Chapter 490 Still Going Home to Tell on Me?
by 六六小可爱**Chapter 490: Still Running Home to Tattle?**
Due to the incident involving Jiang Yu today, Ding Jianan pushed back her trip to Henan by two days.
She wanted to give Jiang Yu time to wrap up things at the factory before leaving.
Though touched, Jiang Yu truly felt it wasn’t necessary.
She had already decided to resign—so what else was there to handle?
"My husband is coming with us. He just handed in his resignation too, so we’ll treat it as a chance to unwind."
Ding Jianan wasn’t sure whether to praise her for staying positive—both of them were in such a rough spot, yet still in the mood for a trip?
"Alright then, with Section Chief He along, we’ll be safer."
After Ding Jianan left, Jiang Yu found herself at loose ends and stood gazing at the commendation banners on the wall.
These were the honors she had earned at Factory No. 2—some were banners, others plaques.
Although her resignation was meant as a strategic move, looking back now stirred mixed feelings.
So much effort, all for nothing.
She refused to accept it.
When Xu Lihua walked in, she happened to see Jiang Yu taking down the banners from the wall and dumping them into a corner.
Her stomach dropped, and she hurried over.
"What are you doing?"
Jiang Yu shrugged. "They’re worthless now. Might as well toss them."
"Oh my goodness, these are honors! Plenty of folks would kill for these—how can you just throw them away?"
Xu Lihua gathered them up, dismayed.
If these had been her son’s, she’d have cherished every one.
"Jiang Yu, are you really resigning?"
"I’ve already submitted my resignation. It’s final," Jiang Yu said.
She was burning her bridges—if this didn’t work out, she’d leave Factory No. 2 for good.
But she had no regrets.
Xu Lihua lamented, "You shouldn’t be the one to go."
It wasn’t even her fault. If someone had to leave, it shouldn’t have been her.
Of course, most people thought she was too headstrong.
She should’ve learned to bend without breaking—there’d be time to bounce back.
"Whether I should or not, I’m gone. Aunt Xu, I’ll be heading to Henan in a few days. Would you mind keeping an eye on my kids?"
Xu Lihua was taken aback. "You’re still going through with Henan?"
After such a major incident, she’s still in good spirits.
"Why wouldn’t I? I’m unemployed now and still have a family to feed. Writing scripts for the film studio at least brings in some income."
Xu Lihua asked in a hushed tone, "Is that copyright fee really that much?"
Jiang Yu nodded calmly.
"Yes."
What she left unsaid was that she also got a cut from publishing.
Xu Lihua was jealous—no wonder she quit without hesitation; she had the means to back it up.
"Seeing you like this, I guess you don’t need my comfort."
Jiang Yu chuckled. "No big deal. I’m usually the one mocking others."
She hadn’t forgotten Fu Xianghong’s smug gloating yesterday.
Xu Lihua, thinking of the same thing, asked, "Is Liu Dagui getting out anytime soon?"
"Doubt it."
He wasn’t involved in the espionage, but he made things worse by blabbing about Jiang Yu discovering the treasure and handing it over to the second factory.
Even if Jiang Yu let the theft slide, he’d still be stuck.
Xu Lihua kept shaking her head. "He dug his own grave. Don’t sweat your trip to Yu’nan—I’ll watch the house and make sure no one messes with your younger siblings."
Jiang Yu wasn’t worried about that.
They’d only target her and He Tingyue; He Feiyan and the younger two weren’t in danger.
Xu Lihua had barely left when He Feiyan got home.
She was in class yesterday and only heard about it afterward.
Watching her walk into the yard, Jiang Yu pressed gently, "Shouldn’t you be in school?"
He Feiyan scowled. "Don’t get me started."
Jiang Yu asked, "Did someone bully you?"
He Feiyan pouted—tough on the outside but soft at home.
"I was leading the votes for Teacher of the Semester."
Jiang Yu asked, "Didn’t they pick you in the end?"
"Nope, Xue Ying snatched it."
"Xue Ying?"
He Feiyan sneered, "The factory director’s daughter."
"Oh, that one."
Jiang Yu patted her hand. "Didn’t you fight it with the school?"
He Feiyan gritted her teeth, "How could I not have fought for it? But..."
"But they changed their tune the moment they saw your brother and me leave the factory and gave the opportunity to Xue Ying, right?"
Jiang Yu wasn’t new to the working world—she understood exactly how these things worked.
She hated this kind of office politics, but sometimes you had no choice but to go along with it.
He Feiyan dropped her head. "Sis-in-law, it’s not on you."
"Of course it’s not our fault, and it’s not yours either. Everyone voted for you—that proves you were the best choice."
Jiang Yu stood up and patted her shoulder.
"Let’s go."
He Feiyan blinked. "Where?"
"Technically, I’m your family. If you’re being bullied at school, shouldn’t I have your back?"
A rush of warmth filled He Feiyan’s chest, mixed with a little embarrassment.
By rights, that was true—but she wasn’t a student anymore. She was a teacher now.
Jiang Yu flicked her forehead playfully. "As long as your brother and I are around, we’ve got you. Anytime, anywhere, you can turn to us."
He Feiyan's eyes welled up slightly. "But I'm an adult now."
"And even if you were a giant, you’d still be stuck calling me sis."
Jiang Yu took her hand. "Come on."
He Feiyan hesitated. "Do you think this will work?"
Jiang Yu shrugged. "I don’t know. I doubt your boss will care what I say."
After all, she wasn’t Department Head Jiang anymore.
"But no matter what happens, we won’t know unless we try."
The two women stepped out of the house and ran into Lin Hongxia, who waved them down. "Jiang Yu, going out?"
All her friendliness had an angle—nothing more than a play to get close to Liu Dagui.
Jiang Yu walked right past her without a word, pulling He Feiyan along.
When they arrived at the school...
"So, the final decision rests with the department head."
"Yes, but performance reviews and votes each make up half the total score. I crunched the numbers—I came out highest."
Xue Ying was always late and rough with the kids. Her score was near the bottom.
Even if it wasn’t He Feiyan, it definitely shouldn’t have gone to Xue Ying.
Without pause, Jiang Yu and He Feiyan made a beeline for the office.
Xue Ying, sitting in her seat, was the first to spot Jiang Yu.
"Pfft, He Feiyan, how old are you? Still crying to mommy and daddy?"
Jiang Yu looked at her. "Aren't you the one hiding behind your family's clout, bullying people however you like?"
Xue Ying's face darkened instantly. "Don't talk crap. When have I ever bullied anyone?"
Jiang Yu casually pulled out a chair and sat down. "What 'Outstanding Teacher'? Fei Yan never wanted it in the first place. But if they can pick anyone, why choose someone ranked last in overall evaluation? With that kind of character and qualifications, no wonder she's not convinced."
One of the older teachers stood up and tried to mediate. "Feiyan, just let it go. Stirring up trouble won’t help you."
If she offended the grade director now, she'd just get payback later. In the end, she’d be the one suffering.
He Feiyan had thought the same before—too scared to go all out.
But with Jiang Yu backing her up, she felt she had to stand up for herself.
"Thank you, Sister Ping, but I don’t think this should be dropped."
Xue Ying snorted. "Who gets the spot is up to the school. Who do you think you are to complain? Who said the 'Outstanding Teacher' title has to be yours?"
