Chapter 64: Running the Yu Hong Class is Not My Ultimate Goal
by 黎家七七Chapter 64: Running the Yu Hong Class is Not My Ultimate Goal
Su Taotao's house is the first house in the first row.
Residents living in this row would pass by Su Taotao's door whenever they came and went.
Dressed in a white dress, Su Taotao looked as beautiful as a fairy. She sat at the door with a smiling face, and residents passing by couldn't help but notice her.
There was only one woman on the island who was as fair and beautiful as she was. Everyone could easily match her appearance to the real person upon seeing her.
Some also marveled at how an unromantic iceberg like Fu Gong could marry such a beautiful wife. Being handsome definitely had its perks.
Su Taotao didn't have the habit of greeting strangers. Unless they were her husband or child, her gaze wouldn't linger.
She expected Fu Yuanhang to return earlier than Fu Zhengtu and Chenchen.
Before long, she saw a tall, broad-shouldered man carrying a child in one arm appearing at the stairwell from afar.
Su Taotao instantly recognized her husband and son.
Su Taotao stood up and waved at them: "Chenchen…"
Hearing his mom’s call, Fu Haochen lifted his head, holding his small hat in place.
Seeing his mother waiting for him at the door, he was so happy that he squinted his big eyes and wriggled with excitement: "Mom~~"
Fu Zhengtu patted his little butt: "Don't move around, it's dangerous on the stairs."
Chenchen quieted down and kept his big eyes on his mother.
Fu Zhengtu followed his gaze upwards and saw a woman smiling like a flower, holding one side of her skirt as she walked down like a nimble butterfly to his side, taking the child from his arms, and giving him a kiss on each cheek:
"Was Chenchen good today? Did you miss Mom?"
Chenchen was so happy that he hugged his mother's neck and rubbed against her: "Good~~ Missed you~~"
Fu Zhengtu took the child back into his arms: "I'll carry him."
Su Taotao held her skirt and walked alongside him: "Why are you back so early? I thought it would be later. Xiao Hang hasn't arrived home yet. I wonder if I should go and pick him up."
Fu Zhengtu shook his head: "No need."
A Fu family kid isn’t that helpless. He's almost eleven years old; he should be able to find his way home without getting lost.
Su Taotao: "Did Chenchen cause you any trouble?"
Fu Zhengtu: "No, he was very good."
Su Taotao began her constant chatter: "The coal stove at home is so frustrating. I have no idea where to begin."
Fu Zhengtu: "I'll take care of it."
Fu Zhengtu glanced at her and was about to ask if her family didn't use coal stoves. Then he thought, if he had a daughter as fair-skinned as Su Taotao, he probably wouldn't have the heart to let her handle coal either.
Her cooking skills must have been honed during her years in the countryside.
If Su Taotao knew what he was thinking, she would probably say it was indeed a beautiful misunderstanding.
The original owner likely avoided the kitchen because of laziness, and her cooking skills were honed in her past life, but that wasn’t important.
Su Taotao continued, “Auntie Zhong is such a character. She actually stood at the fish stall for half an hour waiting for the fish to die because the dead fish are half the price of the live ones.
I also bought some very cheap clams today. We’ll have clams for lunch and pig trotters for dinner.”
Fu Zhengtu found that he really enjoyed listening to her chatter.
Her voice was clean and crisp, like a clear and sweet sound, very refreshing.
In the past, everyone used to laugh at Mo Gong for being afraid of his wife, heading home on time every day. Mo Gong always said, “You single guys don’t get what it’s like to have a family waiting for you at home.”
Fu Zhengtu didn’t understand it back then, but now he did.
This was what life was about.
After Fu Zhengtu returned, the task of cooking with coal became much simpler. Su Taotao just waved her big palm-leaf fan to direct, and Fu Zhengtu did exactly as she asked, better than a cooking robot. When he was frying the second dish, Fu Yuanhang came back.
The sound of him saying goodbye to his friends could be heard from the door.
