Chapter 76: The Kids Can Now Say Five Words in One Breath
by 黎家七七Chapter 76: The Kids Can Now Say Five Words in One Breath
Tonight, both kids had fans in their rooms, and Chenchen was particularly excited, spinning circles around the fan.
Su Taotao kept reminding them not to stick their hands into the fan or move it. Fortunately, both children were obedient and didn’t mess around.
Su Taotao adjusted the position so it wouldn’t blow directly on their heads and waited until Chenchen fell asleep before going back to her own room.
Fu Zhengtu was lying in bed reading a book. It was an English original, filled with technical jargon that Su Taotao couldn’t understand.
Su Taotao closed her eyes and leaned against Fu Zhengtu’s chest, her hands unconsciously circling his waist and softly rubbing.
Fu Zhengtu put down the book, his knuckles caressing her chin. “Feeling sleepy?”
Su Taotao nodded, mumbling groggily, “Walked too much today, I’m tired.”
Fu Zhengtu pulled her legs onto his own and started massaging her calf muscles.
Su Taotao hummed in comfort.
Fu Zhengtu leaned down and kissed her lips. “Don’t make that kind of sound, or you’ll get even more tired.”
Su Taotao fell silent, slowly opening her eyes.
The man’s handsome features were right in front of her, his narrow eyes deep and gentle.
Su Taotao looked at him with her blurred, watery eyes, then suddenly raised her hand to his jaw and leaned forward, gently pecking his thin lips, her voice nearly a whisper:
“Then make me more tired.”
This sentence was like a fatal blow to Fu Zhengtu.
Fu Zhengtu flipped her over and pressed her down, his once calm eyes now stormy. One hand slowly undid the buttons on her clothes, while the other supported himself beside her face, his long fingers caressing her ear, undoing and kissing at the same time:
“No biting my Adam’s apple tonight.”
Otherwise, I won’t be able to show my face at work tomorrow.
Though she usually went for a spot a bit lower, if she went a bit higher, even the collar button couldn’t hide it.
Su Taotao smiled lazily, reached over and tugged the light cord, plunging the room into darkness. From afar, the lighthouse flickered, casting a faint light from the streetlamp outside. She could vaguely see the man’s handsome, restrained face.
The soft thud of clothes hitting the floor echoed clearly.
Su Taotao closed her eyes, pressed against his ear, intertwining necks with him.
The quiet and long night was filled only with the rustling of bedsheets and the faint, mutual sounds of intimacy... and the woman’s distant, low humming.
The next day, Su Taotao’s biological clock was still off. She still wasn’t sure when she had drifted off, but woke up feeling clean and refreshed.
The more time she spent with Fu Zhengtu, the more she craved this kind of marital bliss.
How decadent you are, Su Taotao.
In the courtyard the next morning, the sound of Chenchen’s carefree laughter filled the air once again.
Without asking, she knew he was definitely pestering Fu Yuanhang to push his car again.
Sure enough, the child was swinging his short legs and raising his small, chubby fist: “Vroom vroom vroom~~”
On the dining table were the breakfasts Fu Zhengtu had bought from the large canteen earlier that morning, along with a bunch of small daisies still glistening with dew.
“Good morning, gentlemen,” Su Taotao greeted with a smile.
It might have been due to family tradition, but the three “gentlemen” in the family all shared the qualities of true gentlemen.
The two little gentlemen responded, “Good morning, Mom/Sister-in-law.”
Fu Zhengtu looked over, his narrow, deep eyes softening with tenderness. As usual, he spoke in a plain, casual tone: “Come eat breakfast once you’re washed up.”
Su Taotao smiled warmly at him.
Fu Zhengtu slightly raised the corner of his mouth, giving her a very faint smile.
After breakfast, Mo Jialin, Auntie Zhong’s son, came to fetch Fu Yuanhang to go to school together.
With two little friends looking out for each other, Su Taotao felt much more at ease.
When seeing Fu Zhengtu off, Su Taotao reached for his collar and whispered, “Today is Chenchen’s second birthday, so I’m going to make him a small cake later. Remember to come home for lunch on time.”
Fu Zhengtu was stunned for a moment and looked at his son, who was engrossed in studying the wheels of his toy car, a look of apology on his face. “I’m sorry, I don’t even know when Chenchen’s birthday is. Should I bring him to work with me?”
