Chapter 6: Escape (Part 1)
byChapter 6: Escape (Part 1)
Xiao Hua led Su Mo directly to the school gate.
Along the way, when they encountered zombies, Xiao Hua dispatched them quickly using her hook to avoid more noise.
When they were still over ten meters from the gate, Xiao Hua spotted three zombies dressed in security uniforms pacing at the entrance. They were holding batons or tridents, and the ground was littered with dismembered limbs and large pools of blood.
Looking around, she saw seven or eight more zombies gathered nearby.
While the number of zombies was still manageable, Xiao Hua knew they needed to escape quickly. If they waited any longer and more zombies gathered, they would be trapped inside the school.
They couldn’t afford to waste time.
Xiao Hua made a decisive move and sprinted towards the gate.
The security zombies were slowly turning around when Xiao Hua hooked and pulled off the head of the weakest zombie, snatching the trident from its claws.
Xiao Hua retreated, throwing the trident to Su Mo behind her, and instructed:
"Target the zombies’ heads!"
Next, Xiao Hua turned to face the remaining zombies, throwing her hook at them.
Perhaps due to their agility in life, the two zombies dodged her hook and raised their batons, attacking Xiao Hua.
Xiao Hua charged forward rather than retreating.
She grabbed the baton from the zombie’s hand with her right hand and fired an ice crystal from her left hand, striking the zombie’s eye.
As the zombie froze upon death, Xiao Hua twisted her wrist, grabbed the baton, and kicked the zombie away. She then leaped up and smashed the baton down on the other zombie’s head.
Before the zombie was fully dead and still swinging its claws, Xiao Hua struck it two more times with the baton.
After dealing with the main threat, Xiao Hua turned to check on Su Mo.
Surrounded by zombies again, Su Mo was trembling uncontrollably, recalling the fear from moments earlier. But seeing Xiao Hua's prowess, she found strength she didn’t know she had. Facing a smaller zombie, Su Mo wildly swung the trident and, in a burst of energy, managed to stab the zombie to pieces.
But she was still just a defenseless girl.
After killing one zombie, as Su Mo raised the trident again, a taller zombie grabbed it, and she found herself unable to struggle, nearly being scratched by its claws.
Fortunately, Xiao Hua arrived just in time.
Xiao Hua smashed the zombie’s head with the baton, rescuing Su Mo, and then wielded the baton to strike down the zombies that were closing in.
After taking down a few zombies, Xiao Hua called out to Su Mo, “Let’s go!”
Back at the school gate, Xiao Hua checked the heads of the three security zombies and extracted two crystal nuclei. Then, she led Su Mo through the security booth and out of the school.
Once outside the school, Xiao Hua suddenly asked, “Can you drive?”
Su Mo was startled, “I can, but my skills are not that great…”
“It’s fine, as long as you can drive.”
Xiao Hua needed to find Xiao Zui, and they couldn’t run all the way there. Driving was the best option. Since she would need to deal with zombies along the way, having someone to drive was essential.
Xiao Hua pointed to an SUV by the roadside and asked, "Can you drive this?"
Su Mo nodded, "Yes."
"Alright, stay here. I'll check it out first." Saying that, Xiao Hua walked towards the SUV.
Su Mo nodded again, "O... okay."
Waaaaah, Xiao Hua is so considerate!
As Xiao Hua approached the car, she tightened her grip on the hook and quietly infused it with energy.
Just as she got close, a figure suddenly shot out from the driver’s seat and lunged at Xiao Hua.
This zombie was fast, and its close-range attack could easily catch someone off guard, leading to a tragic end.
But for the ever-alert Xiao Hua, who had absorbed a crystal nucleus, it was hardly a threat.
As soon as the zombie fiercely emerged, it crashed into a small ice shield conjured by Xiao Hua, becoming dazed.
Then, Xiao Hua smashed the zombie’s head with the baton and casually retrieved the crystal nucleus.
Su Mo: Aaaaah, Xiao Hua is incredible!
After dealing with the zombie, Xiao Hua carefully inspected the SUV for any other threats. Once everything was clear, she called out to Su Mo, "Come over."
"Okay!" Su Mo cheerfully replied and ran towards Xiao Hua.
Sitting in the car, Xiao Hua didn’t plan to leave right away.
After fighting zombies for so long, she had gradually adapted mentally, but physically, she was very hungry, and her abilities had drained significantly, requiring time to recover.
Xiao Hua opened her backpack, took out her phone, and set it aside, then turned to Su Mo and asked, "Do you have any food?"
Then, she saw Su Mo looking at her with admiration, her almond-shaped eyes seemingly filled with stars.
Xiao Hua: ...What’s wrong?
When Su Mo didn’t respond, Xiao Hua asked again, "What’s wrong?"
Su Mo mumbled, "My things were all taken by my roommate."
So, she didn’t have any.
Xiao Hua had expected this and took out a small bag of compressed biscuits and a bottle of water, handing them to Su Mo.
Su Mo took the food and quietly glanced at Xiao Hua while taking small bites.
A few seconds later, Su Mo couldn’t hold back, "Xiao Hua, you’re so amazing!"
"Well… I know how to fight, and I have superpowers."
