**Chapter 480: You Must Have Heard Wrong**

Taking advantage of her day off, Jiang Yu first prepared what she needed for the trip to Yunan.

April was coming, and with more rain expected, she packed a good amount.

The next day, she asked for time off from work.

Director Zheng was surprised to hear she was following the film crew to Yunan.

“Are you sure you want to leave now?”

He might as well have said, “Wei Nan is watching you.”

Jiang Yu chuckled. “Director, you wouldn’t just give away my spot while I’m gone, right?”

Director Zheng snorted, his mustache twitching. “Of course not!”

Waving a hand, he approved her leave.

“Get back soon, and be careful.”

He was still waiting for Jiang Yu’s TV series to air.

Jiang Yu grinned. “I promise to return safely.”

After leaving the factory office, she went straight back to the publicity department.

Passing by the finance department, she heard arguing inside and paused.

Jiang Yu tilted her head slightly, peeking through the door crack.

He Qianqian was up against Qian Wei and Sister Ying, who were ganging up on her.

“I didn’t do these calculations. I just rewrote them like you told me to. How is this mistake my fault? Ever since I got here, neither of you has taught me anything about bookkeeping.”

Since arriving, He Qianqian had learned very little.

Qian Wei and Sister Ying made sure to steer clear of her, and whenever she asked questions, no one answered.

Now, when something went wrong, they wanted to dump it on her.

If she were the type to take it lying down, she might have just accepted the blame.

Qian Wei stood with her arms crossed, giving her a smug, sneering look.

“Well, this is all in your writing. Whether you admit it or not, it’s your mistake! Director Miao hates people who pass the buck. Just fess up already.”

He Qianqian’s face flushed red with anger. “That’s bull! You’re the one trying to shift the blame—this account was clearly your work!”

Either Qian Wei had messed up unintentionally, or she’d done it on purpose, just waiting to trap her.

He Qianqian felt that sitting in the office was even more exhausting than being a team leader in the workshop.

Qian Wei sneered. “Can’t handle it? Then go back to the workshop. Don’t think an office chair is so easy to sit in. A backwater hick like you, trying to be our equal?”

He Qianqian glared at her. If not for how rare this opportunity was, and how much effort Jiang Yu had put into getting it for her, she would’ve gone back to the workshop in a heartbeat.

There, she only needed to work with her hands, not her brain—and certainly not deal with such complicated relationships.

Jiang Yu raised her hand and knocked on the window. As soon as Qian Wei and Sis Ying saw who was outside, their faces changed.

"No need to hide your bullying now? Your finance team’s got more nerve than our office folks."

Sis Ying quickly replied, "Director Jiang, what’s this about? We weren’t bullying anyone."

Jiang Yu lifted her chin. "I heard everything just now. Are you saying I misheard?"

Qian Wei stood her ground. "You *definitely* misheard!"

This was the downside of having less seniority. If Lan Raoping had been standing here today, Qian Wei wouldn’t have dared to speak like that.

Plainly put, Jiang Yu just didn’t have the clout to scare her.

Jiang Yu chuckled. "Bold enough to flip the script, huh?"

She turned to He Qianqian and beckoned.

    "Come here."

Qian Wei sneered. "Everyone knows He Qianqian was brought into the factory by you. Of course you’d take her side."

Sis Ying pulled her arm, shooting her a look.

Starting something with Jiang Yu wouldn’t end well.

But Qian Wei ignored her. She and Jiang Yu had history—it wasn’t a new thing.

"Director Jiang, you flexing your authority now?"

Jiang Yu found the accusation amusing. "Calling out what I heard is flexing?"

Qian Wei smirked, goading her. "We already said you misheard. He Qianqian screwed up—we were fixing it."

He Qianqian immediately retorted, "*You* were the one who made the mistake! You *purposely* botched the books and had me recopy them just to pin the blame on me!"

Soon enough, Miao Shilan stepped inside from outside.

"What’s all the commotion? Director Jiang, is something the matter?"

Jiang Yu smiled slightly. "Just dropping in. Here to borrow someone from you, Director Miao."

"Oh? Who’s caught your fancy on my team? Just so you know, no guarantees I’ll give ’em up."

Jiang Yu replied, "I mentioned to Factory Director Zheng before that I wanted Qianqian in my publicity department, but he said you got to her first."

He Qianqian’s eyes lit up—she didn’t want to stay in the finance department at all.

"Finance doesn’t seem understaffed anymore. Why not let me have Qianqian?"

Miao Shilan asked with a smile, "Who told you finance isn’t short on staff? Cai Xiaole was holding her own before, but she insisted on going to publicity. Fine, I let that slide. Now, after finally getting Qianqian, you want to take her too?"

Jiang Yu crossed her arms. "No one in finance’s got her back. She’s too busy getting iced out—it’s brutal. She’d be better off coming to my side."

Miao Shilan’s smile tightened as her sharp gaze swept over the other two.

    "What’s going on here?"

Qian Wei shot back, "Why assume it’s us? Why not blame He Qianqian?"

Miao Shilan said calmly, "She hasn't been here long, and you haven't taught her much. What mistake could she possibly make?"

"Chief, she made a mistake, and we were teaching her. It just happened that Chief Jiang overheard," Ying-jie hurriedly explained.

Now was not the time to admit they were trying to pin this on He Qianqian—that would be a whole different matter.

He Qianqian's face was tense. "Qian Wei made messy ledger entries and had me recopy them, trying to pin the mistake on me."

Ying-jie tutted. "Why can't you be honest, child? If you made a mistake, just admit it. We're senior to you—would we really harm you?"

Qian Wei sighed with fake concern. "If she won't admit it, fine. Let’s just say it was my mistake."

Jiang Yu remained silent, watching Miao Shilan instead.

Miao Shilan had already made up her mind. She wasn’t oblivious to the tensions in the office lately—she just thought it was petty drama, not worth making a fuss over.

But since Jiang Yu was determined to intervene, she couldn’t ignore it anymore.

"Your temper really reminds me of Little He," Miao Shilan said, shaking her head with a wry smile.

"Then cut their pay—half a month’s salary and the entire performance bonus. If they do it again, they’ll face disciplinary action. Also, Qianqian, move your desk inside and let Deputy Section Chief Duan take you under his wing."

The "Deputy Section Chief Duan" she referred to was Duan Jianren, who had only recently been promoted.

Duan Jianren played office politics, but overall, he was fairly level-headed.

Qian Wei was indignant. "Chief, why cut my pay? You’d rather believe Jiang Yu than me?"

Miao Shilan tapped the desk sharply, her expression stern.

"Watch your mouth. She is Chief Jiang, your boss! Why on earth would I choose to believe you over her?"

Her cold gaze swept over Ying-jie’s face.

"You two are He Qianqian’s seniors. I assigned you to guide her, but instead, you started ganging up on her. Is that how seniors should behave? Keep that crap out of our office—I don’t play that game!"

Unlike Qian Wei, Ying-jie knew which way the wind was blowing. She quickly lowered her head.

"Understood. I promise it won’t happen again."

But Qian Wei, still defiant, turned and flounced out of the office.
