Chapter 462 I’ll Take Care of You at Your Home
by 六六小可爱**Chapter 462: I’ll Come Take Care of You at Your Place**
Speak of the devil and he shall appear.
You really shouldn’t talk about people behind their backs—sure enough, before long, Wang Pandi showed up.
She had somehow heard that Wang Yunshan had given birth and came specifically to visit.
When she saw the baby in the swaddling cloth, she curled her lips in disdain.
Just a girl—nothing to get excited about.
"Sis, why didn’t you tell me you had the baby? I could’ve brought Mom and Dad over."
Wang Yunshan scoffed. She hadn’t been hoping for them to come.
"Why are you here?"
Wang Pandi pouted. "I’m your sister. Shouldn’t I come see you now that you’ve had a baby?"
She shot Jiang Yu a sidelong glance. "Even an outsider knew, but you didn’t tell me. Who’s your real sister here?"
Wang Yunshan gave her an impatient look. "What do you want? Did Lai Zhijie stop hitting you?"
Wang Pandi’s face turned red with embarrassment and anger. "Sis, what nonsense are you saying!"
Wang Yunshan knew she wouldn’t want to admit it in front of others—it was all about saving face.
And the reason she’d held off on divorcing for so long was also for the sake of preserving dignity.
"Sis, weren’t you the one urging me to divorce? Well, I agreed. Since you’re in your postpartum recovery now, let me come take care of you at your place."
"No need," Wang Yunshan refused without hesitation.
"My mother-in-law will take care of me. I don’t need you."
"That’s not the same thing!" Wang Pandi argued.
"Mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationships have always been tricky. Do you really think she’ll care for you like I would?"
"What kind of nonsense is that? Of course my mother-in-law will be more attentive than you. You didn’t even come here for me. Just go, you’re giving me a headache."
The apartment Lin Chenghui got had two rooms—enough space for his parents when they visit, but adding Wang Pandi would be inconvenient.
Besides, Wang Pandi didn’t seem serious about divorcing at all. She was definitely up to something.
Turned down, Wang Pandi glared at Jiang Yu but didn’t leave right away.
Before long, the baby began to cry.
Lin Chenghui moved to pick her up, but Wang Pandi got there first.
"Brother-in-law, she must’ve wet herself. Let me check."
But she didn’t know how to handle a baby. She was too rough, tugging too hard and hurting the baby, who cried even louder.
Wang Pandi frowned and muttered, "Big temper for such a little girl."
Lin Chenghui’s face darkened and pushed her aside. "I’ve got her."
Wang Pandi’s dismissive attitude toward the baby girl stirred his resentment.
Watching him change the diaper with practiced ease, Wang Pandi pouted. “Brother-in-law, it’s just a little wet. No need to change it that often.”
“How I raise my daughter isn’t your concern.”
Seeing his undisguised impatience with her, Wang Pandi turned red with anger.
“Sis! Look at brother-in-law! I was just giving a friendly reminder!”
Wang Yunshan glared coldly at her. “If you want to look down on yourself, fine, but don’t compare my daughter to you. She’s my treasure. In my house, boys and girls are the same.”
But the first child was always different.
The child Wang Yunshan had gone through so much to bring into the world was loved to the core—how could she tolerate Wang Pandi treating her like this?
Jiang Yu thought Wang Pandi would leave after such harsh words, but surprisingly, even that didn’t drive her away.
For a moment, Jiang Yu felt puzzled—what was Wang Pandi really here for?
Only when Lin Chenghui went out to get hot water did Jiang Yu become suspicious.
“Yunshan, I’ll let you rest now. I’ll visit you at home once you’re discharged.”
“Alright.”
Jiang Yu left the ward and headed toward the tea room.
Sure enough, Wang Pandi was there too.
She stood next to Lin Chenghui, way too close.
“Brother-in-law, let me help my sister during her postpartum recovery. I grew up with her—I know her better than your mom ever could. I’ll take good care of her.”
“No need.”
Wang Pandi reached out to touch his arm, but Lin Chenghui shoved her away hard.
“What are you doing?!”
Wang Pandi hadn’t expected such a strong reaction. She gave him a wounded look.
“Brother-in-law, don’t you think I’m prettier than my sister? If you’re willing, I’ll divorce Lai Zhijie right away. I’ll take care of you alongside my sister!”
Lin Chenghui had never met someone so shameless—and she was Wang Yunshan’s own sister!
His face went cold, his voice sharp and threatening. “You’re Yunshan’s sister. How could you do this to her?”
“How is this my fault? Blame her for being worthless and only having a girl. Once I divorce Lai Zhijie, I’ll definitely give you a son!”
Lin Chenghui clenched his jaw, rage boiling inside him.
If Wang Pandi weren’t a woman, he’d have hit her already.
“Get the hell out!”
Wang Pandi froze. “What?”
“Get the hell out! Stay the hell away from my house, and don’t show your face in front of Yunshan again! Wang Pandi, I’m letting you off this once. If there’s a next time, I’ll make you pay for it!”
"How could he?!" Wang Pandi had never imagined she would fail—not since making this decision.
Lin Chenghui actually had the nerve to reject her!
"Brother-in-law, if my parents hadn’t insisted on keeping me at home for a matrilocal marriage, it might have been me who married you instead of my sister. Then I wouldn't have ended up with Lai Zhijie and had to put up with his daily beatings. Brother-in-law, I’m younger and prettier than my sister—why won’t you even look at me?"
Lin Chenghui gave her a cold stare and scoffed.
"Where do you get the nerve? Does Lai Zhijie know what you’re doing?"
Wang Pandi’s face flashed with guilt—he certainly didn’t.
Lai Zhijie was unhinged. If he found out what she’d done, he’d kill her.
"If you know what’s good for you, stay away from us from now on."
Wang Pandi began to sob. "Brother-in-law, I’m out of options. Lai Zhijie keeps beating me. He’ll only agree to divorce me if you intervene—I’m desperate."
At first, when Lai Zhijie hit her, she never even considered divorce—what a disgrace that would be!
But after enduring the abuse for so long, she’d reached her limit.
She had even gone home and brought it up with her parents.
But Auntie Du shut her down flat.
"It must be your fault—why else would he hit you?"
"Men blow off steam after work. If he were any better, he’d have married someone better than you."
"You're still in one piece—it's not like he's beaten you to death. How dare you even think about divorce? If you go through with it, don’t ever come back!"
With no one to support her, Wang Pandi fixed her sights on Lin Chenghui.
What man could resist? All she had to do was crook her finger, and he’d fall right into her hands.
"I don’t care about your problems. I won’t tell your sister about today—but get out of my sight now!"
Wang Pandi was clingy as a leech—if he showed even a hint of weakness, she’d never let go.
Seeing how resolute he was, she had no choice but to leave.
Just as she stepped out of the break room, she spotted Jiang Yu leaning against the wall.
Her stomach dropped, and she couldn’t meet Jiang Yu’s eyes.
"Wang Pandi."
She looked up—only to be met with a stinging slap across the face.
Jiang Yu had struck so hard her hand throbbed, yet it still didn’t satisfy her rage.
"Let this slap be a lesson. If I ever catch you near Brother-in-law again, I’ll make sure Lai Zhijie punishes you himself."
Wang Pandi bit her lip hard—not stopping until her mouth flooded with blood.
