Chapter 12: Powers (Part 1)
by 狡猾天狗Chapter 12: Powers (Part 1)
Bai Mu opened his eyes to find himself lying on a bed, his clothes completely dry, as though it were all just a dream.
If it weren't for his newly awakened powers.
Bai Mu sat up with a flip, startling the person dozing on the sofa.
Xiao Hua shot up from the sofa, her body tense and alert.
Seeing Bai Mu, Xiao Hua immediately lay back down, yawning as she said, "I’ve got some food in my bag. If you're hungry, help yourself, Bai. I'm going to sleep for a bit longer."
Bai Mu froze, speechless, and before he could respond, he heard Xiao Hua's long, steady breathing.
Bai Mu: "……"
Bai Mu quietly got out of bed and picked up his phone to check the time.
April 3rd, 3:09.
Bai Mu’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly glanced at Xiao Hua, who was fast asleep on the couch.
The girl was curled up on the couch, covered with a thin jacket, her hair disheveled behind her head, looking exhausted, the dark circles under her pale skin increasingly obvious.
Bai Mu remembered that while he was unconscious, a cool sensation occasionally flowed through his body, easing his fever and restlessness.
Clearly, Xiao Hua had been using her powers to help him repeatedly.
Xiao Hua had stayed by his side for a day and a night.
Bai Mu crouched down and watched Xiao Hua for a moment, then grabbed a thin blanket and covered her. He then quietly left the room.
……
A few hours later, Xiao Hua slowly made her way to the bathroom to wash up.
As she washed up, Xiao Hua couldn't help but reflect on how she had gained new insights into using her powers through helping Bai Mu, and her powers had even strengthened a bit.
This kind of "good thing"…… better not happen again.
There was no other reason; the process was simply too torturous.
Bai Mu's temperature rose and fell, repeatedly. There were even signs of a viral invasion.
Xiao Hua's limited powers weren't enough, and she was on the verge of exhaustion. She had no choice but to tearfully absorb two crystal nuclei, two of them!
The key issue was that she had to absorb them while using her powers, and the sensation of her powers surging back and forth in her body was truly "wonderful." Xiao Hua even felt like a tattered rag.
Inside, she thought, it was supposed to be easy for the main characters to awaken their powers, but Bai Mu's situation…
She reasonably suspected that in the original plot, Bai Mu hadn't made it through this awakening phase and had gone offline.
After washing up, Xiao Hua slowly made her way downstairs.
After a few steps, she saw Bai Mu carrying a bowl from the kitchen.
Bai Mu placed the bowl on the dining table, stood up straight, his tall, graceful figure exuding a gentle and peaceful aura. His starry eyes held a gentle smile as he looked at Xiao Hua.
"Good morning, Xiao Hua. Thanks for taking care of me. I've cooked some noodles. Would you like to join me?"
Xiao Hua: "Come!"
Occasionally helping out isn’t bad, though.
Xiao Hua walked to the dining table and saw two large bowls of noodles.
The top was covered with slices of ham. Stirring with her chopsticks, she revealed golden noodles that emitted an enticing aroma.
Xiao Hua sat down and happily dug in.
As they ate, Bai Mu said, "I've contacted Xiao Zui. They’re near the C University’s sports center now. A helicopter will pick us up at ten."
"Okay."
After informing her, Bai Mu left her alone and quietly ate his noodles.
Once they finished, Xiao Hua got up, carried the bowls to the kitchen, and washed and dried them in one fluid motion.
Bai Mu helped by holding the bowls and reminded her, "Xiao Hua, did you forget something?"
Xiao Hua turned and stared at Bai Mu’s face.
A few seconds later, she suddenly realized, "Thanks, Brother Bai, the noodles were delicious."
Bai Mu: "..."
"What’s wrong?" Xiao Hua looked confused.
She had already complimented the noodles, so why was Bai Mu still looking at her?
Bai Mu looked helpless. "My powers have awakened. Aren’t you curious?"
"Not curious," Xiao Hua answered straightforwardly.
In this world, the type and level of powers are private information for power holders. Xiao Hua didn’t like prying into others’ privacy.
Bai Mu: "..."
