Chapter 234
by 狡猾天狗Chapter 234
If it were me, would you do the same?
Xiao Hua pondered for a few seconds and then fell silent, "No."
She couldn't bring herself to.
Bai Mu's eyes lit up with a smile, clearly satisfied with the answer. He couldn't help but hold the hand of the person beside him, his voice laced with amusement, "I wouldn't either."
Xiao Hua tilted her head to look at him, pursed her lips and smiled softly.
Within the ice prison, Lin Feng's body trembled incessantly, his exposed skin shifting between green and white, with dark and eerie patterns occasionally climbing up his face, as if he might turn into a zombie any second.
Thankfully, his willpower held firm, and he didn't continuously attack the ice prison. Unless the pain became unbearable, most of the time he sat there, enduring it alone.
Of course, when he couldn't hold back and erupted, the destructive power was indeed astonishing. A single swipe of his claw could gouge deep into wood. Fortunately, the ice prison had been reinforced several layers, otherwise Luo Ning's metal defenses wouldn't have held.
If it weren't for the fact that Xiao Hua and Luo Ning's powers were also adept at defense, a direct confrontation with Lin Feng would have been disastrous.
Time ticked by, Lin Feng's attacks grew weaker, and his skin color became paler, shedding the grayish hue unique to zombies, gradually returning to a human hue.
The sun gradually set, and the moon climbed into the sky. The eerie howls of zombies echoed outside the small Western-style building. Tang Yi and Han Xiu Jie went outside to keep watch.
Xiao Hua flopped onto the sofa, crossing her legs and leisurely observing the current situation. She was confident that success was within reach, and it was only a matter of time before Lin Feng fully turned back into a human.
She stifled a yawn, leaning her head on Bai Mu's shoulder, and closed her eyes for a short nap.
After an unknown amount of time, Xiao Hua felt someone gently push her shoulder. She groggily opened her eyes, her tone muddled, "Is it over?"
"Yes," Bai Mu looked down at her, speaking helplessly, "It's getting late. Do you want to eat something before sleeping?"
Xiao Hua lifted her sleepy eyelids, saw Lin Feng who had fully returned to human form, and finally relaxed. Her eyes fluttered shut again, and she buried her head in Bai Mu's chest.
"No, I'm sleepy."
The mountain air was thick with night dew, and the small Western-style building had its windows slightly open for ventilation. To an ordinary person, it would have been chilly, but to Xiao Hua, the mountain breeze felt truly delightful, making her even sleepier.
With Bai Mu beside her, she felt an inexplicable sense of calm and simply fell asleep again, her breathing gradually becoming long and steady.
Bai Mu gazed at her for a moment, then sighed in resignation, and picked her up in a princess carry, heading towards another room, his tone indifferent, "We won't eat. You all can do as you please."
Zhao Ye: "???"
Zhao Ye glanced around, then down at the backpack he held, pulling out a few bags of bread and biscuits, his face a picture of dismay as he sighed, "Without Brother Bai, is this all we can eat?"
Ignoring him, Bai Mu continued on his way, and carried the person in his arms to another room. He laid her gently on the bed and tucked her in, then lightly kissed her forehead.
"Sleep."
Half-asleep, Xiao Hua tugged at the blanket, barely registering Bai Mu's movements, and let him be, too lazy to even open her eyes.
Perhaps it was because she had been constantly worried about Dr. Cao before. After all, she knew of Dr. Cao's future actions, and not killing him always left her uneasy. Plus, being out in the open, Xiao Hua had remained highly vigilant from start to finish, so her sleep time naturally wasn't sufficient.
Now that the major event was over, she was completely relaxed, not wanting to think about anything, just wanting to sleep for what felt like an eternity, and deal with comfort later.
And so she slept for two whole days. What finally roused her? Hunger.
