Chapter 420 Drunk at Home
by 一盞紅爐Chapter 420: Drunken Night at Home
The two sisters enjoyed steak and wine at home, indulging in a cozy, classy vibe.
When Lu Hanchuan returned from the cocktail party, he was greeted by two tipsy girls.
Though Lu Hanchuan had attended the gathering, he hadn’t drunk much. The chauffeur drove him home, and he was still sober.
But the two at home—Bai Mengan seemed relatively fine, while Xiaoxiao was about to faceplant under the coffee table.
"Ah! Lu is back. I... I should go now."
Bai Mengan was a bit dizzy but could still speak coherently, though her steps were unsteady.
Lu Hanchuan gestured toward the guest room. "If you don’t mind, rest in the guest room first."
If she wasn’t too far gone, she’d probably sober up by evening.
Bai Mengan: "Oh, okay."
Only after watching Bai Mengan enter the guest room did Lu Hanchuan go to fish out Ye Xiaoxiao.
"Mmm... you’re back..."
Xiaoxiao’s eyes were half-lidded, could only barely see the figure swaying before her.
Her fair skin and rosy lips were tinged with a faint blush, her dark hair spilling loosely over her shoulders. Her slender fingers dug into Lu Hanchuan’s shoulders like a seductive temptress.
Lu Hanchuan leaned in closer. "Xiaoxiao really knows how to enjoy herself at home."
Ye Xiaoxiao scrunched up her nose at the smell of alcohol on him. "Ew, you reek!"
"Quite the double standard."
Lu Hanchuan swept her up in his arms. "Perfect—we’ll shower together."
Unfortunately, though drunk Xiaoxiao looked compliant, she was anything but cooperative.
Lu Hanchuan couldn’t get her undressed, and she could barely stand to wash herself.
"Behave, or I’ll tie you up."
Lu Hanchuan cupped Xiaoxiao’s face and threatened.
Xiaoxiao blinked innocently, tilting her head up with a suddenly serious tone. "Who are you?"
"Your captor," Lu Hanchuan replied before lowering his head for a kiss.
"Mmmph..."
After wrestling with her, Lu Hanchuan finally dried Xiaoxiao’s hair, got her into pajamas, and tucked her into bed.
Drunk and drowsy, Xiaoxiao passed right out.
Meanwhile, Lu Hanchuan set about tidying up her drunken mess in the room.
The clothes Xiaoxiao had strewn everywhere were all neatly folded and set aside for her to deal with later.
Ye Xiaoxiao came to around eight in the evening, by which time it was already dark out.
When she came downstairs, she saw Bai Mengan on the phone with her family.
"I'm at Xiao Xiao's place. I might stay the night and go back tomorrow morning. I'm fine..."
Bai Mengan's tone was cloyingly sweet—never had anyone seen the usually hot-tempered young woman speak like this.
"So this is how you act in front of Chu Yunxiao."
Xiao Xiao suddenly spoke up after Bai Mengan hung up.
Bai Mengan was startled but then retorted confidently, "Can't I change a little? Maybe marriage brought out my gentle side."
Ye Xiaoxiao nodded teasingly, drawing out her words, "Ohhh~"
After teasing her best friend, Xiao Xiao finally remembered, "Is Lu Hanchuan back?"
Bai Mengan nodded, "Yeah. No offense, Xiao Xiao, but you can't hold your liquor. Good thing we were drinking at your place—imagine the embarrassment if we were outside."
Xiao Xiao didn’t want to recall her embarrassing state. "Where'd he go?"
Bai Mengan pointed, "In the kitchen. Making food."
At least her friend married well—Lu Hanchuan was indeed reliable.
They didn't eat until after eight. Lu Hanchuan just whipped up two dishes and steamed some rice.
If they skipped dinner now, they’d definitely be hungry later.
The opened bottle of alcohol was nearly finished.
Lu Hanchuan considerately asked, "Should we open another bottle?"
Bai Mengan: "No thanks, hehe."
Xiao Xiao also lowered her head—not out of guilt, but pure embarrassment.
She! Absolutely had to practice her alcohol tolerance until she could drink anyone under the table!
Little did Lu Hanchuan know, his iron-willed wife was so determined.
After dinner, Xiao Xiao sent Bai Mengan to watch TV in the living room while she helped Lu Hanchuan clean up.
Ye Xiaoxiao stood nearby with a clean dish towel, waiting to wipe the dishes dry after Lu Hanchuan washed them, then put them away in the cupboard.
"I think I should learn how to cook," Xiao Xiao offered.
"No need." Lu Hanchuan genuinely believed it wasn’t necessary—Xiao Xiao’s hands were meant to heal people. Cooking wasn’t a skill she had to master.
"Why? If I learn, I can cook for you." Though she couldn’t guarantee she’d actually succeed.
"If you learn, what good would I be?" Lu Hanchuan finished washing the last bowl, wiped down the sink, and tidied up with practiced ease.
"I’m just worried I’ll go hungry when you’re busy."
Xiao Xiao blurted out honestly.
Lu Hanchuan laughed affectionately. "Don’t worry, I won't let that happen."
Since Lu Hanchuan had decided to take Xiao Xiao to the island, he would certainly arrange everything properly.
Xiao Xiao put away the bowls, half-convinced.
...
Two days before departure, Ye Xiaoxiao and Lu Hanchuan stayed at the Lu family home.
Both Old Mrs. Lu and Old Mr. Lu doted on their grandson and wished to keep him in the capital, but they knew the organization's orders could not be defied.
All they could do was urge the young couple to take care of each other and live well while away.
Lu Xingzhou also had some words for his son, and the two went upstairs to the study for a long talk.
Meanwhile, Yun Chengxiu had some instructions for Xiao Xiao.
"Hanchuan's maternal grandfather and uncle are in Jinhai City. I've put in a word with them. If you encounter any difficulties, you can call the Yun family. They’re nearer to Jinhai than Beijing, and it’s more convenient for traveling to Changjing Island."
"I understand, Mom."
"Hanchuan’s grandfather likes you very much. He regretted not being able to attend the wedding. If you have time, visit the Yun family to see him."
The Yun family too had three generations of military service. Unlike Grandpa Lu, who started from scratch, they had a solid family foundation, and their descendants rose steadily, making them a powerhouse in Jinhai City.
Ye Xiaoxiao nodded along to everything.
In the afternoon, Lu Jie came by the house.
She seemed to have settled into her job now, and she brought gifts with her.
Yun Chengxiu inquired about her work, and Lu Jie replied that everything was going well.
"Lu Jie, do you want to stay in the capital? You’re at a suitable age now. If you’d like, I could set you up with someone suitable."
Yun Chengxiu wasn't being pushy, but since Lu Jie was a relative of the Lu family, it would be good if she could settle down in the capital.
Lu Jie looked down. "I haven’t met the right person yet."
Yun Chengxiu said, "There are plenty of eligible young men at my workplace. If you don’t mind, I could arrange an introduction for you."
Lu Jie was delighted—a match from an elder beat picking someone herself. "Thank you, Auntie."
Seeing that Lu Jie was quiet and sensible, Yun Chengxiu wouldn’t introduce her to any spoiled rich kids.
Those capital city playboys might seem refined, but they didn't necessarily make good husband material.
Yun Chengxiu sounded out Lu Jie on her ideal type to set up a good match later.
