Chapter 361 I Want to Learn to Write~~
by 黎家七七Chapter 361 I Want to Learn to Write~~
The first day of Lunar New Year.
Early in the morning, the radio began playing New Year's celebration songs, echoing through the courtyard with the lively tune of "Congratulations to You, Congratulations to You."
Chenchen rubbed his sleepy eyes with his chubby little hands and woke up to the music.
Hearing movement from the bed, Fu Yuanhang put down the book he was reading. "Chenchen, you're awake? Happy New Year."
The little boy barely opened his eyes, revealing his little baby teeth. "Happy New Year, Uncle Shu~~"
Fu Yuanhang set aside his book and walked over to help the child into his new outfit. "There's a Lucky Red Envelope under your pillow. Take it out and see."
"Ah~~" Chenchen was halfway into his new sleeve while his other hand reached under the pillow.
The little boy quickly pulled out five Red Envelopes and counted them on his fingers. "Five! Daddy, Mommy, Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle Shu—just right~~"
"Ah~~ This one is from Mommy! There are words:
'Happy New Year, little Chenchen! After the New Year, you'll be three years old. Mommy wishes you happiness every day, safety and peace, and good health. Love you~~'
Aha~~ Thank you, Mommy! I love you too~~"
Chenchen was overjoyed—this was the first "letter" he had ever received that he could read himself since learning to recognize words.
Lately, the little boy had been learning characters with Fu Yuanhang.
In fact, the whole family had been consciously teaching him. Whenever they saw written words, they would tell him what they meant.
Chenchen was so smart—he could remember them instantly. If he didn’t recognize a character, he would ask and then remember it.
Little by little, he had learned a whole bunch.
Chenchen opened the Red Envelope and found two one-yuan notes inside.
His family often took him shopping, so he was familiar with money.
"Wow, two whole kuai! Uncle Shu, does this mean I'm big now? Can I have my own money~~?"
Fu Yuanhang ruffled the little boy’s hair. "Yes, Chenchen, you'll be another year older after New Year's. You can save the money or use it to buy things you like."
Chenchen nodded slowly and tucked the money back into the envelope. "M'kay~~"
Unlike Su Taotao’s, the other Red Envelopes didn’t have any writing. Disappointed he couldn't show off his reading skills, the little boy pouted.
"Uncle Shu, which one is yours? Why didn’t you write 'Happy New Year' to Chenchen or even your name? How can I tell which one is from you~~?"
Fu Yuanhang: "..."
"Uncle spaced out. How about I add it now?"
Chenchen nodded eagerly, grinning. "Okay, okay~~"
Fu Yuanhang took the Red Envelope he had given Chenchen and went to write a New Year’s message and sign his name.
When he returned, Chenchen happily beamed as he read aloud, "'Wishing Chenchen a Happy New Year and may you grow tall and strong—Uncle Shu~~'"
"Uncle Shu, did I read it all right?" he asked proudly. "Am I amazing~~?"
Chenchen batted his big eyes, looking at his uncle with anticipation.
Fu Yuanhang couldn't help but laugh: "Chenchen is amazing, he knows so many characters."
Chenchen happily opened the red envelope—there was a one-yuan bill inside.
He happily put the money back, put the envelope down, put on his little socks, then picked up the envelopes again and went pattering downstairs:
"I'm going to ask Daddy and Grandma to write something~~"
Su Taotao had gotten up very early today and was preparing breakfast in the kitchen with Zhou Linglan.
Meanwhile, Fu Zhengtu was out for his usual morning run—he probably wouldn't return until after completing ten kilometers.
"Grandma~~ Mommy~~ New Year's greetings~~" The child's sweet little voice made its reappearance.
Zhou Linglan beamed with delight: "Good good, Chenchen's up, Happy New Year, Happy New Year!"
Su Taotao bent down to pick up the child and kissed him: "After a good night's sleep, our little one has grown up another year. Does Chenchen have any New Year's wishes this year?"
Chenchen smiled with squinted eyes, tilting his head to think: "I want to learn to write~~"
Su Taotao: "???" What kind of wish is that? Asking for homework?
She truly couldn't keep up with the way a genius's mind works.
Chenchen handed several red packets (red envelopes) to Zhou Linglan: "Grandma, if you don't write on it, I won't know which one is from you~~"
"Write on it?" Zhou Linglan had never heard of writing on lucky money envelopes before.
Chenchen showed Zhou Linglan Mommy's and Uncle's: "Like this! I can tell which one is from you when I see the name~~"
Zhou Linglan couldn't help laughing: "Yes yes, Grandma forgot. I'll write it for you now."
Chenchen shouted: "And Grandpa's too! Grandma, didn't Grandpa say anything when he asked you to give me his red packet~~"
Zhou Linglan's smile froze momentarily before softening again: "He did, I'll write it for him."
Chenchen clapped his chubby little hands: "Yay~~"
Su Taotao patted the child's forehead: "Go get washed up, come eat breakfast when you're done."
Just as Chenchen finished washing up, Fu Zhengtu returned home.
The little boy with short legs and big eyes' eyes lit up, and he ran over to hug his father's long legs: "New Year's greetings, Daddy~~"
Fu Zhengtu smiled gently, scooped up the child: "Happy New Year."
The child felt around in his ducky pocket and asked pointedly: "Daddy, which red envelope is from you~~"
Fu Zhengtu immediately recognized the one he'd prepared and pulled it out: "This one."
The child put on an innocent look: "But you didn't write your name, so I wouldn't know. Look at Mommy's example~~"
Chenchen began showing off the ones with writing.
Su Taotao was trying not to laugh.
Fu Zhengtu patted his little head: "Yes, Daddy's bad. I'll write it for you now."
After all that fuss, the little one finally received the long-awaited red envelopes with words on them. Beaming as he showed off his reading skills, he sat in his own special little chair and read them out loud to the whole family.
Zhou Linglan's and Fu Yuanhang's were quite similar—both envelopes had phrases like "Happy New Year" and "Stay safe and healthy."
Chenchen read them effortlessly, nothing unexpected.
As for Fu Zhengtu—
Chenchen seemed to have discovered something new, finally finding a character he didn’t know. Excitedly, he asked, "Hey Daddy, what’s this word?~~"
