In a blink, Xiao Hua saw that Dr. Cao had already vanished without a trace.

She raised her foot to chase but lowered it, deciding against pursuing.

The twin brothers were both late-stage level three enhanced individuals, and their powers were strangely eerie; this required a long-term plan.

Xiao Hua and Bai Mu appeared and glanced at the unfortunate soul left in the lab.

"Hey, are you still sane?"

Hearing Xiao Hua's voice, the man suddenly looked up at the two who had appeared out of nowhere.

He tilted his head and remained motionless, staring at Xiao Hua and the other for several seconds before opening his mouth wide, uttering a raspy, grating noise, "Did... you save me?"

Xiao Hua nodded slightly, her eyes calm as she looked at the man and asked, "We can get you out of here. Want to come along?"

The man’s thoughts were sluggish; after a moment, he slowly nodded, "Yes."

"Alright." Xiao Hua smiled slightly and turned to look at Bai Mu with raised eyebrows.

Bai Mu walked over, grabbing the man with his right hand while still holding Xiao Hua with his left, and they all vanished together.

Dr. Cao and his group had been in such a hurry that they broke through the main door to escape, which conveniently helped Xiao Hua and the others.

Otherwise, just getting past facial recognition would have taken a while.

The previous commotion had already alerted the guards who were now arriving. Xiao Hua took one last look at the lab and noticed that one researcher was missing.

It must have been one of the twins who barged in. Xiao Hua closed her eyes, regretting not being more cautious earlier.

Bai Mu skillfully guided them past the guards, all the way back to the inn.

On the second floor of the inn, Bai Mu revealed himself in his room, startling Xiao Zui who was in the same dormitory.

It wasn’t just their sudden appearance, but also because they had brought back a zombie.

Thinking about the recent commotion outside, Xiao Zui rubbed his temples. These two sure know how to stir up trouble.

He looked at them, "What happened?"

"Nothing much, just saved someone." Bai Mu said casually.

Xiao Zui: "..."

Xiao Zui slightly tilted his head to look at the man on Bai Mu's right, *you're telling me this is a person?!*

Xiao Hua turned to look at the man and asked, "Can you hold on?"

The man tried hard to endure but ultimately shook his head.

"Oh." Xiao Hua looked at the man with a flat tone, "I’ll freeze you for now. Once we’re out of this hellhole, my team will treat you, okay?"

The man was stunned, and even the unbearable pain tearing through his body seemed to ease.

Xiao Hua saw that he didn't respond and patiently repeated, "Can you do it?"

The man nodded in agreement. He actually didn't know if what Xiao Hua said was true or false, but undeniably, this was his last lifeline.

He had no choice but to trust her.

With his consent, Xiao Hua didn't delay any further and immediately activated her powers, channeling them into the man's body, completely encasing him in ice.

When she had frozen Bai Mu before, Xiao Hua had only applied a thin layer of ice. This time, however, the ice was noticeably thicker.

The man stood rigidly, resembling a statue.

Xiao Hua then turned to look at Bai Mu, a smile curling her lips, "Brother Bai, looks like you'll have a long night ahead."

Bai Mu glanced at his wristwatch and chuckled, "It's already past 4 AM, only a little more than three hours until dawn."

Xiao Hua raised her hand to cover her mouth and yawned, "Guess I'll head back to rest for a bit."

"I'll walk you back," Bai Mu offered.

Xiao Hua paused, refusing, "No need, really..."

It's just a short distance, no need for all this sending back and forth.

Bai Mu grabbed Xiao Hua's arm, his tone brooking no argument, "Better safe than sorry."

Xiao Hua blinked. You're right.

If she walked back so openly at this hour, what if someone saw her and got suspicious?