Su Taotao replied, “Then remember it’s today. If you bring him a small gift when you come back, he’ll be even happier. Let him stay home today. Dongdong and the others will come over later.”
Actually, Chenchen didn’t understand what a birthday was because he’d never celebrated one before.
Fu Zhengtu looked down, the sunlight casting his profile in sharp relief, almost too bright to look at. “I know, I’ll be back on time.”
Su Taotao gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and turned to look for Chenchen.
Fu Zhengtu’s eyes followed her as she crouched down in front of their son. “Dad’s going to work now, Chenchen. Say goodbye to Dad.”
The little guy looked up and waved his small, chubby hand. “Bye bye, Daddy~~”
Su Taotao was amazed to see that the child could actually say five words in one go!
Fu Zhengtu smiled and waved back at his son. “Bye, Chenchen.”
And may you grow up happy and strong.
Xia Zhiqiu and Dongdong must have planned their visit just right. But thinking about it, Zhang Chuncheng and Fu Zhengtu had the same work hours. When he left for work, it was essentially the same as Fu Zhengtu leaving for work.
Xia Zhiqiu handed some local specialties to Su Taotao. “These are some peanut candies I brought from my hometown. My mother made them. I brought some for you to try.”
Su Taotao didn’t hesitate and smiled as she took them. “So it’s made by Aunty herself, what a treasure. Chenchen and I will make sure to have a good taste.”
Xia Zhiqiu secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
She was new in town and had forgotten about the incident the day before. She hadn’t thought to bring a thank-you gift for Su Taotao.
She had mentioned it to Zhang Chuncheng when she went back home that night.
Zhang Chuncheng had said that bringing a gift specifically to say thank you would be too formal, and the Fu family didn’t like such superficial gestures. Being sincere with them was more important than anything else.
After getting to know Su Taotao, Xia Zhiqiu also realized she wasn’t a materialistic person.
However, when she brought over the peanut crisps, she still felt somewhat nervous.
Seeing Su Taotao's joy, she finally relaxed.
"Chenchen, happy birthday, this is for you." As soon as Dongdong walked in, he gave his favorite spinning top to Chenchen.
Fu Haochen, receiving a birthday gift from a friend for the first time, was unsure if he should accept it. He looked at his mom with a puzzled expression.
Su Taotao told Dongdong, "Dongdong, if this spinning top is your favorite and you only have one, you can keep it. There’s no need to give it to Chenchen. You can just play together."
Chenchen can also bring out his favorite slingshot and chess set to play with Dongdong.
Dongdong shook his head, insisting on giving it to Chenchen.
Su Taotao then said, "Then Chenchen should thank Dongdong, and you can still play together in the future."
Chenchen had never seen a spinning top before and found it fascinating. This was also the first time he had received a gift from someone outside his family, and he beamed, saying, "Thank you!"
Chenchen took Dongdong's hand and led him upstairs to get his little backpack, also sharing his own toys with his friend.
Su Taotao began to make the cake.
With limited resources, Su Taotao made a simpler version.
She mixed several eggs with a bit of flour, added sugar and baking powder, and stirred until it was just right. Then she set it aside to ferment.
It would be ready after fermenting for an hour or two at this temperature.
Xia Zhiqiu was incredulous. "Is it really that simple? I've seen cakes in the Friendship Store selling for very high prices."
Su Taotao smiled and said, "The cakes on display in stores are certainly more elaborate than that. They require separating the egg whites, whipping them separately, then mixing, and adding whipped cream for decoration on the surface, along with various fruits and candies. With our limited resources, we’re just aiming for the ceremonial feel."
"Ceremonial feel..." Xia Zhiqiu repeated the words and nodded. "Little Su, you're really amazing, knowing everything. When the Winter Solstice comes, I’ll also make one for Dongdong."
Su Taotao asked, "Is Dongdong born on the Winter Solstice?"
Xia Zhiqiu nodded and said, "Yes, his full name is Zhang Dongzhi."
Su Taotao smiled. "Your family’s names are really interesting, covering all four seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter."
Hearing this, Xia Zhiqiu also laughed. "I hadn’t noticed before, but now that you mention it, it’s true."
