Xiao Hua was slacking off in a corner, and for some reason, no one came to disturb her. Compared to the hustle and bustle elsewhere, it was quite quiet where she was.

It wasn’t until music started playing in the hall and men and women began inviting each other into the dance hall that someone finally approached her.

However, after Xiao Hua rejected three handsome guys in a row, no one bothered to come back.

Sitting on the couch alone, Xiao Hua enjoyed the sight of handsome men and beautiful women dancing.

Just as she was appreciating the scene, Bai Mu walked over and sat down next to her, seemingly unchanged from before.

Xiao Hua turned her head to greet him, “Brother Bai, aren’t you going to dance?”

Bai Mu looked at Xiao Hua, a faint smile on his lips. “I’m still injured and don’t really feel like moving. How about you?”

Xiao Hua blinked and leaned back. “I’m too lazy to get up.”

“Not even when several handsome guys invited you?”

“I don’t have those worldly desires,” Xiao Hua leaned on the couch, smiling. “Handsome guys are nice to look at.”

Bai Mu, recalling Xiao Hua’s previous words, asked, “Weren’t you saying you wanted some romantic prospects?”

“Brother Bai, don’t make fun of me. I was just saying that for fun.”

“Really?” Bai Mu pressed on.

“To be honest, I don’t want it that much. I just have those intermittent desires to be in a relationship but consistently prefer being single,” Xiao Hua felt the conversation was getting awkward and quickly changed the subject. “By the way, what’s next on the agenda?”

“This time, we used a level four crystal nucleus, and they said it’d be best if we could contribute something to the base,” Bai Mu emphasized the word “best.”

Xiao Hua tilted her head and smiled, guessing. “For example, bringing back another level four crystal nucleus?”

Bai Mu shook his head slightly. “Mainly, we need to go to Base A, deliver the required crude oil, and bring back the necessary equipment for the base. I have space, and your skills are strong enough, so it’s perfect for this kind of bodyguard work.”

“When are we going?”

“Sometime later, when everything is prepared on their end.”

Xiao Hua nodded, still sipping her drink. “Got it.”

Overall, the party went smoothly, without any of the dramatic scenes Xiao Hua had imagined.

As the party ended, Su Mo and Xiao Zui appeared together, with a clear romantic vibe between them.

Su Mo came close and hugged Xiao Hua’s arm, walking together with her.

Xiao Hua’s eyes swept over Su Mo’s lips and noticed no traces of a kiss. Upon closer inspection, her dress was slightly disheveled.

Feeling uncomfortable under Xiao Hua’s gaze, Su Mo looked up and asked, “Xiao Hua, why are you staring at me?”

Xiao Hua glanced at Xiao Zui with a meaningful expression. “What do you think?”

Su Mo’s face turned red, and she quickly pulled Xiao Hua back to the villa, her high heels barely touching the ground.

Xiao Hua allowed Su Mo to pull her back to the villa and straight into her bedroom.

Xiao Hua leaned against the wall, a faint smile playing on her lips, her eyes half-smiling, half-mocking as she looked at Su Mo, waiting for the latest scoop from the main event.

Su Mo shut the bedroom door behind her and spun around, only to find Xiao Hua standing there. After several deep breaths, she finally confessed, "Xiao Zui confessed to me."

Xiao Hua: "Hmm, and then what?"

Su Mo: "..."

Su Mo: "That's it? That's all you have to say?"

Xiao Hua looked down at Su Mo, her voice lazy, "I guessed as much, not surprised. So, did you agree?"

Given how things went down tonight, anyone who didn't notice would be clueless. But she was more interested in how Su Mo felt about it.

Su Mo: "I rejected him."

This time it was Xiao Hua's turn to be speechless.

Xiao Hua wondered if she had misheard and couldn't help but repeat it, "You rejected him? You're not interested in Xiao Zui?"

This is supposed to be a sweet, lighthearted romance—does the heroine ever reject the hero in these stories?

Su Mo twisted the hem of her dress between her fingers and explained, "I have feelings for him, but I think it's more important to improve my strength right now. Relationships can wait."

Xiao Hua was speechless once again.

This sounded so familiar—like something she'd heard before.

Before Xiao Hua could respond, Su Mo, curious, added, "Isn't that what you think too? Zhao Ye told me you feel the same way."

But that's not the same for me!

Xiao Hua's feelings were complicated—had she inadvertently become an obstacle in the main couple's love story?

However, matters of the heart were not for her to interfere with, and Xiao Hua wasn't that altruistic. After a few more exchanges, she stopped asking and simply bid Su Mo goodnight before leaving.
