Chapter 516 Pregnant Before Marriage
by 六六小可爱**Chapter 516 – Pregnancy Before Marriage**
Before any news came from Xiong Shuihua’s side, Wang Meili showed up at Jiang Yu’s place first.
Considering how much she spoiled Jiang Hao, holding out this long was already pushing it for her.
“Jiang Yu, I never cared that you brushed Jiang Hao off before, but today, you must save him!”
This hit her even harder than before. Wang Meili’s once jet-black hair now had noticeable streaks of gray.
Her gaze at Jiang Yu was no longer demanding, but pleading.
“Last time Jiang Hao was framed for murder, you weren’t this panicked.”
Wang Meili was crying and sniffling. “This time is different.”
Back then, when Jiang Hao was accused, the police held off on charging him because the case was suspicious.
But now, if this drags on any longer, Jiang Hao will be convicted!
“Jiang Yu, just this once! If you help Jiang Hao, even if you never speak to me or your dad again, or won’t take care of us when we’re old, I won’t bother you anymore.”
Jiang Yu looked down, thinking it over.
She’d handle this, no question—but not for Jiang Hao’s sake, rather for Wei Nan’s.
“Have you seen Jiang Hao yet?”
Wang Meili shook her head hard, angry.
“No, they wouldn’t let me in to see him.”
Jiang Yu asked, “What do you know about Xiong Shuihua?”
Wang Meili only knew that Jiang Hao was seeing some city girl, but she’d never met her and didn’t know much else.
“That’s it?” Jiang Yu frowned.
Wang Meili clenched her teeth. “That’s all I know, but I’m certain my boy isn’t some creep! He told me he was going to marry that girl—why would he force himself on her?”
Jiang Yu said coolly, “But the fact is, he got caught harassing someone and got arrested. Just you believing him won’t change anything.”
Wang Meili covered her face and sobbed. “What should we do? Hao’er got played by that girl. She never wanted to marry him—he was too dumb to see it.”
“Why do you say that?”
Wang Meili sniffled. “When they first got together, I pushed them to get married, but your brother said Xiong Shuihua refused. She kept finding faults—said he was broke, then that his job was trash.”
That was why Jiang Hao had the nerve to ask Jiang Yu for help switching jobs.
Not long after, Xiong Shuihua accused Jiang Hao of harassment.
He didn’t even get a chance to defend himself. He was beaten badly by Xiong Shuihua’s three brothers and then hauled away.
Xiong Shuihua’s whole involvement seemed like it was set up from the start—to get Jiang Hao convicted.
As for whether it was a frame-up, Jiang Yu couldn’t be sure yet.
“I understand. I’ll get a friend to look into it. You should go home for now.”
Wang Meili gaped at her, frozen in place.
"Can't... can't you get your brother out first?"
Jiang Yu shot her a cold look. "What do I have that could save someone accused of sexual misconduct?"
Wang Meili staggered away, heartbroken.
When He Tingyue returned, she couldn’t help bringing up the matter.
Something didn’t add up, but she couldn’t figure out what was wrong.
"If Xiong Shuihua framed Jiang Hao, why would she do that? If Wei Nan told Xiong Shuihua to do it, what does he have on her? And why would he go after Jiang Hao?"
Jiang Yu sat lost in thought, unable to make sense of it all.
He Tingyue sighed when he saw her tugging at her hair and gently pulled her hand away.
"You’ll go bald at this rate."
"I just don’t get it," Jiang Yu said anxiously.
"Maybe you’re overthinking. Not everyone knows you’re on bad terms with your family. What if Wei Nan couldn’t get to you and decided to take it out on Jiang Hao?"
The logic was sound, but Jiang Yu still doubted it was that simple.
He flicked her forehead lightly. "Sweetheart, don’t give Wei Nan too much credit."
If Wei Nan were really smart, he wouldn’t have gotten himself into this mess.
Jiang Yu had no reply. Had she been overthinking?
"But why would Xiong Shuihua listen to Wei Nan?"
He Tingyue pulled her close. "Xiaoqi’s team will figure it out."
Jiang Yu let it go for now. There was nothing else she could do but wait.
Luckily, Xiaoqi and his men worked fast and had answers by the next day.
"Big sister, Brother Tietou went to the station and dug up some details."
On the day it happened, Jiang Hao and Xiong Shuihua had planned a hike together.
When they got back, Xiong Shuihua's family took her to the police and accused Jiang Hao of assault.
"Did the police arrest him just on her word?"
"No, because there were clear signs of assault on Xiong Shuihua."
Jiang Yu’s face darkened. Why would Xiong Shuihua go that far to frame him?
"Got anything else?"
Xiaoqi nodded quickly. "Yes!"
"Xiong Shuihua was two-timing. Besides Jiang Hao, she had another guy! This one was sketchy—he never showed his face when they met."
Fang Tong snorted. "But the mask was useless. We ID’d him anyway."
"Who is it?"
"The secretary of Director Qian from the Textile Industry Revolutionary Committee—Zhong Yue."
Xiao Qi wasn't about to be upstaged. "There's one more thing. Everyone else thinks it's fine, but I find it suspicious."
Jiang Yu gave him an encouraging look. "Tell us."
Xiao Qi said, "Xiong Shuihua went to the gynecologist."
Fang Tong sneered, "What's strange about a woman seeing a gynecologist?"
Xiao Qi lifted his chin defiantly. "There's nothing strange about that, but I overheard the janitor talking about Xiong Shuihua behind her back."
"What did she say?"
Xiao Qi repeated the woman’s exact words: "So young and already so immoral—got pregnant out of wedlock and had an abortion. If she doesn’t take care of her body now, she’ll suffer later in life."
Fang Tong and the others widened their eyes. "Xiao Qi, you sneaky devil! Such important news and you didn’t share it with us!"
Xiao Qi smirked smugly. If he had told them earlier, how could he make an impression in front of Jiang Yu now?
Jiang Yu was shocked. "Xiong Shuihua got an abortion?"
She and Jiang Hao hadn’t known each other long—that child couldn’t possibly be his.
Could the father be Zhong Yue?
But if she was already dating Zhong Yue, why would she mess with Jiang Hao?
And getting Jiang Hao locked up on indecency charges wouldn’t do her any good either.
"I think we should start with Zhong Yue," Jiang Yu concluded.
Xiao Qi cracked his knuckles eagerly. "Sis-in-law, leave it to me!"
Jiang Yu nodded. "You're truly the best investigator. You uncovered Xiong Shuihua’s secret so quickly—Zhong Yue will be no problem at all."
Swelling with pride from the praise, Xiao Qi pounded his chest.
"Don’t worry, Sis-in-law. Consider it done!"
