Chapter 432: New Directions and Goals
by 黎家七七**Chapter 432: A New Direction and Goal**
To Fu Zhengtu, Su Taotao had come along at the wrong time. If she’d been born just a few years earlier, with her intelligence and learning ability, she would’ve been in college by now.
She always had a book with her, taking such good care of his old high school textbooks. If the college entrance exams were reinstated and Su Taotao could go to university, it would save her from so much regret.
Truthfully, Su Taotao had already studied enough in her previous life. But at this point in time, being only in her twenties and witnessing such a historic moment without being part of it would also be a great pity.
Still, even if she went to a local university, she'd still have to be separated from her family for several years—let alone if she studied elsewhere.
This was what was holding her back, and she had planned to wait until the reinstatement of the exams was officially announced before discussing it with Fu Zhengtu.
Unexpectedly, he had picked up on the signals a year earlier.
Su Taotao hugged Fu Zhengtu, nuzzling his chin:
"Fu, if the exams really are reinstated and I pass, which means I’d have to leave you guys for a few years to attend university, what would you do?"
Fu Zhengtu looked at her seriously, "How about applying to a university in the capital?"
Su Taotao blinked. What did he mean?
Fu Zhengtu continued, "We've made a breakthrough in my current project. Headquarters has been trying to transfer me there for technical exchange, and I’ve been considering it.
If you get into a university in the capital, we could all move there together."
Su Taotao stared at him in shock, "So suddenly? Why have you never mentioned this before?"
Fu Zhengtu said, "I hadn’t planned on leaving here before, so I never brought it up."
For him, it didn’t matter—research was research, no matter where it was done.
But Su Taotao was different. She had put so much of herself into building up the food processing plant to its current scale.
He had witnessed her growth and hard work. He didn’t want to be separated from her again, nor did he want to put her in a difficult position. If she impulsively followed him away from here, all her efforts would be for nothing.
The thought pained him.
When headquarters made the offer, he hadn't even considered leaving.
Research was his life's work, but so was his family—and Chenchen. He had already missed too much of his son’s early years, a regret he could never make up for, but he didn’t want to miss any more.
If Su Taotao wanted to attend university, moving together to the capital would be the best of both worlds.
The problem that had troubled Su Taotao for so long was unexpectedly solved just like that by Fu.
So what else did she have to worry about?
Su Taotao was careful not to sound too confident, "The reinstatement of the exams isn’t even official yet. Let’s wait until it’s confirmed before making plans."
Fu Zhengtu held her close, "Preparing in advance is never a bad thing. It’s been nine years—it’s probably ending soon."
As for what would end, they both understood.
And it had to be said that Fu Zhengtu’s judgment was spot-on.
Su Taotao went along with his idea, "Then let’s work hard together. Once the exams are confirmed to return, I’ll apply to a university in the capital, and you can request a transfer to headquarters."
This place was wonderful, almost perfect—a safe haven where their family had spent such happy times.
But if there's an opportunity to move to the capital, whether in terms of healthcare or education, it would be even better for the child’s development.
Fu Zhengtu looked at her: "Would you be okay with that?"
Su Taotao knew what he meant and smiled: "I was thrown into the deep end at first, but my original intention and goal have already been achieved. The subsidiary factory is thriving just as I hoped. Once it's on track, it can keep running smoothly no matter who takes over. It's not like there's anything I can't let go of."
Fu Zhengtu kissed her forehead: "Mhm, I'll review the textbooks and highlight the key points for you."
Su Taotao glanced at him sideways: "Don't you trust me? Planning to predict exam questions for me? Does Fu have this skill too?"
Fu Zhengtu chuckled: "Of course not. It's just a habit from taking too many exams."
Fu Zhengtu really was exceptional. In those days, graduate students were rare to begin with, and he was the cream of the crop.
Su Taotao hugged him again and nuzzled close: "Alright then, looks like I’ll need to cling to Fu’s coattails."
The night passed quietly.
The couple had reached a consensus and began working toward their new direction and goal.
