Chapter 199 A Terrifying Figure
by 猫狸Chapter 199: The Terrifying Figure
Though the furnishings of the Fog Shop remained largely unchanged—the merchandise on the shelves and even the sofa still in their original spots—the moment the lights dimmed, a power previously concealed by Su Bai and Xiao Wu surged back, suffusing the entire shop.
A force, sharing the same origin as the red moon yet devoid of its chilling quality, swept through. The display cabinets, housing various special items, also pulsed with distinct energy fluctuations.
The Fog City Lord immediately sensed something amiss with the shop, but the door had already closed behind him. The shop's floor-to-ceiling windows were shrouded in thick fog, obscuring any view of what was happening outside or what the shop had done.
Ironically, despite the Fog City Lord's true form being the very essence of fog, he couldn't penetrate the dense mist outside the shop windows. He reached out to push the door, which was right in front of him, but as his hand neared the seemingly ordinary wooden door, the distance between them instantly widened, as if someone were preventing his departure.
"This isn't right, you…"
The Fog City Lord turned to look in Su Bai’s direction, only to be met with an unexpected sight.
Though "Owner Bai" stood before the shop counter, a child’s figure slowly materialized behind him. It was a child with crimson eyes, who, appearing from nowhere, now sat on the counter behind Owner Bai, reaching out to cover his eyes.
Yes, the child’s hands were covering Owner Bai’s eyes.
Then, a figure equally terrifying to the Fog City Lord gradually took form behind them.
"How… is this possible…" The Fog City Lord stammered, forcing the words out through his throat, staring in disbelief at the figure that shouldn’t—and couldn’t—have appeared here.

Su Bai was equally unaware of what was happening. Unlike his previous fainting spell at the Luolimasi Hotel, he didn't lose consciousness this time. Instead, he clearly felt a pair of small, cold yet soft hands covering his eyes. The next second, his vision plunged into darkness—even Qing Lan’s eyes couldn't pierce this gloom.
Then, Su Bai sensed a terrifying power emerging behind him.
The Fog Shop wasn't large. Although it was filled with power sharing the same origin as the red moon, Su Bai could sense the Fog City Lord’s presence and knew he was standing in front of him. In contrast, Xiao Wu, who was covering his eyes from behind, radiated no detectable energy, as if the shop assistant had merged entirely with the Fog Shop.
So Su Bai was certain that the power emerging behind him was unfamiliar… yet vaguely familiar in some way. It was a force so immense that it could evoke sheer terror in both humans and ghosts!
For some reason, Su Bai could feel the fear emanating from this power.
The moment that power appeared, Su Bai felt Qing Lan quietly retreat from his body. Her power vanished from him as well, as though she had sensed the other’s arrival and chosen to return to the Evil Ghost Puzzle on her own.
If Su Bai could turn around to look, he would have seen Xiao Wu, who was covering his eyes, expressionless, with vacant, unfocused eyes. Compared to the Xiao Wu who had interacted with him before, this version seemed like a mere doll devoid of soul and consciousness.
But Su Bai couldn’t turn around. He could barely even move a finger. From the moment his eyes were covered, the connection between his consciousness and his body seemed severed. He couldn’t see or move, left to depend only on his ears to perceive everything happening around him.
"You, how… how could you be here?"
The voice of the Fog City Lord, laced with disbelief, reached his ears.
