Chapter 10: Fever (Part 1)

Bai Mu paused, maintaining a normal expression as he explained, "I do have a slight fever, but I've already taken some fever medicine. It's not a big deal."

Xiao Hua’s lips twitched. Not a big deal?

Xiao Zui’s face darkened. He had no idea when Bai Mu had taken the fever medicine and immediately pulled out a thermometer. He measured it, and it showed 40.8 degrees.

"Old Bai!" Xiao Zui’s face turned ashen. Is this what you call not a big deal?

Zhao Ye exclaimed, "Damn, Brother bai, when did you start running a fever?"

Tang Yi and Han Xiu Jie also looked at Bai Mu, but he seemed calm and composed, showing no signs of a high fever.

Without the thermometer, no one would have believed Bai Mu had a high fever.

Seeing their reactions, Xiao Hua was taken aback. "You didn’t notice?"

They really hadn’t.

Given the dire situation outside and the upcoming rescue mission, Bai Mu didn’t want to cause any complications. He took fever medicine and even injected himself with a fever-reducing shot without telling anyone.

Xiao Hua recalled the plot from the book and confidently stated, "I also had a high fever before my superpowers awakened."

Even though she wasn’t entirely sure.

Xiao Hua then pulled Su Mo over. "And Su Mo is also running a fever, though it’s almost over, and her superpowers are about to awaken. I can sense the energy fluctuations now."

"Mm-hm... Yeah." Feeling overwhelmed by sleepiness, Su Mo mumbled a response.

Seeing Su Mo like this, Xiao Hua immediately told her to rest. "It’s safe now. Go rest in my room for a while. Third floor, turn right."

"Okay." Still running a low fever and feeling extremely sleepy, Su Mo didn’t bother with pleasantries. She agreed and headed upstairs.

Xiao Zui was puzzled. "But I didn’t have a fever before my superpowers awakened. I suddenly got them while on a mission."

Recalling the settings from the book, Xiao Hua said ambiguously, "Maybe your situation was special. Normally, it should be like ours. On the way here, I also saw people with fevers and could sense faint energy fluctuations."

Xiao Zui thought about it and found it plausible.

Glancing at the thermometer, Xiao Zui furrowed his brow. "So what do we do about Old Bai now?"

Xiao Hua directly referenced the book’s method. "Generally speaking, just rest well and replenish energy."

Xiao Hua paused. "But his situation is more severe. If we don’t find a way to bring his fever down first, he might end up delirious before his superpowers even awaken."

But Bai Mu had already taken an injection and medicine, and it still didn't work. They couldn't just endure it.

Xiao Hua thought for a moment and decided to try a stronger approach.

She directly told Xiao Zui, "Bro, take him to our bathroom and have him sit in the bathtub."

In the bathroom,

Zhao Ye looked at Bai Mu, then at Xiao Hua, and suddenly blurted out, "Do we need to take off our clothes?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Bai Mu sat down in the bathtub.

Bai Mu looked at Xiao Hua and thanked her politely, "Thank you, sorry for the trouble."

After finishing the preparations, Xiao Hua turned around and saw Zhao Ye looking at her eagerly.

Zhao Ye looked at Xiao Hua and flattered her, "Little Xiao Hua, how can I get superpowers as well?"

Tang Yi and Han Xiu Jie also looked over. Clearly, they were also curious about superpowers.

Xiao Hua thought for a moment and said seriously, "It depends on fate."

She knew what powers these three would awaken in the future, but could she tell them? Of course not.

Sitting in the bathtub, Bai Mu looked up at his teammates with a hint of regret on his face, "I'm sorry, I can't fight alongside everyone."
