    Chapter 211: Switching Places

Fang Kaixuan and a few friends were approaching from over there, with one girl standing particularly close to him, chatting and laughing happily.

Wang Jiao instantly flew into a rage and charged forward.

He Jing tried to hold her back but couldn’t, murmuring to herself in place.

    "Weren’t they already broken up?"

Wang Jiao’s sudden appearance startled Fang Kaixuan's group of friends.

"Fang Kaixuan! How dare you flirt with another girl behind my back!"

Fang Kaixuan’s expression darkened. "Wang Jiao, we’ve already broken up."

Wang Jiao hadn’t expected him to bring that up.

Her voice shot up, louder than before. "You broke up with me because of her, didn’t you? I’ve got you figured out!"

Fang Kaixuan was just as shocked that she would spread such rumors after their breakup.

"Wang Jiao, are you insulting me with those words? Do you honestly believe I’d cheat on you?"

His gaze was filled with disappointment, as if he was seeing Wang Jiao for the first time.

Even though Wang Jiao knew she was wrong, she dug in her heels. "Isn’t that the case? You moved on to someone else right after breaking up with me. If you claim you weren’t seeing her before, I’ll never believe you, no matter what!"

The girl next to Fang Kaixuan had been nervous at first, but as Wang Jiao’s accusations grew more outrageous, she stepped forward.

"I’d only heard about your bad temper before, but I didn’t expect your character to be just as poor. Fang Kaixuan and I just met today. But there’s one thing you guessed right—I like him and I’m going after him."

Outspoken girls were uncommon, but not unheard of.

    Her boldness was impressive.

But to Wang Jiao, it was a challenge.

"Who said we broke up? Fang Kaixuan, I want to get back together with you right now. Who’s it gonna be—me or her?"

Fang Kaixuan replied bluntly, "I’m not choosing either of you."

His friends stood awkwardly to the side. They’d brought him out to distract him after the breakup, never expecting to run into Wang Jiao.

"Wang Jiao, you’ve really misunderstood. Kaixuan just met her today."

"Yeah, and you’ve already broken up. There’s no point fighting over this now."

Wang Jiao’s tears fell freely. "Fang Kaixuan, you’re really not choosing me?"

Fang Kaixuan steeled himself and turned away. "Just go back to school. We’re done."

    "Waaah…"

Wang Jiao crouched on the ground, sobbing.

Fang Kaixuan quickened his pace and walked away.

He Jing and the others hurried over. "Jiaojiao, don’t cry."

Fang Kaixuan's friends saw someone coming to handle Wang Jiao's situation and took off too.

Wang Jiao was bawling her eyes out, and He Jing squatted beside her, trying to comfort her forever but it didn’t help.

"You guys... wanna come back with me?"

    Ye Xiaoxiao asked.

Wang Jiao sobbed, "Hell no, I don’t want to see Fang Kaixuan again."

She was crying so hard she was hiccuping, unsure whether it was because of the relationship or because she had lost face.

He Jing: "Then let’s go back to school."

Tang Xiuxiu helped Wang Jiao up, letting Ye Xiaoxiao go home first while they returned to the dorm.

Ye Xiaoxiao watched their backs as they walked away, feeling helpless.

She had thought the matter between Wang Jiao and Fang Kaixuan was over, but the next day during class, Wang Jiao suddenly said,

"Fang Kaixuan is giving me the push-pull routine. He definitely wants me to coax him. Fine, he wins this round. I’ll swallow my pride this once."

Tang Xiuxiu was shocked. "Are you seriously still not getting the problem between you two? Fang Kaixuan clearly doesn’t love you anymore. I advise you to snap out of it."

Wang Jiao: "I don’t believe it. He must still love me."

    Tang Xiuxiu: "..."

He Jing: "Whatever, let her learn the hard way. She won’t get burned until she hits a wall."

After crying, Wang Jiao realized she still liked Fang Kaixuan and started chasing after him all over again.

It’s said that couples often have a brief reconciliation before breaking up for good.

But Wang Jiao didn’t get that chance.

After chasing him for a week, she still couldn’t get Fang Kaixuan back.

Finally, He Jing had enough. "Hounding him 24/7 like this isn’t working. Why not set up a time to sit down and talk properly?"

Wang Jiao: "He won’t even see me. How can I talk to him?"

Wang Jiao was running out of patience. Though she said she wanted to make up, she didn’t even know what Fang Kaixuan liked or where he usually went. Apart from school, she only knew about the rented place they used to live in, so she was basically shooting in the dark.

He Jing: "Our faculty has a field trip this month—a visit to the museum. It’s voluntary. Check whether Fang Kaixuan is going. If he is, this could be a good opportunity."

Wang Jiao hugged He Jing. "Thank you. I’ll go find out ASAP."

Ye Xiaoxiao also signed up for the field trip, mainly to see what museums were like in the 1980s.

The rest of the Traditional Chinese Medicine class, except for Qu Miao, couldn’t care less.

Ye Xiaoxiao: "Then Qu Miao and I will go. I’ll borrow a camera and snap some pics to show you guys later."

Chu Yunxiao: "I have a camera you can borrow."

Ye Xiaoxiao: "Thank you, Class Monitor."

Qu Miao sat there with her arms crossed. "Seriously, none of you are going?"

Zhang Kaining: "Nope, nope. With a crowd yapping nonstop, we won’t see anything properly. If you were dating, taking your girlfriend along would be a different story."

    Qu Miao hmphed: "So shallow."

Zhang Kaining: "Why’re you coming at me?"

    Qu Miao ignored him.

On the day of the trip, Ye Xiaoxiao brought Qu Miao along with her dorm group, and he blended right in.

Qu Miao was pale and clear-skinned—even more so than the girls.

"Is it because he’s from the south?" Xia Li was green with envy.

Ye Xiaoxiao: "Good skin’s mostly genetics."

Xia Li: "Then I must’ve inherited my dad’s—no matter what I try, I stay this dark."

Ye Xiaoxiao glanced around. "Wang Jiao went after Fang Kaixuan again?"

Xia Li nodded. "Yeah, yeah. She’s not giving up this time, but Fang Kaixuan is just as firm—he’s not backing down."

He Jing: "If they still can’t make up this time, I think Wang Jiao will probably give up."

Xia Li: "Definitely. I just hope she doesn’t go off the deep end."

Forty or fifty of us went to the museum this time.

The school bus took them there, and they only dispersed once inside the museum.

Qu Miao took photos with the camera, staying icy the entire time.

Xia Li was initially very interested in this fair-skinned, handsome guy, but after sensing his disinterest, she took the hint and shut up.

After the study trip, they were due back on the school bus.

But during the headcount, Wang Jiao was missing.

He Jing: "Where’d Wang Jiao go? She didn’t even tell the chaperone."

The chaperone was freaking out—a missing student, even if they were a college student, was against the rules to just vanish.