Su Taotao walked over to open the door and took the backpack off his shoulder:
“Yuanhang, why are you so late? I was worried you’d gotten lost.”
Fu Yuanhang laughed and dodged her hand, holding the backpack in his arms: “I had some questions for the teacher after class, so I got delayed a bit.”
Su Taotao asked, “Can you keep up with the classes? Are you adapting well?”
Fu Yuanhang replied, “So far, it’s okay. It’s a little more advanced than what we did in the village, but I’m keeping up.”
“That’s good. If it gets too tough, don’t force it. You can always repeat the year in September,” Su Taotao asked, “Was that new classmate you were talking to earlier?”
Fu Yuanhang nodded, “He lives in the building above us. We only realized we were in the same class when we met at the intersection.”
Su Taotao asked again, “Is he from the Mo family?”
Fu Yuanhang was a bit surprised and nodded again, “Yes, Mo Jialin. Sister-in-law, do you know him?”
Su Taotao shook her head, “I don’t know him, but I know his mother, and so do you. Auntie Zhong is his mother.”
Fu Yuanhang was startled and blurted out, “So, does that mean Chenchen should call him Uncle Mo?”
Su Taotao burst out laughing, “It seems all of your classmates should be called uncles by Chenchen. It would mess up the family tree if he called them brothers.”
Thinking of something, Su Taotao turned to ask Fu Zhengtu, “Fu Zhengtu, what does Chenchen call Mo Gong?”
Fu Zhengtu replied, “...Uncle Mo.”
Su Taotao continued to laugh, “It’s really a mess. What do you think? Chenchen can’t call Auntie Zhong ‘Auntie’ like we do. If we had him call her ‘Grandma Zhong,’ then he’d have to call Mo Gong ‘Grandpa Mo.’”
Fu Zhengtu had a constipated expression on his face.
At work, everyone just calls each other by their titles, like ‘Engineer Mo.’ Who even worries about family ranks there?
Mo Gong is about the same age as my parents, and his oldest son is already in his twenties—old enough to be Chenchen’s grandpa. But something still felt off.
But it’s no big deal. We’re not related, so Chenchen can call them whatever he wants.
The family chatted and laughed together. Su Taotao had done all the preparatory work, so Fu Zhengtu only needed ten to twenty minutes to finish cooking the dishes.
The cheap and delicious clams in black bean sauce received unanimous praise from the whole family. The two brothers didn’t leave a single drop of sauce on their plates.
Chenchen loved seaweed and egg soup and kept asking for it again for dinner.
Su Taotao said she would make him winter melon and dried shrimp soup for dinner and have seaweed and egg soup again tomorrow. Hearing about the dried shrimp, Chenchen nodded, though still a bit reluctant.
The whole family loves Su Taotao's cooking. After all the meals we've had on the island, this one was finally satisfying.
During their lunch break, Su Taotao asked Fu Zhengtu:
"Fu Zhengtu, do you think I can start a Yu Hong Class? We can send all the three to five-year-old children on the island to the Yu Hong Class. And kids like our Chenchen, who’s so well-behaved, could even start at two."
Fu Zhengtu smiled, thinking about how well Chenchen behaved today. Their son was indeed, smart and well-behaved: "Do you enjoy taking care of children?"
Su Taotao shook her head. "Not really. Other people’s kids that age can be pretty rowdy. I’m not exactly fond of taking care of kids."
Fu Zhengtu looked down, staring at her.
So why are you giving yourself more work?
Su Taotao understood his look and gave him a helpless smile. "I want to create some job opportunities for family members like Auntie Zhong."
Lying back and staring at the ceiling, Su Taotao decided to tell Fu Zhengtu her true thoughts honestly:
"Fu Zhengtu, starting a Yu Hong Class isn’t my main goal. I want to help the women who are tied down by their kids get some freedom. Actually, I want to open a factory so that we can provide more job opportunities for the family members who came along."
