Chapter 221
by 狡猾天狗Chapter 221
The two of them successfully brought Ding Ziang back to the small Western-style house. When they pushed the door open, Ding Xiaoying had already regained consciousness, and Lin Feng was quietly feeding her.
Xiao Hua halted, gave Ding Ziang a pat on the back of the head, and urged, "Go on."
As soon as the words fell, she saw a blur of movement flash past her eyes. In the next second, the person who had just been beside her had already pounced onto Ding Xiaoying, sobbing and crying.
"Sister..."
Ding Ziang was crying like a little kitten again, his behavior now truly that of a child, no longer guarded and wary.
Ding Xiaoying, who had been imprisoned for several days, was equally emotional upon seeing her family. Tears streamed down her face as she embraced her brother, the two of them crying together.
Xiao Hua's hand paused in mid-air, not immediately lowering it. Her gaze was fixed ahead, her eyes slightly unfocused.
Bai Mu stepped closer, gently taking her hand, and asked softly, "What's up?"
Xiao Hua moved her fingers, pulling Bai Mu closer and turning his face to face the Ding siblings. "Tell me, is that kid a speed-powered individual?"
Bai Mu glanced briefly before turning back to face Xiao Hua, nodding slightly, "Probably."
Xiao Hua couldn't help but frown upon hearing this. "But how come I didn't notice? That shouldn't be the case."
"Perhaps he's still feverish, and his powers have just awakened. It's not easy to detect."
"Possibly." Xiao Hua nodded, not dwelling on the matter.
As the crying continued over there, Xiao Hua finally felt relieved that the task was done. She and Bai Mu found a corner to sit down.
Before they could even settle in, Su Mo came running over, her eyes sparkling as she stared at Xiao Hua.
"What's up?" Xiao Hua abruptly stopped herself from leaning on Bai Mu's shoulder and sat up straight, lifting her eyelids to look at Su Mo.
Su Mo flopped down beside her, hugging Xiao Hua's arm, and asked with a grin, "So, Xiao Hua, is that big bad Dr. Cao dead?"
Hearing this, Xiao Hua couldn't help but recall the earlier scene. She felt frustrated by Dr. Cao's luck and replied with a heavy heart, "No."
"So he just got away scot-free?"
"Not quite. We did cripple both his legs, though." Xiao Hua tutted twice, then added casually, "And his third leg's probably out of commission too."
Su Mo tilted her head, pondering for a moment before understanding the implication.
Three seconds later, her face turned beet red. Too embarrassed to look at Xiao Hua, she blurted out, "How could you..."
Xiao Hua raised an eyebrow, completely unfazed, as if she hadn't just dropped that bombshell.
Su Mo held her breath, ultimately unable to match Xiao Hua's shamelessness, and closed her mouth without saying anything.
Xiao Hua chuckled, giving Su Mo a playful pat on the back of the neck. She stopped teasing her, her tone turning serious, "Honestly, I'm still torn between waiting for the next opportunity or finishing him off while he's vulnerable."
After all, with Dr. Cao in his current state, he couldn't have gotten far. He must still be in the city, maybe in the remote mountains or downtown, but definitely close by.
So she wasn't about to let him off the hook.
The longer this drags on, the more Dr. Cao can manipulate people, and his human experiments get even more out of control. It's better to handle him sooner rather than later.
Xiao Hua made her decision and quickly shared her thoughts with Bai Mu. Then, with a twinkle in her peach blossom eyes, she asked, "So, what do you think? Does this plan make sense?"
"Of course it's reasonable." As long as it doesn't concern Xiao Hua herself, Bai Mu has no objections, and this time was no exception as he supported her without hesitation.
He lowered his eyes in thought, then raised them, focusing on a specific spot, and smiled slightly. "We’ve got a hostage handy, so let’s question him first."
Xiao Hua followed his gaze and saw Zhang Ren in another corner.
Zhang Ren had been dozing off, but hearing his name, he instantly perked up. He looked up to see everyone staring at him.
He couldn't help but shiver, feeling like a sitting duck, with no way to escape.
