Chapter 58: Advancement
by 狡猾天狗Chapter 58: Advancement
After a day and a night, Xiao Hua's condition finally returned to its peak.
Xiao Hua sat cross-legged on the floor, staring at the level four crystal nucleus in her palm, struggling to make a decision.
A level four crystal nucleus was a rare find and extremely suitable for her ice-based powers. If she absorbed it now, she would definitely reach the early stages of level four.
A battle raged between the two sides of her conscience for a while, but eventually, the voice of reason eventually won out, and she decided not to use the level four crystal nucleus.
This was only the second time she had encountered a level four zombie since the apocalypse began. The value of a level four crystal nucleus was incredibly high.
Now that she was living under someone else's protection, she had to think twice before acting.
Even though General Zou had no objections because of Bai Mu, there were still a few other high-ranking officials in the base. Xiao Hua couldn't let General Zou be put in a difficult position.
Just as Xiao Hua was about to give up, noises from outside the villa interrupted her thoughts.
Xiao Zui and five others, along with General Zou, had arrived. Xiao Hua looked at the six people walking in and asked knowingly, "Has the zombie horde retreated?"
"Yes. The high-level zombies have all been killed. The other zombies are either dead or have fled; they're no longer a threat," Xiao Zui explained briefly.
General Zou quickly walked over to Bai Mu, reaching out but encountered a layer of water surrounding him, feeling the icy aura emanating from Bai Mu.
Upon closer inspection, he saw that Bai Mu's face was pale, and his lips, once a healthy pink, now had a faint bluish-purple tint.
Xiao Hua fell silent for a moment, struggling to find the words to explain. "Brother Bai he..."
"I understand," General Zou waved his hand, indicating that he already understood the situation, then straightened up and thanked Xiao Hua, "Thank you."
Seeing the exhaustion and worry on General Zou's face, Xiao Hua pressed her lips together. "I didn't do anything significant."
"Both as the base commander and as an elder, I have to thank you," General Zou said kindly, his eyes gently resting on Bai Mu. "Is he in any immediate danger?"
Xiao Hua quickly calculated in her mind and replied, "Not for now, but considering Brother Bai's condition, I can maintain his icy stasis for no more than five days."
General Zou's fists clenched tightly before slowly relaxing as he tried to remain calm. "I'll think of a solution as soon as possible."
Xiao Hua tapped her index finger on the floor, pondering in silence.
Noticing this, General Zou asked, "What is it? Do you have any ideas?"
"I think we should split into three groups," Xiao Hua said, lifting her gaze and sharing her thoughts. "I want to borrow a level four crystal nucleus and a tier 3 crystal nucleus from you, General, so that Su Mo and I can advance."
"Su Mo is a healing-type enhancer. After her advancement, her healing abilities might improve further. As for my advancement, I'll be able to have more precise control over my powers and extend the time we have."
"Alright," General Zou agreed immediately.
Xiao Hua raised her eyebrows in surprise. Was it really that easy?
"You thought I wouldn't agree?" General Zou saw through her surprise and smiled at Xiao Hua. "Xiao Mu trusts you, so I trust you too."
Not to mention Bai Mu's feelings for Xiao Hua.
Most importantly, Xiao Hua's unreserved rescue of Bai Mu gave him peace of mind.
He even suspected that the two of them were deeply in love, perhaps even ready for marriage.
However, Xiao Hua didn't think that much. She simply assumed that it was because she was considered part of Bai Mu's team, plus her relationship with Xiao Zui, which made General Zou trust her more.
Since they had come to a conclusion, the group now divided into four groups.
Xiao Hua continued to take care of Bai Mu, and took the opportunity to advance to level four.
Su Mo returned to her room, preparing to find a chance to break through to level three.
General Zou went to the researchers in the base, urging them to expedite the vaccine research.
As for the other four, they followed Xiao Hua's previous suggestion to deal with Ji Yang as suggested.
As General Zou walked out of the villa, he heard Ji Yang's screams from inside. Not only did he not stop it, but he also thoughtfully closed the door tightly to prevent any sound from leaking out.
Thinking of the frozen Bai Mu, General Zou's expression instantly turned cold, so gloomy that it felt like rain could fall from his face.
You dare lay a hand on my nephew? Do you think I’m dead?!
He glanced back at the villa one last time before turning and leaving. The top priority now was to find a way to save him.
Ji Yang, you're on your own now.
A day later, Xiao Hua successfully advanced, becoming a level four powers.
Her control over water grew stronger, and she could now start to manipulate the moisture within the human body.
Xiao Hua’s powers were no longer focused on attack but had evolved into fine-tuned control.
Xiao Hua froze Bai Mu again, this time only stopping the spread of the zombie virus and minimizing the damage to his body.
Three days later, Su Mo finally reached level three, unlocking her healing powers, which could now cure the zombie virus.
Xiao Hua finally felt a small sense of relief.
There was finally hope for saving Bai Mu.
