresh out of medical school.”
Han Xing immediately added, “Don’t let that fool you. Xiao Xiao’s medical skills are amazing. Just a few days ago, I heard my mom saying she helped cure someone’s illness.”
Ye Xiaoxiao sees many patients every day, so even if the name was mentioned, she probably wouldn’t remember.
Fang Mei’s eyes lit up. “That’s impressive!”
Ye Xiaoxiao replied, “Not really, I'm still learning,” she said modestly.
As they spoke, the food started coming out.
The four soup bases were all delicious—even the sauerkraut hot pot didn’t disappoint.
