Chapter 9: Reunion (Part 2)
byChapter 9: Reunion (Part 2)
Xiao Hua noticed that Xiao Zui was still somewhat unaccustomed, and her attitude was a bit distant.
She kept her expression calm, trying her best not to reveal anything, and said, "Brother, this is my classmate Su Mo. She has no family, so I brought her along."
Xiao Zui nodded to acknowledge and greeted Su Mo calmly, "Hello, I'm Xiao Hua's brother."
Su Mo quickly nodded in response, "Y-you... Hello, I... I'm Xiao Hua's classmate."
Seeing how nervous Su Mo was, on the verge of being scared to tears, Xiao Hua felt a bit annoyed with Xiao Zui. "Are you not welcoming us? Why do you look so unhappy?"
Xiao Zui was taken aback and turned to his teammates, asking in confusion, "Is my face really that grumpy?"
Zhao Ye looked at Xiao Hua, then at Su Mo, and finally back at Xiao Zui, nodding vigorously.
"It wasn’t just a grumpy face." Zhao Ye remembered how, when he first joined the team, he had been terrified of Xiao Zui's deathly expression. Even now, he occasionally felt nervous around him.
Xiao Zui: "..."
Xiao Hua glanced at the others and realized they must be the protagonist’s teammates.
Knowing that they had never met the original owner, Xiao Hua handled the situation with ease. "Hello, I'm Xiao Hua, and this is my classmate Su Mo."
"Hello, little sisters!" A man with a baby face smiled brightly, though he was holding a gun and dressed in military attire, creating a somewhat jarring contrast.
"I'm Zhao Ye. The bear-like one is Tang Yi, the four-eyed one is Han Xiu Jie, and the smiling tiger is our deputy leader, Bai Mu."
Xiao Hua: "..."
Though his description was vivid and accurate, how was she supposed to reply?
Seeing Zhao Ye getting all informal, Bai Mu quickly descended the stairs, stood before Xiao Hua, and extended his hand with a smile. "Hello, I'm Bai Mu, Xiao Zui's teammate."
Xiao Hua looked up at Bai Mu.
The man was tall and slender, exuding a gentle and refined demeanor. His features were deep and delicate, his nose high and straight, his facial contours distinct yet not harsh, with a smile lingering at the corners of his mouth.
His military-standard buzz cut lacked aggression; instead, it felt refreshing. He truly was a gentleman like jade, standing gracefully like an orchid and a tree, smiling like a clear breeze and a bright moon.
There was no denying that Bai Mu’s appearance and temperament were exceptional, and even compared to the protagonist Xiao Zui, he held his own.
Compared to Xiao Zui’s sharpness and domineering presence, Xiao Hua appreciated Bai Mu’s gentle and refined nature more.
However, Xiao Hua was certain that there was no character named Bai Mu in the original story.
Despite her mind racing, Xiao Hua maintained a calm and composed exterior. She shook Bai Mu’s hand in return, saying, "Hello, Brother Bai. I’m Xiao Hua."
The seven of them went back upstairs.
Xiao Hua set down her backpack and asked in surprise, "Brother, why did you return so quickly? I thought it would take a few more days."
As she spoke, Xiao Hua seemed to sense something and looked at Xiao Zui thoughtfully. "Have you developed superpowers? Did you turn into a bird and fly back?"
Xiao Zui: "..."
His sister sure knows how to joke.
"What’s on your mind?" Xiao Zui was somewhat impressed by Xiao Hua’s creative mind. He looked at Bai Mu and the other three, "We came back by helicopter, and my superpower is lightning."
As soon as the words left his mouth, electric currents buzzed from Xiao Zui’s right hand, emitting a blue-purple glow.
Xiao Hua naturally knew that Xiao Zui had awakened his lightning powers, but she couldn’t just say it directly.
Besides, Xiao Zui was originally scheduled to arrive in C City on the third day, but he returned much sooner. Xiao Hua was genuinely curious about the reason behind this.
Xiao Zui went on to explain, "After getting the message, I planned to return alone to find you, but Old Bai helped me secure a helicopter. We also took on a temporary mission assigned by our superiors."
Noticing that his teammates had no objections, Xiao Zui briefly explained, "We need to rescue Professor Tan Pingshan and his research team. We’re setting out soon."
Xiao Hua’s gaze landed on Bai Mu, and she frowned, "You’re all going?"
Xiao Zui nodded in agreement.
Xiao Hua pointed to Bai Mu, "But he’s still running a high fever. Shouldn’t he be resting?"
