Chapter 186: Dongguan Village (Part Two)
by 狡猾天狗Chapter 186: Dongguan Village (Part Two)
Xiao Hua raised her hand above her head, her palm upturned as an icy blue light burst forth from it. The light shot into the sky, connecting with the heavens and forming a strange, miraculous spectacle.
As the light slowly dissipated, the temperature at the scene suddenly dropped by a large margin, and huge flakes of snow began falling from the sky, covering every corner of the village.
The snowflakes seemed harmless, but each snowflake that landed on the zombies quickly transformed into sharp, slender ice spikes, piercing their skin.
The snow fell faster, and more and more ice spikes appeared, relentlessly attacking the zombies. The zombies were too slow to dodge and were all pierced through the backs of their heads, collapsing in a heap.
A large number of level one and two undead were killed. In the blink of an eye, there were no zombies left in the village.
The snow continued to fall, becoming heavier, turning into large goose feather-like flakes. It blew in through the open windows and into the interiors.
All of a sudden, a zombie burst out from the house that Gao Cong had pointed to, darting toward the village entrance.
Xiao Hua moved her finger slightly, pointing in the direction the zombie was running.
The heavy snow suddenly shifted direction, converging at that spot to form a mini blizzard.
The blizzard raged, sweeping the fleeing zombie into its vortex, and in just a few breaths, it was completely torn apart.
Xiao Hua caught the crystal core that flew toward her and glanced back at Guo Bufan, who was shaking in his boots. She asked expressionlessly, "Is this enough now?"
Guo Bufan fell to the ground, his eyes filled with terror.
Gao Cong quickly pulled Guo Bufan up, nodding repeatedly at Xiao Hua with deference. "Yes, yes, that's more than enough now."
Xiao Hua smiled, her tone almost gentle. "Then let's hurry up and go."
Gao Cong was startled and immediately stood at attention, his voice loud and clear. "Yes!"
Xiao Hua blinked.
After this display, Gao Cong became even more respectful toward them, and Guo Bufan finally stopped acting like a clown, allowing things to slowly return to normal.
Gao Cong went to retrieve the knives from Old Wang's house and then led Xiao Hua and the others back to the village committee villa.
Three people came out of the villa: two middle-aged women and an old man around sixty years of age.
They had witnessed Xiao Hua's blizzard and now walked out trembling, their expressions filled with fear and trepidation.
It was likely that if Xiao Hua glared at them, they would drop to their knees the next second.
"Uncle Wang, Aunt Wang, Aunt Li," Gao Cong quickly walked over to the three and relayed Bai Mu's request.
"Oh, yes, yes, no problem," the man called "Uncle Wang" said obsequiously to Xiao Hua and Bai Mu, both flattering and trying to keep a distance.
Xiao Hua glanced at them, not particularly concerned.
As agreed, Gao Cong and the other five slaughtered the cows and sheep, cleaned them thoroughly, and began to salt and preserve part of the meat.
The entire Sharp Blade team stayed in the village temporarily, with Xiao Hua providing ample water and Bai Mu supplying a moderate amount of salt.
According to Gao Cong, Uncle Wang had done this kind of work before, so they were quite skilled at it.
It took a full seven days, but Gao Cong and the others finally finished processing all the meat.
Once the salted beef and mutton were ready, Bai Mu could store them in his spatial item and then lead his teammates away from there.
That evening.
Guo Bufan slowly took out the cured beef and mutton and placed them neatly on the table, piece by piece.
He stared at the large chunks of meat and swallowed hard.
"F*ck." Guo Bufan wiped his mouth with his hand and couldn't help but lick his lips twice. His gaze shifted to the others in the room. "Should we take more?"
Gao Cong furrowed his brow and immediately refused. "We agreed to take only three. We have to keep our word."
"To hell with that promise!" Guo Bufan's eyes were bloodshot as he stared at Gao Cong without blinking. "In this world, can trust put food on the table?"
The others exchanged glances, clearly tempted.
Gao Cong fell silent, a sense of powerlessness washing over him. After a moment, he continued, "Those people are extremely dangerous. If we get caught, we're all doomed."
The thought of Xiao Hua's strength sent a shudder down Guo Bufan's spine.
Gao Cong breathed a slight sigh of relief, planning to persuade his brother against pushing their luck, when he heard Uncle Wang's gravelly voice.
"Just take a little; they won't notice."
The others froze and turned their eyes to Uncle Wang.
Gao Cong looked at him in disbelief. "Uncle Wang?!"
Uncle Wang avoided his gaze and looked down at the neatly arranged meat, poking it with his index finger. "Just shave a bit off each piece, and we'll have enough to last us a long time."
"Exactly!" Guo Bufan's eyes suddenly lit up, and he immediately grabbed a kitchen knife, his eyes greedily fixed on the meat.
Gao Cong stepped forward to stop him but was violently pushed aside.
He stumbled backward, taking several steps until he grabbed a chair to steady himself.
Gao Cong looked at the five people gathered together and suddenly felt out of place, his expression growing increasingly dejected as he headed for the door.
Gao Cong felt a sense of confusion. In this apocalyptic world, should he abandon his own principles?
As he pushed the door open and saw the scenery outside, his expression suddenly stiffened.
