Chapter 89: Cause of the Frenzy (Part 2)
by 狡猾天狗Chapter 89: Cause of the Frenzy (Part 2)
Since it was still midnight and dawn had not yet broken, setting out immediately would increase the likelihood of encountering zombies and mutated animals, adding to the reconnaissance difficulty.
After some discussion, the group agreed to stick to their original plan. In the second half of the night, Xiao Hua and three others would take over the resting shift in the tent, while Xiao Zui and his group continued to stand watch.
All action would be postponed until after dawn.
As for the captured pig, Xiao Hua, seeing how it had shrunk into a quail in front of Bai Mu, simply tossed it over to Bai Mu.
After getting rid of the burden, Xiao Hua felt relieved and carefree, and soon fell asleep in the tent.
The next day, at the first light of dawn, all nine were awake and ready to go.
Xiao Hua looked at Kong Yu and Luo Ning, who were also packing up, and reminded them, “You’re not part of our team, so you have the right to refuse this mission.”
Kong Yu remained silent, waiting for Luo Ning’s response.
Luo Ning smiled indifferently, a hint of self-mockery in her expression. “We have nowhere else to go anyway, as long as you don’t mind us.”
With that said, Xiao Hua didn’t say anything more and looked at Bai Mu, who nodded, indicating they could decide for themselves.
Once the sun had climbed above the horizon, the nine were finally ready to set out.
Bai Mu, holding the little pig from the night before, waited for its guidance to lead everyone toward their target.
Xiao Hua had to bite her lip to keep from laughing out loud. Bai Mu was incredibly calm.
The classic "If I’m not embarrassed, then it’s everyone else’s problem" seemed to be his motto.
Though he was holding a black, muddy little pig, completely at odds with his usual style, Bai Mu’s expression was leisurely and natural, which made the others feel a bit self-conscious.
No wonder he’s the boss.
The little pig was quite diligent, sniffing around here and there, constantly judging the direction to guide everyone forward.
Walking next to Bai Mu, Xiao Hua’s hands started itching as she looked at the piglet. She gently tugged on Bai Mu’s sleeve.
“Brother Bai.”
Bai Mu turned his head towards her, “What’s up?”
Xiao Hua admitted to herself that she was starting to come around, pointing to the pig. “Let me hold it.”
Bai Mu was slightly surprised, then chuckled and handed the little pig over to Xiao Hua.
Xiao Hua carefully took the pig in her arms, feeling its soft, warm skin. She maintained a semblance of restraint for a couple of seconds before completely letting go and rubbing it vigorously.
The little pig put up a brief struggle before surrendering, lying in Xiao Hua’s arms, humming contentedly as it enjoyed her affection.
Seeing Xiao Hua’s eagerness, Bai Mu understood. “Like cute animals?”
“Mm.” Xiao Hua continued petting the little pig, giving it a good rub, and took a moment to answer Bai Mu. “I like cute people as well.”
Bai Mu’s heart fluttered. He definitely wasn’t the type.
Xiao Zui, walking behind the two, also heard Xiao Hua’s words and gave Bai Mu a sympathetic look, thinking it was all over.
But they were still brothers, and Xiao Zui hoped more that Bai Mu could be with Xiao Hua.
So he asked Xiao Hua one more question: "Are you looking for this type of guy? What's so good about pretty boys?"
When did she decide to look for a boyfriend?
Xiao Hua glanced back at Xiao Zui, her eyes filled with confusion, "How can cute guys be considered pretty boys? They just naturally look like this."
Zhao Ye felt the same way and raised both hands in agreement, "Exactly!"
Han Xiu Jie was startled and quickly pulled Zhao Ye’s hand down.
Xiao Hua shot a glance at Zhao Ye and sneered, "A person who is usually more bandit-like than bandits should shut up."
Zhao Ye: "..."
"I just have a preference for cute things; it doesn't mean I have to date someone like that."
Xiao Hua turned her head back to continue petting the pig, and the thought of dating made her frown, "Dating is too troublesome, better to fight zombies."
Xiao Zui: "..."
Bai Mu: "..."
Su Mo: "Xiao Hua, you might end up alone forever."
Hearing this, Xiao Hua didn’t argue but instead smiled brightly, "Thanks for the blessing."
