Chapter 501 I Don’t Like Your Type
by 六六小可爱**Chapter 501: I Don’t Like Your Kind**
Jiang Ting had finally gotten what she wished for—Jiang Yu had arrived—but she didn’t believe her sister had come for her.
She still felt disoriented, like she was trapped in a bad dream.
"What brings you here?" Jiang Ting asked.
Someone nearby overheard and found it puzzling.
"Didn't she come for you?"
"I wish that were true," Jiang Ting sniffled. "But I know my place. She wouldn’t come for me."
Jiang Yu rolled her eyes. "Well, at least you know your place."
Jiang Ting covered her mouth, sobbing louder.
"Oh God, I'm going through hell here. Can't you even try to comfort me? We're twins, for God's sake! And you don't care about me at all."
The more she cried, the colder Jiang Yu’s expression became.
Ding Jianan pressed her lips together. She could see Jiang Yu was running out of patience.
Her lack of feeling for this sister was real.
"How did you end up here?" Jiang Yu cut straight to the painful subject.
At the mention of it, bitterness welled up inside Jiang Ting.
She clenched her jaw so hard it hurt, thinking of how every day she was locked away, cursing Lin Hongxia and Fu Xiangyang.
"Lin Hongxia wanted me to divorce Fu Xiangyang. When I refused, she sent me here to rest during pregnancy. She fed me this lie—that if I stayed away for a few months, she’d bring me back once Fu Xiangyang recovered."
At first, Jiang Ting had resisted. She didn’t want to leave Beicheng, but she had no other options.
In the end, Fu Xiangyang convinced her, promising he'd come himself in a month or two once he was better.
But the moment she stepped into Tongqiao Village, she immediately sensed the trap.
Men stood in a line drawing straws. Those who picked blank slips got nothing.
Those who drew “son” could claim the baby if Jiang Ting gave birth to a boy.
Those who picked “daughter” could take Jiang Ting as their wife after she delivered.
Jiang Ting wanted to run, but how could she, in her condition?
In the end, Fu Xiangyang’s uncle Wang Qiusheng won her, while the child would go to Wang Guisheng.
Jiang Ting would never forget the way they looked at her—as if she wasn’t a person, but merchandise.
Ding Jianan knew the story would be cruel, but hearing it made her blood run cold.
That “daughter” wasn’t even an option revealed how utterly depraved they were.
They wanted wives but threw away daughters.
They had started down a dark path, only to end up right back where they began.
"They don’t deserve to be human," Ding Jianan said, closing her eyes.
Jiang Ting bit her lip and shot a resentful look at Jiang Yu.
"You see, this is what real favoritism toward sons looks like. Mom and Dad treated you *pretty* well—at least they didn’t abandon you."
Jiang Yu stayed silent.
No matter what happens, a person’s true nature doesn’t change.
Jiang Ting was as annoying as ever!
While Jiang Ting kept rambling, Ding Jianan wanted to slap her.
"Just shut up," Ye Zhu snapped impatiently.
Jiang Ting realized she was the target. Her eyes filled with tears as she gave Ye Zhu a pitiful stare.
Her face seemed to say, *I’m already suffering—how can you say that?*
Ye Zhu frowned. "You’d still be in that cellar if not for Jiang Yu. I’m not asking you to change, but can you just shut up?"
Jiang Ting sniffled, playing the victim.
Only Zhu Yuanzhi defended her. "Jiang Yu, that’s too harsh. She’s your own sister—how could you treat her like this?"
Jiang Yu looked irritated. "If you like her so much, you can have her."
Jiang Ting glanced at Zhu Yuanzhi, looked him over, then let her lips droop in disappointment.
"Sorry, you’re too short for me."
The apology in her eyes left Zhu Yuanzhi stammering, mortified.
"I... I..."
He was just trying to be kind—he never intended anything more.
"I get it, but you’re *so* not my type. Even if I end up with someone else, they’ll still have to be better than Fu Xiangyang."
Jiang Ting seemed genuinely serious. Being stuck with someone worse would invite ridicule, after all.
Suddenly, Lin Chenghui popped into her head. In her past life, they had been married—could fate bring them together again?
Zhu Yuanzhi snapped, "How am I worse than Fu Xiangyang?"
As soon as he said it, he groaned, rubbing his forehead.
Who cared about comparisons? He never planned to be with Jiang Ting anyway.
Jiang Ting arched a brow. "Are you sure you want me to answer? It might hurt your pride."
Zhu Yuanzhi shut his mouth. "Forget it."
Any more, and he’d lose all dignity.
Ye Zhu smirked. *Serves him right.*
The search and rescue mission continued late into the night, with more and more victims being taken to the police station for safety.
Every single one of them was a woman.
With nowhere else to put them for now, they had to be brought to the police station first—at least their safety could be ensured here.
Jiang Yu and the others were busy laying out bedding and preparing food, their heads spinning from all the work.
Yu Lan only showed up with the last group.
The moment Yu Lan saw Ding Jianan, she threw her arms around her and sobbed.
When Ding Jianan was rescued by Jiang Yu, she’d promised Yu Lan she’d get her out too.
Yu Lan hadn’t dared to hope, because only then could she avoid disappointment.
But when the police appeared, she knew Ding Jianan had kept her word.
Jiang Yu counted the victims, including Jiang Ting—34 in all.
The oldest was over forty, their eyes empty, some too terrified of people to even speak.
Jiang Yu’s heart ached. She stood up and stepped outside to clear her head.
As soon as she walked out, she saw He Tingyue returning.
“Everything go okay?”
He Tingyue nodded, about to take her hand but stopping himself—he was filthy.
Jiang Yu couldn’t help but laugh and grabbed his hand anyway.
“Since when have I ever minded?”
This scene happened to be witnessed by Geng Guohua, who clicked his tongue.
“You two are making me sick.”
Jiang Yu shot him a glance. “Keep it up, Captain Geng, and you’ll die alone.”
Geng Guohua scoffed. “Like I’d ever need a wife.”
He strode inside, his usual smirk slipping as he saw the women huddled together on the floor.
“Once they’re settled, we’ll track down their families.”
“What about those without families?”
Geng Guohua gave him a sidelong glance. “If they don’t have any, we’ll turn to the government. With so many factories and workplaces, it’s not like finding them jobs is asking for the moon.”
Jiang Yu stepped forward. “Let’s not rush this. They should rest for the night—we can question them tomorrow. Just freed, they weren’t in any shape to talk.”
Only then did Geng Guohua nod. “Alright, tomorrow it is. Look after them.”
Among all these people, Ding Jianan was the only one Yu Lan knew.
Ding Jianan couldn’t bring herself to leave her either and decided to stick with her overnight.
“The rest of you, head back to the guesthouse. I’m staying put tonight.”
Jiang Yu was completely exhausted and really needed to go back to rest.
"Director Ding, you should get some rest now. We're heading back."
Jiang Ting quickly stood up, wanting to follow Jiang Yu.
"Jiang Yu, I don’t want to stay here. I’m going to the guesthouse too."
Jiang Yu refused, "You need an introduction letter to stay at the guesthouse. Just stay here, and if you need anything, ask the officers."
Jiang Ting whined, pouting, "I’m your own sister. Don’t I rate some special treatment? I don’t want to sleep on the floor."
Jiang Yu gave her a cold look, "You get no special treatment from me. If you don’t want to sleep here, go back to Tongqiao Village."
Jiang Ting was the kind of person who needed to be put in her place—she had that kind of personality.
With that, she shut up and behaved.
